I've done 13 print books and 10 ebooks with BookBaby and they always do a fine job. Quick turnaround, excellent quality, books arrive efficiently packaged.

Everyone is always willing to take the time to assist with answering question…staff always knowledgeable, kind and helpful .
It has been this way from the get go !!

Professional, hands-on service with prompt email replies, especially during processing active projects. In my experience with BookBaby so far (publishing my first fiction novel), the highest praise goes to the staff. You benefit from having a primary contact who knows you and your project, so you don't have to explain yourself and bring someone "up to speed" every time you need something. However, should you need, their phone lines are open to contact alternate staff members should your need or concerns be more immediate. During my project, I continued to receive prompt replies from staff across departments (depending on the step my book project was at). Regarding their website, I also want to praise the clean, user-friendly design and implementation of most everything on your "user account" screens.

My experience with bookBaby was amazing, every time I called or needed assistance they were always there never making me feel like I was getting on their nerves or bothering them, they just keep encouraging me and never stop answering my many phone calls! So thank you BookBaby . Michelle Wilson

This is a great company for self publishing a print book. I’ve used them twice for photography books.

From online price calculator, to support supplying perfect templates—inDesign for inside pages and PhotoShop for cover and dust jacket—and all the way through prepress, you could not ask for better support.

And,of course, the final print product is fabulous. Bright, vibrant color and clear print.

I’m extremely pleased and am currently working on my next book, which I will also have Bookbaby print.

My questions are answered with satisfaction. Also, I received valuable advice for my needs.

This was my second time around with GookBaby, and I couldn't be more pleased. No hassle, they had all the previous editing ready to go. Literally two clicks, enter payment, and done. Thank you BookBaby.

Your support staff was very helpful as I tried to navigate through your process. While I was finally successful in uploading my digital files correctly, I think the website could be more user friendly and straightforward.
I’m very happy with the color and overall quality of my finished book which is really the most important aspect of self publishing.

They listen to their clients and follow up on any projects that are in production. Nothing is forced but done in a respectful manner.

I needed my order in a rush and Book Baby went above the call of duty in getting my order printed and shipped. And the quality of the product was fantastic. All of my expectations were exceeded.

Full disclosure: I am new to publishing. That said... Staff was responsive and helpful (thanks Arielle!). My only suggestion is that website/process needs a bit of revision to be more clear regarding a particular project... e.g. specific dimensions clearly stated - also, the verbiage implies a commitment when ready to proceed (after uploading materials), when in truth, that is how one gets a digital proof, and there is still opportunity for correction.... that process was "unsettling" by implication. Once I was reassured about the process, everything went great, and the results were fantastic!

I loved the product—the book cover they created. I would have given 5 stars for that. However, I was disappointed in the communication during the process. I felt like I was talking to a robot or AI. I am 79 years old and need some personal guidance with the self publishing process. I still have many, many questions and am waiting for some personal feedback and interaction. When and if that happens I will amend my review.

Bookbaby made it easy to turn my dream into a reality with my book, The Fifth Episode, Inside The Manic Mind. They even helped me make the perfect cover for my book. I will use them for my second book 100%.

Quick Easy Professional

There is very little transparency when it comes to sales/royalties. We have a bestselling book that has sold thousands of copies elsewhere (literally 60,000+ copies) and not 1 single reported sale on BookBaby.
I know they report a couple of months after the sales are made (which is very inconvenient) but still, even though it was published a long time ago, no sales have been reported.

This is strange because when I listed it on BookBaby, the version from BookBaby overtook our listing on Amazon.ca for a few days and I even saw a huge drop in sales from Amazon.ca during those days. The Best Sellers Rank, however, stayed on the same average level, meaning it was still selling; in other words, the sales must have been attributed to the BookBaby listing.

The book is also available on many more websites where I can see ''Bookbaby" listed as the publisher; however, still no sales reported.

Another thing I find strange is that you have to make a thousand-dollar purchase to buy copies of your own book just to get the book to distributors.

This is just my experience with BookBaby and I'm not accusing them of anything. However, if you're looking for transparency, I would highly recommend choosing a different distributor.
