Slimy AF.

I have been a customer for two years. I signed up for this service because it was recommended through Gusto. I had a great intro conversation with their sales rep, felt good about everything, and sent them a retainer payment. Then nothing happened for quite some time. I followed up and told them they need to get me started or refund me. They hustled to get me started after said I wanted my money back.

In the first few months of using this service, I had to chase my bookkeeper about things that had not been filed or set up correctly, which is the whole reason I wanted to hire a bookkeeper.

Last winter, I had to chase them to get my tax forms. This past fall, I got switched to a different bookkeeper person and had to do some follow-up there because nothing was being done.

A month ago, I switched to a new bookkeeping service and accountant and learned that I haven't needed to do 1099s because I'm set up as a corporation. Bookkeeper360 has been telling me I need to do these *AND CHARGING ME FOR IT* even though they're the only entity I work with that would need one if I was required to send them, which I'm not.

When I canceled, I paid my last open invoice and told them not to charge me again. They, of course, charged me again.

Decent service, misleading contracts

They’re nice people and do a decent job with the actual accounting work. That said, I’d strongly caution anyone considering them to read the contract very carefully. The way they structure and present costs seems intentionally designed to obscure the true total, making it appear smaller than it really is. I would have had no problem paying the full amount if it had been presented clearly, but the lack of transparency eroded my trust.

Overbilled, Poor Communication, and Unreliable Tax Guidance

I hired Bookkeeper360 initially to help with a migration from QuickBooks to Xero. They quoted approximately $2,000 with the understanding that I’d do part of the work. Instead, they completed the project entirely without consulting me and billed $5,000.

Later, I engaged them for ongoing bookkeeping and tax support. I had already reconciled my accounts in Xero, yet they spent multiple billable hours performing redundant bank reconciliations—adding no value and charging me for work that was unnecessary.

When I asked clear and specific tax questions regarding the treatment of equity withdrawals versus distributions (which had direct implications for my 2024 tax planning), I received vague or misdirected responses. Instead of answering directly, my inquiries were continually "passed to the tax team," and the replies I got often misunderstood my intent.

Worse, they made a journal entry reclassifying a legitimate loan repayment to my father as a shareholder distribution, despite me having confirmed the loan balance with them directly. When I asked why, the response was that it was a “book-to-tax adjustment” without further explanation or reconciliation to my prior input.

I never received a final copy of my 2023 Form 1120-S tax return, only a draft, and shortly after raising questions, they followed up with an invoice for additional billable time.

After evaluating the quality of the work and the lack of clear, actionable tax guidance—especially during a critical business transition year—I terminated the relationship and removed their access to all accounts.

My experience with Bookkeeper360 was disappointing, both in terms of cost control and professional competence. I cannot recommend them for small business owners who need attentive, accurate financial support or thoughtful tax planning.

I love bookkeeper360 as a small…

I love bookkeeper360 as a small business!

They are so quick and efficient. I dont even have to think of balancing my books. Scott Reeder is my advisor along with Amela and they do a fantastic job. I meet with them 4x a year to go over everything and my books are great and in January I have all my tax documents i need.

I would highly recommend them for any small business.

BK360 is the Comcast of Accounting

BK360 is one of those companies you read about in textbooks about becoming top-heavy and inefficient with too many managers, VPs, and mid-level managers – where nothing gets done and you have to contact four different people to get a response or simple answer.

On top of that, Bookkeeper360 has absolutely disgusting customer service and service overall – with a special shoutout to Steven Muller, the VP of Sales.

First, they failed to file my state sales tax return and only filed it after numerous emails from me. I was penalized $1,100 for the late filing. It's been over three months and I'm still waiting for the refund or credit.

Next, I sent them TWO emails saying I needed my federal business tax return done. Both emails were ignored and Steven’s excuse was, “my colleagues' notes only referenced us helping with the bookkeeping and sales tax filings; nothing was noted on income tax filings.”...

Well duh, that’s my point. Not only is Steven throwing his “colleague” under the bus but he’s acting as if that’s some sort of sufficient excuse. Steven is literally admitting that they overlooked my request for the tax return (TWICE) and is so dense that he thinks it’s an actual excuse.

How does a company admit they overlooked a request twice and still somehow think that’s a valid excuse? Absolutely disgusting.

When I asked about my federal tax return, Steven said BK360 could file an extension for $100. Why should I be charged anything for their mistake? I don’t care if it's $1 or $10,000, they should not bill me for their oversight. (I was able to file an extension myself in 45 seconds for $30)

I was then told the $100 for the extension would be credited towards the federal tax filing…yea right. Absolutely no way would anyone want to continue a business relationship after the ridiculous email exchanges with Steven.

I did ask Steven how many times a client has to make a request in order for something to get done, especially as important as a tax return. He did not answer but we know it’s more than two.

These are only two of many instances. I'm still waiting to hear back on at least three other things from the BK360 team and it's been months. It should not be my job to constantly follow-up to get answers about accounting or bookkeeping - I have a business to run.

As other reviews have noted, BK360 lacks professionalism and integrity. If you care about your time and business, AVOID BK360.

They ask for a call to give excuses as to why they can't deliver and bill you for it!

I'm a non-US resident operating an online business through an LLC. I was looking for someone that could handle all of our accounting, taxes and compliace.

Scheduled a call with Bookkeeper360, and I was promised the heavens, it all seemed like the sort of thing I was looking for. Very expedited sales process, I was sent the invoices which I paid and I was told that I would have my account manager introduced and things would start rolling.

1 week went by... Nothing happened. Since the only contact I had was the sales person I had talked, I reached out asking what was wrong and if something was missing. He replied and CC some other people, but again, nothing happened for another week.

2 weeks had gone by, so I go ahead and email the sales person again, more people are now CC in the email and finally I get an email from my account manager which asks me to get on a call.

I do, there are 2 people on the call. A call that could have been a 2 parragraph email of mostly excuses as to what they were so busy, and tax season, and this and that. I was then told that immediatly after the meeting things would get rolling (and by rolling I mean the basic setup of the Xero account) not even doing any real bookeeping.

2 weeks after that call, take a guess... Nothing had happened. No Xero account, no progress whatsoever, this over a month after my sales call.

At this point in time a said I wanted a refund, and again calls for new excuses, again, zero value, just meaningless excuses.

The funny thing is, that only at this point in time and after my cancellation they decide to setup the xero account.

So the next day I get an email saying that they will be refunding only 60% of the retainer.

I was very surprised, and when I asked for the bill report I was shocked to find out that they even billed me for the call that THEY asked for and in which they only gave excuses.

If you are in the startup world, or online business space avoid these guys at all costs. These are oldschool slackers that still think excuses and chitchat is the way to do business, They'll just find a way to make everything a billable item regardless, true value substracting parasites!
