Good source of amaro, but many of the selections in which I was interested were out of stock. Order to delivery time was over two months, a long time to wait. Finally, UPS delivery was delayed several... See more

I really love Italian wines, and at Bottle of Italy I always find a great selection at fair prices. They’re very professional, and delivery to Portugal is within a reasonable timeframe. Salute!

Thanks Brexiteers !!

Firstly the positives, B.O.I has an excellent product range of well priced wines, along with prompt & well communicated delivery via UPS. The range is far superior to UK wine merchants and supermarkets.
Sadly since Brexit, importing wine from mainland Europe (I have used French, German, Italian & Portuguese companies) has become extremely expensive. I presume that the "red-tape" and administrative costs have been passed onto the end user - in addition recent tax increases have clearly compounded the issue.
My recent order was for 12 bottles at a cost of £125.61 - the delivery cost £54.90 to the UK and tax / excise duties a further £89.62. So in effect the "extras" are more expensive than the wine itself.
Not sure if there is a solution, short of re-joining the EU (wishful thinking).
Wish I lived near the Channel - must still be a better deal to pop on the ferry and bring a few bottles back....

trace of mold / trace de moisissure

i order some bottles, some of them having mentioned damaged label. When we received the box, first it was late, but some bad smell came out, and some trace of mold on the bottle neck were there. I did complain about this, and i was told that it is clearly mentioned that the bottles were flooded this is why; however i did not see any mention of this of the website, and i was very surprised about this. This happened to 3 bottles having this remark, and one where it was not mentioned.
others bottles were ok.
this is very bad and a bit disappointing

Beware hidden cost of import VAT and fees

First of all the delivery was late by 4 days, this meant we were on holiday and could not recieve the order. After returning and letting the courier know we got it but were confronted with a VAT bill of over £70 by the courier, pay and no goods. We paid on the basis I had already been told in an email from BOI that this was a mistake so expected to be re-imbursed. No - turns out its BOI mistake and the advertsed price is incorrect and I had to pay. No apology and BOI just state this sometimes happens. I can only advise that people avoid them as you have no control over what you will pay. Could have also got the wine for less in the UK when you factor the VAT bill into account. You live and learn!
