Do NOT Recommend Box

We're paying $1500 a year for just 600 GB of storage with no option available to increase storage. Have found an alternate solution to replace Box and am never going back. Is stunning how terrible this company is at customer service.

The worst courier in Bulgaria

If you want to get to know your city, Box now is your courier. You will be chasing your shipment for days. They will send it not where it is indicated, but where it is convenient for them. Never use this courier voluntarily.

Lost 98% of my files.

Lost 98% of my files, terrible customer service, slow in coming back to help, moving over to someone else as soon as they pull their finger out.
Update.
They have solved my issue by not gaining any of my work back.
I would suggest staying away from Box as a safe option and am now in the process of taking them to court.
Avoid at all costs. If I could give no stars on this I would.

Awful.

“Terrible Support and Unreliable Service – Not Worth the Price”

I’ve been using Box with an Enterprise Plus subscription, paying over €1600 annually, and the support has been nothing short of terrible. For over a month, I’ve been dealing with issues related to upload limitations and a failed migration of 13TB of data. Despite repeated attempts to get help, I’ve been bounced between multiple support agents with no resolution.

The biggest frustration is the rate limitation placed on my account. Even after upgrading to a higher plan, I was told the issue would be resolved by a certain date, but it wasn’t. Every time I try to get help, I’m asked to provide logs and captures, and even after doing so, nothing gets fixed. The response time is slow, and it feels like they’re more interested in passing the problem around than actually solving it.

If you rely on Box for your business, be prepared for serious delays and poor support. I expected much more from a premium service, but the experience has been a nightmare. I’ll be looking for alternatives that offer better customer care and service reliability.

Box is impossible to get rid of!!!

I had to set up a box account to transfer files to someone WITH a box account. I DIDN'T WANT a box account, just transfer files as is easy with SharePoint or Google Drive. Setting one up took too long, involved too much personal information from my system, and now, I can't delete or deactivate it without going through a long process. DO NOT USE BOX

Cannot even keep your folders safe

Plenty of reviews have already mentioned the scam (and they're right - their business model is clearly based on extorting you for your own documents)
But that's not even the worst part! A user deleted a root folder by accident. Shouldn't be a problem, just log-in as the admin and restore the folder, right?
Instead 1,000s of files came back with no folder structure - I cannot exaggerate what a serious disaster that was for our company.
Since then we tried everything we could to manually back-up Box ourselves, but you can't even do that! To download through browser is impossibly slow and the connection would break (can 100% confirm that has nothing to do with our end). When we finally left them we had to pay extra to download our files through an FTP client - and even then it took 12 hours and was an unmitigated nightmare.
Customer support just copy and pasted links to the FAQ - honestly it was insulting how poor their treatment was.

After you signup they tell you the scam

After you signup for a plan that states unlimited storage. it shows you in the underlying console that you are limited to 1tb per user. Total scam. 1TB?? even other providers are giving much higher for less cost. Just state the 1TB initially with it's value.

Lack of professionalism and support…

Lack of professionalism and support from EVERYONE I came into contact with for Box was astoundingly bad. Right from my first sales call the person not showing up for the meeting, to lack of support, no responses to email and then igonring a trial cancellation request (actually, two) and charging despite request to cancel being within the trial period, and then telling me a refund was a courtesy, rather than a legal right. I was trying to find a product for 65+ users, and will NEVER use box again.

BOX IS A SCAM

Went for "free trial" on April 3, 2024.
When the Box app failed to open a file, I immediately canceled. Less than 14 days later, Box took $540.00 out of my banking account. DON'T GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD INFO. BOX will screw you, you can't call anyone at Box by phone and speak to a real person.

3 users mandatory

I used Box.com for over two years… until recently. It’s a scam if you want more stargaze than the free, 10mb. When o went to price membership it stated an acceptable amount but when I went to checkout it stated over $21 a month for 3 users ? Um, I’m one user… no option for that. Zero. Their excuse is that they only allow 3 no less. Um ok, back to Dropbox because this company scams you into buying a plan that has a mandatory 3 user cost. Sorry that’s unethical and it makes zero sense for all self employed and freelance people out there. Who comes up with these ridiculous business practices? Seriously don’t waste your money.

What an atrocious organisation to deal…

What an atrocious organisation to deal with!! I have an open ticket with this incredibly incompetent organisation that has been going on for months. Each time I receive a request for information that has been given in the previous ticket and no apology, no acknowledgment is ever given that they’ve even bothered to read the previous email. I’ve asked for it to be lodged as a complaint and been ignored and still asked for ‘what’s the company name you want on the account’.. incredible..

I would NEVER use this organisation with my public employer and more fool these incompetent people that they can’t be bothered to exercise a little brainpower, actually do they have any to utilise? If so I have yet to see the exist of any.

This organisation obviously fleeces individuals who are looking to increase storage and then can only pay for a business license and pay for 3 users (knowing they’ll only ever use 1).

An atrocious business that should never ever be underestimated in its quest to employ the most incompetent people and run as badly as possible.

Update:
I asked them to not upgrade until the issues had been resolved and found myself sent an invoice, the next day (email sent overnight) I get an email invoice .. I ask for it to be cancelled until resolution and guess what.. more emails back and forth and still no cancellation.

Someone named Racquel (a supervisor no less) who assures me ‘everything’ will be dealt with but still can’t seem to read my email to say remove my account from the upgrade .. the sheer lack of accountability and competence is astonishing..

Stay well clear.

Absolute scammers

Absolute scammers, used their system once in 12 months. Then without any prior notification they take $990 from my credit card. I contact them within 3 days of this and they advise they can’t refund or cancel a subscription midterm, although it’s only been 3 days since the renewal. Absolute wa-kers

Truly the worst customer service I have…

Truly the worst customer service I have ever come across. After scheduling a zoom with Mowmita a customer service person at Box, not only did this person fail to show up to the zoom, not give any notice whatsoever of not being able to make it - when this person finally resurfaced and got in touch, the excuse given was a joke. Claiming a very bad cold they said they had to decline the zoom - declining means notifying someone and this person did not even bother to do that. Then when I responded and said sorry to hear that but it would have been nice to have been told rather than sit on a zoom waiting - this person never even responded, didn't try to re-arrange, and now 6 days later I have heard nothing. This level of emotional and professional immaturity is shocking. time to find another company as clearly Box does not care at all about their customers. just look at all the negative ratings they get and they still cannot show up in a simple and courteous manner with customers. Pathetic, disrespectful and unprofessional.

Subscription issue resolved swiftly and professionally

We have been Box.com customers for many years. The experience has always been first class. Unfortunately we missed an email reminding us of our annual renewal and didn't cancel some seats before renewal date. We notified Box after the annual charge had been taken and our issue was dealt with by Ronmary Saniel. The service we received from Ronmary was excellent, they were professional and courteous. They swiftly raised the matter with the subscriptions team and our issue was resolved. We remain very pleased with the whole Box.com experience.

Customer Failure

At renewal, we sought to reduce the number of users by 3. We got the run around on how to do that. As a result we provided notice of the reduction 29 days before renewal. The "Customer Success" agent refused to accommodate, even though the 30 day notice would have required notice on New Year's Day. Well, we just provided 330 day notice of termination. No way to treat a longstanding customer. Run away. There are many other options.

I signed up for a 1 year agreement that included secure file transfer and esignature. I could never get the esignature to work and the customer support couldn't help me. I informed them that I wouldn't be continuing after my subscription ended and they autorenewed me anyway and now are telling me they won't refund me the money. They truly don't care about their customers. I would stay clear of Box.

17 GB folder consummes over 50GB space

50GB allowance, only synching 17GB between machines but whole allowance is gone. My main machine stopped synching due to excess usage, but no notification sent, so basically the automated backup on which I thought was being done automatically in the background never happened.

I am now in the process to move to move my content to Onedrive.

Service was free but failed to deliver expectations.

Run run run

RUN AWAY ! Yes YOU, stop considering Box, RUN AWAY !

Why:
"Unlimited storage" is a lie, the limit is 1Tb. The information is not available anywhere and Box doesn't warn you that you're soon reaching the limit. When you reached 10Tb you can't upload, and if you delete old files to make room it doesn't reduce your used storage, you have to beg on the forum or by email to have your used storage recalculated. Adding new users is super easy and they actually trick you with the UI to take more than you need. Reducing the amount of your user has to be done by email and it takes months during which you continue paying. Technical support doesn't exist. If in doubt of this statement please visit the forum where this fact can be witnessed. Emailing or calling is not better. After all this I finally decided to undertake the painfull process of moving all our company data to another cloud provider. It's going to take us ages and we will loose money, I wish I made the right choice from the start. Don't be like me don't be silly, get Dropbox or anything else.
