Rented two properties: the Dairy and the Corner Cottage.
Both Harry and Matthew were very welcoming and helpful.
The Dairy was absolutely beautifully done, throughout was spotlessly clean and everything you could want for a self catering place for 2 people. In the middle of the living area is a well that is lit up and makes a great feature. The mezzanine bedroom offers the same great views of the dog exercise and children's play area, and the fields beyond, as you get from the lounge window. My only two petty criticisms are ceiling height upstairs and in the bathroom (if greater than about 6'2", you may have to bend) and the shower lacked any power....neither of which would put me off staying here again.
The Corner Cottage, where my daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters stayed was equally as nice, clean and equipped.
Both cottages were given 6 eggs, supplied by the farms free range chickens. There were also ducks, geese, pigs, goats and alpacas to entertain the granddaughters.
We were lucky with the weather, which always helps! I will miss the early morning birds (woodpeckers, tits, sparrows...) eating a few meters from our window.
All-in-all a great spot to stay and to use as a base to visit the surrounding area.

Absolutely wonderful!! We may not have had the weather but we had an amazing visit. The accommodation was second to none, if you thought you needed it it was there, a complete guide to everything in the house, plenty of room, the bedrooms were wonderfully proportioned, the kitchen/dining room had everything you needed and the lounge was so cosy with recliner chairs and an open fire. Matthew and Harry were very welcoming and even let the children feed the farm animals, which they loved, the pigs especially.
No worries about the reply but alpacas??? another great reason to return!!!

Spent a lovely couple of days in The Dairy. Beautifully decorated and in a lovely location. The dog field was wonderful for my nervous dog, giving her the space and freedom to run and explore. Wonderfully helpful hosts - I will be back!

Very well kept accommodation and friendly hosts. They thought of everything so was like home from home. Fabulous farm with animals and fresh free range eggs from roaming chickens. Beautiful surroundings and a short drive to everything you need. Highly recommend.

The corner cottage has everything you could think of needing + Warm, cosy, plenty of hot water. Our teenage kids loved the farm and all the farm animals. Also the Long Barn is an amazing communal space with games, music and wood burners - fantastic additional surprise.

4 nights just wasn't long enough! - Can't wait to return

Wonderful 70th birthday celebrations, the cottages are beautiful and finished to a high standard. The Long Barn is the perfect venue for gatherings, a wonderful place for everyone to be together. We had space for a few campervans as we'd booked the whole venue. Chickens ducks and geese wandering around is lovely and visiting the pigs and goats is a must.

We recently stayed at Brackenthwaite Farm for a 70th birthday celebration and booked the entire site for our group. We had such an amazing time, the Long Barn was definitely the highlight of the weekend. It was the perfect space for everyone to come together, use the Aga to cook meals, enjoy buffets, listen to music, dance, and celebrate.

We booked the on-site accommodations as well as some space for campervans, and we had absolutely everything we needed for the weekend. The accommodation is finished to a very high standard, with great attention to detail throughout.

A massive thank you to Mathew and Harry for providing such a fantastic space. We’ll definitely be back again in the future!

There was a personal welcome to us. The cottage had everything you could possibly need or require.

The long barn was a great addition and made staying with family and friends exceptionally easy

Great venue and location

just the most perfect place to have a family gathering to celebrate a 70 th birthday!beautiful top quality cottages and event space and the outdoor spaces are just stunning, even the dogs have 5 star facilities! we will be back! Christine and Jeff

Brackenthwaite is a fabulous place to stay. Being able to book short breaks is a big help. Great attention to detail and the decor in the all the cottages. We have now stayed in them all and look forward to bringing some friends when the farmhouse opens.

Been going to Brackenthwaite for a number of years. The Dairy is our happy place with everything we could want & more. The well is stunning day or night. We get our shopping delivered & apart from a plod around the paddock with the dog, we literally hiberbate. Harry & Matthew are the perfect hosts with incredible taste & vision. Amazing place!! Top class clean accommodation and brilliant facilities for the horses too. Fabulous hosts providing a lovely welcome pack on arrival with free range eggs to buy from the chickens. We have stayed a few times and will definitely be returning

Absolutely loved our stay. The hosts have truly thought of everything in terms of kitting out the kitchen and the whole place was so welcoming and cosy. They go above and beyond to ensure that everyone has a wonderful time. Beautiful surroundings, lovely accommodation - highly recommend!

We stayed in The Dairy and I was a little concerned it might be too small for us and our two collies but there was ample room. It’s quirky and different. Stocked with everything you could need and very close to the dog exercise field which is huge. We had a lovely time.

There was a book of instructions, not full of useful things such as how to use appliances. The instructions were to clean and sanitize before leaving. Be mindful of electric consumption, don't allow you dog off lead ect. The bbq supplied was rusty. We had Internet issues and were told they would deal with it the next day. They allowed there dogs to roam free and leave their mess in what was supposed to be our semi private area. They were hostil towards us. It was so awful we left after 3 nights and had booked in for 7. The cottage itself was beautiful but not dog friendly with pale grey carpets and furnishings
