What a refreshingly brilliant business model this is in 2023 and carried out so well. I've told many people about it! I've entered a few competitions and the way they are handled and the build-up to the draw is so cool. Got my fingers and toes crossed for a lucky number :) - Joe C

Bridge Classic cars hosted an incredible event just before Christmas 2022. The staff are friendly, experienced and incredibly knowledgeable! If anyone's looking to get into classic cars, or need some assistance with an existing motor, this is the go to team. They regularly run car raffles, so there really is no excuse not to get involved.

Customer Service and expertise like no other!

Kindness like no other, golden customer service and experts of their trade!!! I was on my way to perform for Bridge Classic Cars and my radiator fluid was dangerously high with a red warning light, (thankfully not too long to go). Thank GOODNESS, I was driving to Bridge Classic Cars as when I arrived and mentioned the tricky journey over to Craig, he immediately offered Bridges services (whilst preparing for a busy live auction night) and reassured me. The wonderful Gordon very kindly looked at my car and topped it up with water and said that he would take a look at it after our performance to see if the water would stay. After the performance, he checked my car again and unfortunately all of the water had spilled out onto the floor meaning it would need a further look at. This was Christmas Eve Eve and Bridge was closing the next day. Gordon mentioned that they may be able to sort the next day but that it may be the New Year until they could get the parts they need to fix it. I said that this was absolutely fine and was just so thankful that they were so kind to look after my little fiat 500 and keep it safe with all of their (absolutely gorgeous) cars. The next day arrives and I receive a call from Craig in the morning to say that they had already looked at my car, identified the problem and ordered in the part for same day delivery for them to fix and me to pick up in the afternoon by 3, just so that I could have my car over the Christmas period!!!!!!!! I was and am absolutely bowled over by their infinite kindness, goodwill and expertise. If you are looking for expertise, kindness (and a car so beautiful you would never want another) I recommend Bridge Classic Cars. Thank you so much Craig, Gordon and all of the team at Bridge Classic Cars!!!

WOW, how lucky am I!

Wow. My 4th attempt to win a car was 4th time lucky! As the draw was on Dec 22nd, it was a fantastic Christmas present. The car is coming down to Cornwall on a covered transporter in early Jan. I’ve had a couple of conversations with the guys at Bridge Classic Cars and they are so lovely and helpful. Can’t wait for the Aston Martin DB9 to be delivered. Thank you so much and I will continue to buy draw tickets as it’s important to support a family business such as theirs.

The postal entry route does not detail…

The postal entry route does not detail any address. I have emailed them twice asking for the address, but no reply. I have now passed this to the ASA and Gamling Commission, as the advert for postal entries is compliant with legislation.

ASA guidelines stipulate that address MUST be clear. I have a screenshot of your terms and postal entry route, no address is there.

Hey Robert, this is very sad to read and I'm afraid, very inaccurate. The guidelines require the address to appear at least once on the website...our address appears on all 544 pages of our website independently. Not only that but it also appears in our terms and conditions and also within the text of our free entry route. It sits on it's own line in both of those places so I am totally confused by this 1* review. A quick calculation confirms that it appears a minimum of 546 times and without delving into every single online entry we have made to which the address appears on all of them, which is certainly into it's thousands, this confirms that it is more than enough to meet the guidelines. As well as that, Bridge Classic Cars has been established since 2004 which means we have 18yrs worth of online presence with 3 website running simultaneously, that's a huge amount of online coverage. I really don't understand how you have not been able to find our address. Are you sure it is Bridge Classic Cars that you are looking for?

Hiding key information on SL63 car raffle.

Why delete a comment on your facebook page highlighting the mileage on a car you are raffling?

If you don't post it on your website or any of the posts advertising are you trying to hide it? Especially on a 14 year old performance car.
If any car has 116k miles (let alone a 6.3 V8 AMG) on it you should be detailing exactly what work has been done and what services have been completed over it's lifetime.

Would avoid buying a raffle ticket for the SL63 as they deleted a post on their FB page highlighting the mileage from the MOT history.

Good morning Jonny, sorry that you feel a 1* review is required. As I am sure you understand, a review of this nature can be very damaging to a business, whether they are a small independent or a large corporation. Here at Bridge Classic Cars we very much encourage freedom of speech and all comments are welcome if they are justified, it's what keeps us all talking which is fantastic. What one person likes, the next may not and that is great. What we do not accept is malicious, libellous or comments of a sexual nature. I am not saying your comments were to that but I very much doubt we would be deleting a comment asking about mileage when it is clear to find out the history and mileage of a vehicle via many sources, including the UK database held by DVLA. We even welcome anyone who wishes to view the car to come down, look at the paperwork, inspect the car and have a coffee with us! There's nothing to hide and having been established for almost 20 years I would like to think we are not known for being dishonest. Please can you provide me with your full name so I can find your comment and look into the reasons why we felt it was appropriate to remove said comment. As you can see from our hundreds of thousands of comments received since 2004, there is a place for positive and negative comments but anything set out to cause harm is not considered necessary in our amazing community of like minded enthusiasts. Many thanks Craig

I love these competitions

I love these competitions. If I can't afford a ticket sometimes for a car I'd really love, I simply use the free entry route - but it's only fair to actually buy tickets too, or the competitions couldn't run! - so far I've not been lucky, but I enjoy the chat and information about cars in the workshop and cars which will come up in the future.

Since there's no other way that I could ever get my paws on a classic car (which in fact I want to win for my son, who's my Hero) I stopped playing the lottery with its infinitesimal chance of winning, and now I save a little bit to try the super odds here.

It's not even the Porsches and other classy cars I necessarily go for - I love thought of being able to give my son a car which was running around before he was even born, and let him imagine all the history its seen!

Great competition with great prizes and good odds of winning!

Well done Bridge Classic Cars, and thank you for your competitions - hopefully one day - I might even win :-)

Firstly, I haven't won anything, but the competition Terms & Conditions are clear and straightforward. The negative reviewers (generally) seem to be slagging-off Bridge Classic Cars for no good reason.
It is a competition with a chance of winning something pretty unique and special. The odds of winning are clearly stated. The price is clearly stated. I don't have a problem with this and this is the only form of gambling that I undertake.
Having read all the (very few) negative reviews, and more importantly, the replies from the organisers - it seems to me that this is fair and square - take a punt for a chance of winning - simple!
No one is forcing anyone to participate - and for me - this is just a bit of fun with the chance of winning. What is the problem?
Keep up the good work and thanks for helping keep a bit of vehicle history going.

Free prize draw with paid entry route

Like most of these prize draws that have been adopted as a business model the company is in line to make huge profits if a few considerations are made.
To run these prize draws you need to abide by the Gambling Commission rules for running ‘free prize draw with paid entry route’
Note that these are FREE PRIZE DRAW with paid entry route. To make the huge profits these companies make, they need the punter to decide to use the paid entry route. If everyone took the free route there would be no business model. They would not do it for ‘fun’.

They do this in several ways:-
The websites always have the postal / free entry route in much smaller font and hidden away on the page. Never the most prominent position. This is reserved for the glitz and glamour of the prize and prize description.

They set up hoops for you to jump through to enter via post, with regards to the information you need to provide, whether the entry has to be sent 1st class, signed for etc. some of these hoops are real and required for the GCs rules but most are to make this entry route more costly and more difficult for the punter and much easier for the company running the free prize draw to dismiss the entry as not matching the requirements.

Even if you do manage to get your entry post card filled in correctly they can still say they never received it. Even if you manage to get your post card filled in correctly and Royal Mail signed for at the business they can still say “Appreciate you say they have been signed for but I'm afraid it was not signed for by us. The signature looks to be a random cross shape which is not us. All of our staff sign the deliveries with their name and then all post gets processed by our buyer. I have checked all of our current car entries as well as recent cars in case they were entered against another car but no record of any of your entries. Please note we do not work Saturdays so any that were signed for by someone on a Saturday we certainly not us as our gates are locked and no entry can be gained. We share our site with 4 other businesses but we all talk and exchange posts if any are delivered in error so they may still pop up. It might be worth speaking to Royal Mail to see if they can give you any guidance as to where they might have been left”. Even when the other cards delivered on the Monday were signed for with the same signature and their answer was it might be the Royal Mail employee signing them.

All these things are not only to discourage the use of the free entry route in these ‘Free Prize Draws’ but also to run down the time while your entries may turn up later (in the mean time tickets are being sold out and therefore when/if your free entries ‘turn up’ all tickets have been sold).

The result is the same they’re only interested in paid for entries, they will do whatever they need to to avoid allowing free entries to these ‘FREE PRIZE DRAWS with paid for entry route’
In doing so they are:-
A) flouting the Gambling Commission’s rules to run these prize draws
B) Acting as the house in a gamble where only the house (and minimal punters) win.
C) Make huge profits. If they’ve given away £2.45m worth of prizes you can guarantee they’ve earned in profit around double that!

But it’s all supposed to be a bit of fun! (I was told recently by the owner of Bridge Classic Car Competitions).
It’s supposed to be fun for the punter and profit for the company….
As long as it’s a paying punter and the GC don’t find out the company is disregarding postal entries.

Not much fun for those punters who spend time, money and effort to enter via post and whose entries then go ‘missing’!

The house always wins, no more so when the house also cheats!

Just to confirm. I gave you my email address which clearly shows my real name and I messaged you under Alan Metcalfe, not Talbot so it shows how much attention to take.
My entries were generated in my own computer that no one else has access to and sent through the post. If GDPR security was a REAL issue rather than another excuse to flout the GC rules you’d insist on the entries being hand written and sent in an enclosed envelope, but strangely you didn’t when I sent these entries, but now you do, Very strange! I’m guessing this rule appeared after my entries were received.
You mention protecting myself regarding GDPR. That has nothing to do with you. What I do with my personal data is my business. As I mentioned right at the start of this review. These are all unnecessary hoops so you can dismiss legitimate postal entries.

I have left lots of negative reviews for these types of free draw pages. As 99.9% of you do the same dodgey GC rule flouting but look carefully and you’ll see a very positive review for 7 Days Performance who have always dealt with my and many others postal entries perfectly within the GC rules. You should all take a leaf out of their book!

Wow Peter, that is a very lengthy review and it's safe to say; not one of our best! I can help settle this matter very quickly now. You have been messaging me under the name Alan Metcalf asking where your entries are and I have not been able to find any Alan Metcalf entries. If you were to have told me your name was Peter Rookyard that may have helped clear this up quicker. It's best to always give the correct name and message from real Facebook accounts that have some sort of information that can help up with our investigations. Giving very little information and the information you are happy to divulge being incorrect doesn't help matters. Ordinarily we can not answer everybody individually as to whether their entry is successful or not and as I said, we are very transparent with our terms and conditions so if you stick to the bullet points there should be no reason to doubt. I have found 3 of your 5 entries on the system now I know your correct name being Peter and not Alan. Your entries were all computer generated and you did not safeguard yourself against GDPR. Both of these requests are stated clearly, are very important and considered by the UK Gambling Commission to be reasonable requests considering they have approved all of our terms and conditions. Looking at the fact your have left negative comments on a number of competition style sites suggests this might be a common problem for you. The terms are clearly stated across a number of our pages and not as you suggested 'hidden away'. Please also note we were granted a RMG licence back in 2020 which was an honour and something to be proud of. We have been speaking amicably for the past 2 days and all of your communication has been answered quickly and efficiently. Alan or Peter, please help us independent businesses try to succeed by being more honest. You'll find a lot of us are here to help if we have the correct information, no need to hide behind various names, honesty and reading the T&Cs is key and we won't need to be spending our time justifying our decisions. We can crack on with finding amazing cars and making people happy!

With regards to your update on 13/05/22 at 16:33 - "If GDPR security was a REAL issue rather than another excuse to flout the GC rules you’d insist on the entries being hand written and sent in an enclosed envelope, but strangely you don’t" Please note, that is exactly what we ask for to which your entry was neither hand written nor sent in an enclosed envelope. Please see 1.4.2

Why bother.

I've entered this competition several times recently and when i viewed an email today inviting me to enter a new competition to win a Ford Capr, I thought I'd give it a chance and enter it. Like most authentic sites, the ability to checkout as a return user or guest, is usually one of two options. The process is usually straightforward and quickly navigated. This time however, was anything but. Even armed with the usual home/bill address and debit card details, the site couldn't seem to distinguish between a return user or accommodate a new user (register your details and proceed from there). Why any site would basically complicate a fiscal transaction, to their benefit, is beyond me. Either you have an easily navigational smooth transaction or don't bother emailing awareness of your competition and wasting my time and yours.

Good morning Sean, this is very sad to read as we pride ourselves on our customer service. We are always on the other end of a phone, email and our doors are always open if you're local to us. Being a long established business, here in Suffolk since 2004, we like to think we give people a service they like and enjoy! Whether that be our competitions, sales, events or restorations, we are always open and interactive online for the very reason that we want our supporters to be involved too. The Classic Car world is a community and we like to embrace it. As you said yourself, you've entered several times recently so thank you for your support, it shows we've offered you something previously that you've enjoyed. I think it goes without saying that a negative review can be very damaging to a business; whether that business is a large global corporation or a small family run set up like ourselves it is never our intention to receive negative reviews because that can affect other people's decisions, which is a real shame. I would like to try and understand the issue you faced yesterday when using our site. As a returning customer, you have the option to either log in which requires your email and a password or if you are new you can select the form next to this which asks for a little more detail. This is very similar to most other sites online. Did this not happen for you? As much as I would love to turn back time and help you so that you don't feel a low star rating is appropriate, unfortunately I can't so we, as a small business, will have to hope that other's won't be put off by your rating. However, I would ask, in future, please pick up the phone and call us, 01473742038 or email us on info@bridgeclassiccars.co.uk. We don't hide behind an 0800 number or give out a PO address, we are here to help if we can. I think I speak for all local businesses; please consider what impact a negative review can have, especially when they are not given the opportunity to help. The first time we know of your difficulty is reading this review and considering you are a returning customer to us so have purchased from us successfully in the past a simple phone call or email could have rectified the issue almost instantly. Many thank and good luck if you are in for any of our future draws! Craig - Director of Bridge Classic Cars

We had great service from all at Bridge Classic. We had decided to sell our family Type 2 VW and had it in on our drive, we attracted a number of people browsing but nothing serious. Then BC contacted us and told us what they do. Having been to visit them , we loved the showroom & garage ( so clean you could perform operations there) the team are knowledgeable and passionate about the vehicles we love . We agreed on the price , they did a great job getting her all beautiful for the show and sale. Watching live was great, so professional.

Sadly I didn’t win but have been entertaining their competitions since. They seem very nice people and their work with lost classics is commendable. Keep up the good work and hopefully I will be able to the proud owner of one of their classics soo . Well done all
