I have been with BG for over 20yrs it…

I have been with BG for over 20yrs it has taken nearly two years to reach a resolution, even with the help of the ombudsman. This is still ongoing I live in a one bedroom bungalow with 3 radiators and they say I use 9000kwh of gas a year my readings for 1/01/25 to 9/01/26 are 02674– 02956 is definitely not 9000 They are now trying to change my DD to £241 a month from £80 this is not the first time I am writing this while I wait for the lady who took my call and said she would call me back in 10 minutes now at 35 minutes I have tried to switch suppliers but they block the move by saying I owe money

Complete shambles

Complete shambles! They have totally messed up my finances during the one year that I have been with them. They messed yo on collecting my direct debit payments and it's taken 12 months dor them to be able to communicate with their own Gass smart meter ans actually get readings instead of estimating them. I have asked for a prepayment meter for my gas so that I can take control and I have been told by one of the case handlers that I don't qualify for a prepayment meter because I am disabled and keepnmeds in my fridge. Two things that I will be seeking legal advice guidance on. One, my fridge runs on electricity not gas and secondly, are they allowed to actually discriminate me because I am disabled and tell me that's exactly what they are doing ???wow!

Standing Up for Fairness in Hard Times…

Standing Up for Fairness in Hard Times 💬

Since February 2024, I’ve been unemployed, doing my best to stay afloat during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. Recently, I applied for help from the British Gas Energy Trust, hoping for a bit of relief — but was rejected, not for lack of need, but because my arrears were deemed “too high” to qualify for support.

Here’s the reality:
💰 British Gas’s parent company, Centrica plc, made £1.6 billion in operating profit in 2024.
⚖️ Yet, individuals facing genuine hardship are told there’s “no appeal” and “no further information available.”

I believe this kind of decision-making is unjust and disproportionate, especially when companies of such scale have the means — and arguably the responsibility.

This is shocking behaviour for myself, as a customer for over 25 years and now in looking for help. Perhaps you might want to rethink this response?

False information given

Had someone at my door last week from Dontwastemoney on behalf of British Gas
Went through lots of numbers and information about how I could save OVER £250 a year with them
So I agreed to the switch to them
Then as switch over day came everything fell apart
They've given me a dry meter when I asked for a Prepayment meter
Was on the phone for over an hour as they couldn't find my account eventually found it by sending out an engineer
Now between E.org and Which Magazine
I found out they miss sold me by various things they promised I would receive they also promised I could pay by DIRECT DEBIT but again I can't for the fact I'm on the priority list due to ill health ect
So I called them this morning as they threatened me that if I leave within 2 weeks of switching to them I would be charged £75.00
Which again was a lie
The lady just was not willing to admit I was wrongly signed up
These companies NEED to be made aware it is just not on playing on people's disabilities just to get sales and a gold star
This is people's lives there playing with
So as of today I'm switching back Goodbye British Gas
