The seventh Brompton I have bought for self and family. This 12 speed p type has moved on from the first I bought. So well engineered. Well done Brompton
The legendary Brompton fold; and 12 gears for the hills round my way! Loses a star on VFM because of price (but you do get what you pay for, versus 'cheap alternatives'); loses a star on quality due to the rather basic Brompton logos on the main tube: easily damaged, which spoils the look a little; and the chain-stay protection plate, which fell off after a couple of times folding: I had to look up what it is and what it's for; and then fix it back on more tightly.
So much lighter than my M6R, and the high bar feels more natural for me. Although I still love my older Brompton, it was definitely a good idea to buy this P line for me. :) I had a problem with one of the valves, as it was faulty, but the staff at Brompton Junction was very helpful and they changed it, it works fine since then.
Love this bike and very happy with it
Brilliant bike for running around in London. Once you have got the knack of opening and closing the bike it is a doodle!
I've owned a 6 speed Brompton for 10 years and it remains a great bike mainly used for touring in Europe. I decided on the 12 speed p line as after 10 years I thought it was time for a new brompton. I've changed the extended seat post to telescopic seat post (which I thought I'd have to do). I'm 186cm tall and found the extended seat post not quite long enough. I also changed the 50 tooth chainring to a 44 tooth chainring. The lowest gear with the 50 tooth chainring was similar to the lowest gear on my 6 speed with 44 tooth chainring. I now have a lower gear but still a wide range with the 12 gears. It should be a great bike like the last one still is. Only minor issue is 10 years ago I could specify in order to get telescopic post and smaller chainring but not nowadays. Will add the extended seat post and 50tooth chain ring to my collection of spare parts.
Fantastic product. However, I think that the frame should be factory protected in areas where it will suffer from cable rub.
Faster and lighter than my old Brompton. I love Brompton bikes. Always worth the money!
Love the ride but poorly setup in the shop, if at all. I had to adjust the 3 speed hub to be able to use 1st gear and also ended up taking it to a LBS to tune the rear derailleur too as that was sitting between gears and super annoying. You'd expect things to be properly configured at this pricepoint.

After spending many years reading about Brompton's and talking to owners I finally bought one, I decided on the 12 gear P Line when it was was introduced recently as I live in a hilly area and this is ideal. It is really well built and the finish is amazing the blue lacquer finish is so deep. It rides really well and I'm looking forward to many miles and adventures in the future, it is so light and easy to ride and store + it is also a piece of engineering art. I would 100% recommended buying one.
I have had the bike a week and had time to set it up, get it checked by the local service centre and have now ridden it about 15miles. My folding technique is improving. Besides it’s eye watering price….you can get a good electric bike for similar money……it is splendid. It has responded to a lot of adjustments to get it to fit me well. It now rides far better. I am 6’2” and chose the high handlebars and added normal carbon seat post, Ergon grips.and a Brooks cambium C17. I have fitted a Brompton pump and tool kit on order. Weighs in at 11.5kg. Only the rear frame guard for the latch has fallen off needs better sticky…..time for the Areldite. The gears take some acclimatisation….cassette change on the LEFT and KEEP pedalling, hub change on the RIGHT but STOP pedalling. In fact for normal life use the middle hub speed (2) and play with the cassette gears. Very quick on a level smooth surface, when it will pull top gears. dies on the hills but still fun. I bought it for ease of transport on train and plane….it will allow me to explore cities away from home and do my shopping from home without using my car.
Great quality bike
