Grumpy fitter
Grumpy fitter, found evidence of rust ( shock horror) on my daughters 20 year old micra windscreen surround and branded the car a rust bucket! It was only surface discolouration that i offered to rub off with wire wool but he declined , fitting the windscreen but stating the guarantee would be invalid due to corrosion. Afterwards i found he had snapped all the scuttle clips removing it leaving it rattling around, clips only cost a few pounds but thats not the point. It was the cheapest screen i found but let down by a bad tempered fitter and being told the warranty was void if fitted when my old screen was alrwady removed! Date might not be spot on as i cant find the invoice, edit: job no 23553 no idea why you cant find my job in your reply but yes it was you, and i only noticed the clips had been broken later and did phone your office but was told they were probably brittle due to age so not the fitters fault, no reason given why he didnt tell me.

Firstly, we are not entirely certain this review relates to Budget Windscreens, as we have been unable to identify the job from the information provided or locate a corresponding invoice. However, if this was one of our installations, we would certainly like the opportunity to investigate further.
Where corrosion is found around a windscreen aperture — particularly on a vehicle approaching 20 years old — our technicians are required to advise customers that existing rust can affect the integrity of the seal and may impact warranty coverage in that specific area. This is standard industry practice and intended to be transparent rather than dismissive.
We are disappointed to hear your comments regarding the fitter’s manner, as this is not the level of professionalism we aim to provide. Equally, if any clips were damaged during removal, we would always prefer the matter to be reported directly to us so we have the opportunity to resolve it promptly.
If you would like us to look into this properly, please contact us directly with the vehicle registration and approximate booking date so we can review the job internally.

Good service, poor cleaning up…
Guy was very friendly and the refitting the seal was great I’ve had no leaks since, he didn’t break my windscreen so that was a bonus. However, he didn’t tidy up very well after himself though my car was covered in the seal stuff they use.
