PUBLIC WARNING

PUBLIC WARNING – Bun Bros & Wolt (Skiathos)

Please be extremely careful ordering from Bun Bros through Wolt in Skiathos if you have dietary requirements or medical dietary conditions.

I ordered a meat-free burger as a personal lifestyle choice, while my daughter ordered a gluten-free burger because she has coeliac disease — a serious autoimmune medical condition where gluten attacks and damages the small intestine. This is not a preference or simple intolerance. Even small amounts of gluten contamination can cause severe pain, inflammation and potential long-term health complications.

We both ate several bites before realising the food was completely wrong.

When my daughter called the restaurant, Bun Bros claimed the vegetarian and gluten-free options were from “last year’s menu” and blamed Wolt for still displaying them online. We were told they would investigate and call us back — that never happened.

Wolt then refused to refund us until we provided screenshots proving the options were still being advertised on their app. During this stressful process, my daughter’s stomach began reacting almost immediately with pain, loud intestinal distress and worsening symptoms. Because we were due to fly back to the UK the next day, we were left researching medical advice and what to do if her symptoms worsened.

Eventually, after significant stress and upset, Wolt agreed to refund the €42.99 order — although at the time of writing this still has not appeared back in our account. Every item of food had to be thrown away.

My daughter then suffered an extremely uncomfortable night followed by an itchy rash lasting two days. We still do not know what internal damage this contamination may have caused.

Accurate allergen and dietary information is a basic responsibility, especially when customers are relying on it for medical reasons. This situation caused unnecessary pain, stress and worry, and it was handled very poorly from start to finish.

Please think carefully before ordering if you rely on accurate dietary or allergen information.

Bad COLD Food and Bad Customer Service

I ordered 4 items from their online menu. Then I received two phone calls verifying my order. Why - when its on their online menu - are they asking me to verify it? At a time when I was already expecting delivery - they were still ringing me to verify my order!!
The order arrived and my item was not correct. As a courtesy I rang them to inform them that they - as a new business - have something not working right in their ordering system..... They rang me twice after I ordered to verify my order and STILL managed to get my order wrong.
I did not expect the attitude I got from their manager. 'Well what did you order'. 'Well maybe someone else is eating it'. I explained no this was not the case and that I wanted to speak to the manager. I then spoke to Anna the manager who wouldn't know customer service from her @ss. Again with the attitude. No apologies for getting my order wrong. She then they asked me to return the item to the restaurant. It was cold when it arrived and now it was freezing. I said why do you want it back - do you not believe me? - No I need proof of the mistake so I can deduct it from my employees wages. I advised the woman that this was illegal in Ireland, this is not communist China. I waited another 30 minutes for the correct item and when the delivery guy came with my new item. He said you can keep the original item. I said no I will not pay for the disposal of your item, you take it back to Ann who so desperately wants it back . The correct item, was again cold and disappointing. I will never order from them again. I cannot believe their terrible customer service two days after they open. I really hope they go out of business. They deserve to!
