Terrible service. Keep asking unnecessary questions to delay/ frustrate my modest claim.
I have seen the below message but have not received any email. I am not going to post my membership number on the internet. I did file a formal complaint with BUPA but they just ignored it so I do not have any faith in their service or enthusiasm to help their customers.

The Company's ability to resolve every concern raised and ensure that issues raised in respect to claims and refunds were looked into and closed out on. I actually appreciate the entire team members who handled my issues at different levels.

Alrhough when requesting a GoP it is usually issued within 48hrs. A recent invoice had not been settled and this is the reason not rating 5!

Last week I have notified Bupa of an unsettled claim, pending for more than a week, which is unusual (in my recent experience claims are paid within a week or so). Further to the said notification, the claim was paid immediately and a customer service manager reverted to me accordinly. Via email. Well done!

The customer services team followed up very quickly after a categorisation discrepancy was experienced with the app and subsequent pre-authorisation letter.
This was remedied quickly, smoothly and updated with complete satisfaction.

I have 8 claims pending from December 2025 which had been pending beyond 10days. I followed up with the Bupa team who ensured that all the claims were paid. I provided a feedback on my experience with the Bupa team and there was a follow up by a Customer Experience Executive on my overall rating. I provided the basis for my rating and received assurance that my concerns will be addressed, especially relating to the need for regular communication on status of claims.

One of the worst onboarding experiences we’ve ever had
Since transferring to Bupa, the experience has been an absolute mess.
Before switching, my wife spent over an hour with Compare the Market to make sure our full private health history was correctly transferred. We have both been insured continuously since birth (initially under our parents, then under our own policies). Despite this, Bupa has managed to get multiple fundamental things wrong.
They incorrectly placed me on a waiting period, meaning I couldn’t claim a private health rebate on my glasses. Even worse, they have failed to recognise our prior cover history and have now applied a Lifetime Health Cover loading something that should never have happened and is entirely due to their own administrative errors.
This has been incredibly time-consuming, stressful, and frankly unacceptable. We did everything right upfront to avoid exactly this situation, yet we are still paying the price for Bupa’s mistakes.
If you value accurate onboarding, competent administration, and not having to constantly chase errors that affect your premiums and entitlements, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
