Staff miserable and rude, totally spoilt our experience. Way to go expensive for such a small tunnel.

The butterfly world is great, day spoiled because of parking fine even though I paid the £3 and got a ticket but it was not a parking ticket !!! Avoid at all costs..waiting for my appeal to be assessed.

Will never be visiting again thanks to a hefty £100 parking eye fine lacking adequate signage that would have informed me that parking in a disabled bay using my valid disabled badge didn’t exempt us from a parking fee. There’s no point in appealing as greedy parking eye don’t give a damn. The butterfly farm should be making customers aware of this when they pay for a ticket especially if they want return visitors.

Avoid this, the Hedge Puzzle and Wye Valley Visitor Centre in its entirety. You will receive a £100 parking fine from Parkingeye despite there being no signage that we could see

A lovely visit ruined by a £100 ParkingEye fine for staying 16 minutes extra (the result of PayByPhone app problem) at Easter. Mr Heyes, the landowner and Maze Planter - whom is so friendly and welcoming at the entrance - does not care about paying visitors receiving unfair fines after visiting and refuses to offer cancelation despite his right to do so.

UPDATE March 2025 - I am still battling this, but in February 2025 the "5-minute-rule" was brought into effect meaning that anyone who was frustrated by network/app issues in making a parking payment can not be fined - do not pay their scam PCNs.

Avoid like the plague.

It is a shame that the lovely day out was ruined by the parking. The Butterfly farm, the maze and golf were great. But a couple of weeks later we (and the two other families we went with) all got parking tickets in the post for £100!

Beware - the clock starts ticking on the parking as soon as you drive in! It took us about 10 mins to find a space, park, down load the app, find the parking area code (in very small writing) on the notices, and get a parking session started. We all got back to our cars as the session ended. Loaded the kids into the cars, said goodbye and drove out - though unfortunately this was about 6 minutes after the end of the session. That extra 16 mins was counted as over the the paid for limit and we have been fined. I am sure you are meant to get a tolerance to the limit to allow to park, pay and drive out etc. A great day out ruined. And they dont seem to care.

It is a great shame, as I went there as a child and wanted to take my kids. I will never return.

Draconian ParkingEye Gestapo operate here, fully supported by the management (who are also the wholly indifferent, money-grabbing car-park land owners). ParkingEye make their living by 'fining' you for anything they can think of and dismissing any appeal regardless of evidence. They frighten enough people into paying to keep themselves alive. Give this place a MASSIVE steer clear unless you want a £100 bill to arrive on your doorstep two weeks later. Go find friendlier, nicer people in the locality. Stick together and boycott ParkingEye facilities and land owners.

Had a lovely time seeing the butterflies but the memory will be spoiled by the £100 parking fine I recieved afterwards.

Just received a £100 parking ticket from Parking Eye,was unaware we had to pay parking fee on wye valleys own car park..They charge admission fee and then a parking charge on top..For bonafide visitors they could refund the parking charge when visiting. Just another money grabbing business.Stay away.

The Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo finally re-opened at the weekend after substantial food damage. I wanted to go and check it out. I am glad that I did as it was just fantastic. The car park is free at the moment. The girl on reception was very welcoming and professional but the hothouse where the butterflies are was just fantastic. A good variety of butterflies, some of which landed upon you, kept everyone entertained. Good value for money and I shall go again and again.

The centre is marvellous, but they have decided to employ the services of Parking Eye and you could well fall foul of understanding the rules of the car park. In my instance this was not helped by the fact that a staff member gave me incorrect information and did not tell me I could have added time to my existing ticket. The Manager was also not very helpful when I complained, but he did listen. I would suggest that if you do go, pay for the maximum time and take careful note of the time you arrive, or you could end up with a £100 fine. Better still boycott the centre until they put into place a farier system where you know how much to pay and don't end up lining the pockets of Parking Eye..
