Worst customer service ever

Yesterday, 9/23 my bank finally credited me for the defective modem this company sent me a month ago 8/22 I returned 8/26 because (1.) It was not refurbished as they claimed but just used because they did not even do a factory reset and still had prior used account info in it (2.) It was defective and CenturyLink support could not get it work as the wifi transmittion would cease to work within 5 to 10 minutes of start up costing time and lots of frustration. (3) Company attitude is the worst ever... "too bad so send it back at your cost for refund or replacement." It has been 25 days since it was delivered back for a refund at my cost and they still did not refund the money. I had the credit card charge reversed of course at my time to complete the documentation and at my cost to send back their defective product. Never ever would I recommend this company who does not even have a phone number to call.

Steer Clear

Steer clear of these folks. I ordered a modem before learning (because it wasn't made obvious on the item page) that it was refurbished. Cancelled order immediately. Called to confirm cancellation. Actually got someone on the phone who said he'd cancel the order. Five days later got an email (after several emails sent by me to confirm the cancellation) telling me that there was a cancellation policy that I agreed to upon purchase. My bad for not reading it. I was told to visit the website. Could NOT log on. Tried to set up new account but was told that I entered the incorrect "captcha". There was NO "captcha" on the page. Thought I could try to reset a password but there was no link to reset password on the login page. Finally learned that there's a $10 cancellation fee even if the cancellation was made less than an hour after the order was placed and it was still "awaiting fulfillment". If this company put as much effort into honest marketing, product transparency and site accessibility as they did into questionable business practices they might get better reviews.

Run away, do not purchase from them

I wish I could give this company zero stars, but I guess that is not an option. They are very deceptive in their marketing. They bury deep in the description of their products that the item is refurbished, all while the rest of the listing makes it seem like you are getting a new modem. Also their products are not actually refurbished, in their fine print they actually made their own definition for "refurbished" that basically says they don't have to actually do anything at all to verify the operation of the router. They actually sent me a "refurbished" router that would not even turn on. To top it all off they are extremely rude in their e-mails...worst customer service (or lack thereof) I have seen in a long time.

Buyer beware!

Buyer beware!

No telephone technical support. Only email support. Out of the box the modem was unreachable because it was presumably still configured for the customer who had this modem. The DHCP functionality was disabled. After over a week of waiting for technical support, I was able to reset the modem back to factory default. I'm not sure why that wasn't part of their "testing" procedures.

This is no Amazon...admittedly, I purchased the wrong modem. Don't bother returning anything, they will charge a "restocking" fee and return shipping is on you unless the item is defective. After multiple attempts to get an address from the email support; the only responses were "refer to the policy you accepted when you made the purchase". No address provided in any of the support emails.

The only address on their website is invalid. I attempted to send my modem back...Returned to Sender. Unless they contact me to tell me they will pay for shipping, I'm keeping the modem that I can't use so they don't have additional inventory to scam someone else.

They must curate their reviews on their site because you can't find one that isn't 5 stars. There is no link to review a purchased product even when the send you an email requesting a review. Their return policy is "Accepted" at time of purchase like any End User Licence Agreement that is presented to a user for any download. Accept it or don't buy.

I bought a router from this company

I bought a router from this company. What arrived was a beat-up router (I'm not kidding, what did they do, throw it against the wall repeatedly?) with no instructions, no literature from the company, in an old box. I contacted them via email telling them I was sent the wrong product and asking for them to ship the new one I ordered. They told me, "...you knew you were buying a refurbished...." After three back and forth emails, I decided to call it a learning experience. They are the nastiest customer service I have ever experienced. They're not a respectable business and that's why I'm leaving this review. I'm out the money I sent them because they refused to send me a new modem. Within 30 minutes of posting this review, I got an email (they said it was from their "legal department"); clearly they're using intimidation to try to get people not to leave reviews.

Customer ordered an item from us and confirmed that he didn't perform the due diligence in reading the items description page BEFORE purchase as we provided the items condition, a specific definition of the items conditiion, and specifically list each and every accessory that would be included as buyer just ASSUMED based on price what condition might be but upon doing actual research you will find it is priced at a significant discount compared to a new item online. Please Please Please just read what you are buying as this certainly was a waste of time and money for both parties for what is an easily preventable issue of read before you buy. We have over 99.6% on Amazon and Ebay as a TOP RATED SELLER and have over 3000 POSITIVE REVIEWS on our website so if providing a 1 year warranty for our customers so for those who are able to read the items description page and purchase the right model for their provider they don't have any issues, unfortunately this was not the case in this transaction. So again, PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY AND COMMUNICATE AND THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AN EASY RESOLVE.

I should have read the reviews. All of them not just the first two fake ones. My mistake. I purchased a new modem from buyyourownmodem and received a used modem of the wrong model that doesn't work.

This despite even being presented with a notice stating that before you can complete checkout please confirm that you have read the items description page word for word as you can't complete checkout from us without acknowledging or accepting such terms so that we can prevent these preventable misunderstanding from happening. However, we have also already issued an RMA to return the unit and are just waiting for it to arrive back so we can get the return processed and refunded for you. In reality we don't have this problem very often thank goodness and in fact have THOUSANDS OF POSITIVE REVIEWS on our website, over 95% positive feeback on Amazon, and are a Top rated seller on Ebay with years of taking care of our customers as you can't just "Fake" reviews on these sites but I understand how you would need to say that in order to make it look like you are not the 4% of people who just flat out didn't read what you were buying and then went on a witch hunt after the fact when you found out this was the case..

I would stay away from this company

I would stay away from this company. I ordered a modem and when it came in, it was clearly a used product(not even in an original box). Comcast would not activate the modem, saying this modem model was not intended for sale. The cable company basically said it was stolen.This company wants you to tell Comcast that it's a different model. I didn't even hook it up after that. Read their return policy carefully!!!! I had to pay to ship the item back($17.15). It then took almost the 30 days for a refund to the credit card, minus the 20 to 30 percent restocking fee. It was a waste of time and money for me. ALSO...They offer a $5 dollar rebate for a good review...maybe why there are so many good reviews on their website????

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS "WEBSITE"
I purchased a DSL Modem/Router and it was defective on arrival. Would not keep the signal and the WiFi wouldn't work. The modem still had the previous owners login credentials which means it was not set back to factory default. I shipped the unit back using UPS so I could track it and after a month, I still have had no response and no refund. No Way to contact the seller other than email. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

BUYER BEWARE

I bought a modem to give as a gift. I received it with multiple cosmetic defects to the point it was embarrassing to gift. Sure it may have "worked" but it looked terrible and wasn't even Verizon. I asked for a return or exchange and, because it "worked" I could return but would be charged a 20% restocking fee, pay the return shipping, AND be charged the original shipping THAT I ALREADY PAID TO HAVE IT SHIPPED (I paid for expedited and received it late by the way)! I asked to speak to a manager and was denied. They were EXTREMELY RUDE to me. I am disgusted and posting my review everywhere I can.

Don't buy from this site!

These people are very bad. They sent me a used modem which was dirty and not well packed. The power cord was loose. Even worse, the modem was dead on arrive - It won't power up. Then, they requested me to spend money to send back the dead piece via FedEx. After they received it, they refused to refund me. I have to call both PayPal and and my credit card. Don't buy from these people!

Poor quality product and even worst customer service

I purchased a G1100 modem from them. It had a Frontier label on it but FiOS firmware. The modem worked for several months but then suddenly failed.

I thought it would be OK because the modem carried a one-year warranty, but as I quickly learned it was quite costly to get them to provide me a replacement as I had to pay both to ship it back to them and have them send me a replacement.

I spent $30-$40 to cover the shipping expenses and then it took them several days to ship me my replacement modem. When it arrived I was pleased to see that the replacement had a Fios symbol on it, but it had frontier firmware. The problem with that is that Verizon cannot update a modem that has frontier firmware. I spent several hours talking to multiple levels of support at Verizon and none was able to update the firmware on the modem.

I reached out to this company to ask them to ship me a new one, but I was met with nothing but resistance. Multiple times I requested that they send me a modem similar to the one I originally had (i.e. with Fios firmware) and every time they had a new reason why they wouldn’t do so.

When I told them that I was going to post negative reviews like this, they responded with this:

“Everything you just stated was listed and presented and accepted by you
in order to complete checkout and then you try and extort us that if we
follow through with what you agreed to then you will smear us? Again,
our attorney has been notified of such threats for any necessary future
action as unfortunately it does turn into much more than it ever had to
be once you use extortion but we just sent the item out exactly how the
unit was listed as the biggest mistake was having the 1 year warranty to
as if it was 60 days then you would be SOL like every other seller that
offers this as this is probably why most don't over extended warranties
because of the few customers that abuse them and complain even after
having the alternative to replace it this long after purchase. There is
nothing more to say.”

If you want to deal with a company that offers this level of customer service as well as products of questionable quality (and questionable origin per other reviews... maybe that’s why the firmware on these modems never seems to match the logo on them) then go right ahead. If you want a product from a reputable company that will last… Look elsewhere

Very sorry to hear that you are having problems with the modem you used from us for "SEVERAL MONTHS" as you confirm but I must say we are quite shocked at your accusations. Allow us to fulfill the context as you purchased a modem from us OVER 6 MONTHS AGO and stated that you are now having wifi trouble which could be a number of things besides the modem. Nonetheless, we back up our customers with a 1 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY and so you can't lose money from us as you paid $70 for this item which Verizon currently sells for $200 and 6 months later you come back to us and we say we have your back and will issue you a replacement and you smear us?!

Per our purchase terms that were presented and accepted by you at time of checkout we do stated that you would be responsible for shipping both ways which should cost you no more than $15 using the same method we used to ship it to you but somehow you blew $30-$40 and want to blame us for this?
Had you purchased this on Amazon or Ebay or most any other vendor then good luck getting any help as their policy is 60-90 days standard but luckily you bought it from us and so we said we would be willing to issue you a replacement and somehow we end up with a 1 star. If you rented this unit from Verizon then it would cost you $10/month or $120/yr of which you only paid $70 from us with a 1 yr warranty and so we design our warranty so that our customers can't lose!

We are sorry you are not happy that you weren't sent a newer replacement than what was on the original items description page but we will not tolerate customer extortion in threatening to leave bad reviews and smear us if we don't bow to your terms as this is what the terms and conditions are for at time of checkout so we both know how the warranty process is handled.

We have sold THOUSANDS of these unit that customer love as they get a great discount and warranty and in the end you got a working replacement that was the from the exact same description page you originally purchased from and wanted something different and then became hostile and made threats and we responded accordingly.

We have over 99.6% on Amazon and Ebay as a TOP RATED SELLER and have over 3000 POSITIVE REVIEWS on our website so if providing a 1 year warranty for our customers so someone like you can send it back for a replacement if needed is wrong then we don't want to be right and we will just have to turn our cheek and take your cheap shot 1 star review.

Buyer Beware-No Reliable Customer Service

I ordered a modem from Buyyourownmodem.com to replace the modem that was damaged during a lightning storm. The modem I ordered was exactly the one that I had. I was sent a completely different modem. When I contacted customer service, they told me that I should be happy as the modem they sent was a better upgraded modem than what I had ordered. The only way to contact them is through email so if they don’t want to respond to inquiries, they don’t. I am stuck with a modem I didn’t order and it doesn’t work as well in my area with my provider than the one I ordered and didn’t receive. I will not be doing business with them again due to the total lack of any kind if customer service.

Very sorry to hear that you did not like our customer service try and explain to you what you need as they are not paid on commission so they are just trying to help you based on experience as there is a lot of bad information that goes around when it comes to what models providers will accept. We do charge a restocking fee when customers order the wrong item as it is very costly and timely for both parties yet is easily avoidable so we try and be proactive to try and help you get the correct model you need the first time which most of our customers love although there are some that would prefer we send the wrong model in ignorance and they usually end up here. We respond to ALL of our customer emails within hours or less and don't want our customers to have to wait on hold so we allow them to contact us on their own time and record all communication via email which also allows us to attach helpful set up guides that can't be send over the phone so many of our customers have found this to be much more convenient. You are more than welcome to return your item if you are not happy in accordance with our return policy as otherwise there is no scenario where you are "stuck" with anything from us since per our return policy we accept all returns. Device as Described, Arrived Promptly, Excellent Condition, Works Well

I ordered a modem/gateway (refurbished/used) from Buyyourownmodem.com to replace the current modem that I had. I always buy my own device, rather than pay the monthly fee to lease it from the provider, and purchasing refurbished units is a way to save versus buying new. The caveat is that you must get a good device, in good working order, and, with Buyyourownmodem.com, I did. The device arrived earlier than expected, was well packaged, and, while it was just the device, a power supply, and an ethernet cable (no box, instructions, etc.) this is what I expected.

The device itself was clean and in excellent condition. It basically looked new. I had it connected and activated with my provider in less than 20 minutes.

The only issue I had is not with the device but with the fact that Spectrum pushes a config file to the modem, upon connection, that effectively disables this device's ability to serve as a router/WiFi device, though it has that capability. That's annoying but not particularly a problem. I just used my current router, and used this device as a modem only. At it's price point, and the fact that it was an upgrade from my previous device, it was still well worth it.

I'm very happy with the purchase, shipping, product, etc., and would buy from Buyyourownmodem.com again.

Work perfectly right out of the box absolutely no issues at all. I suggest saving a configuration file from the modem you’re currently renting if you do sell it it’s simply upload it when you install this new one and it will work exactly the same literally took me no more than five minutes to set up.

TERRIBLE COMPANY

found this website, seamed ok, good price for a "refurbished" modem. Well I receive it wrapped in two USPS bags and it was dirty, nicked up and wouldn't work. contacted these rude, nasty people and it all went down hill. They or whomever at this company did was just quote there policy like I was wrong for having it not work. They threaten lawyers, if you say your going to review them LOL. Please save a headache and shop elsewhere. They have NO customer service skills at all. DON'T SHOP Here.

Very sorry for any confusion as many assume just based on price what a condition of an item should be, but EVERY items description page will state what condition the item is in with an associated definition listed in the terms and even specifically lists each and every accessory that would be included as I am sorry you somehow missed it. Also, we offer a 1 year extended warranty on many of our products so our customers know that we have their back and they can't lost money buying from us as most products are far less than $140 which is what the rental costs would be per year if you rented from your provider. So even if your item died one day after the 1 year warranty you still would have saved money! You can't lost when you buy from us but we understand that if you didn't read the items description page how this may cause some confusion but it is all there. Also, we don't entertain extortion threats from customers as we are advised to forward any threats of extortion to our legal counsel to handle from belligerent customers which luckily we don't have to deal with very often. We have over 97% positive feedback on Ebay and Amazon as a Powerseller and over 3000+ positive reviews on our website so we are sorry you fell under the 3% we weren't given the chance to help.

Replaced my Cable company modem

I finally wiser up to saving myself a little money. For years I was just lazy and didn’t want to go through the hassle to buy my own modem. Well, it was painless. Once I received the modem, I called the cable company tech team and they did all of the work. It took all of 5 minutes for them to recognize the new modem and I was up and running without a glitch. Save your hard earned money and buy your own modem!

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. They advertise online that they're modems are compatible with Verizon and I purchased one. The modem was not compatible. They will not refund your money. What makes things worse is that they are nasty and condescending as well.

Very sorry to hear that you had problems but the Quantum G1100 is on the Verizon approved list and THOUSANDS OF THEM have been installed on their network so you must have had their DSL service and purchased the wrong item for your needs of which we are sorry. I noticed another review 2 down where someone left a positve review stating that Verizon told them "they may have trouble" but the customer confirms that they did not. You have to wise up and understand that the tech gets paid a commission to sell you one of thiers and so there is an obvious conflict of interest so it is always in your best interest to self install a modem then be fed and swallow what a tech feeds you. Also, we gave you return instructions to return the item but you never sent it back and thus the reason why a refund was not issued as per our return policy we accept ALL RETURNS so you are not being honesty as no one certainly told you they "won't refund your money". We actually offer a 1 year warranty on the item to back up our customers and so they can't lose vs renting it as good luck finding that anywhere else.

Works great
