Worst customer service ever
Yesterday, 9/23 my bank finally credited me for the defective modem this company sent me a month ago 8/22 I returned 8/26 because (1.) It was not refurbished as they claimed but just used because they did not even do a factory reset and still had prior used account info in it (2.) It was defective and CenturyLink support could not get it work as the wifi transmittion would cease to work within 5 to 10 minutes of start up costing time and lots of frustration. (3) Company attitude is the worst ever... "too bad so send it back at your cost for refund or replacement." It has been 25 days since it was delivered back for a refund at my cost and they still did not refund the money. I had the credit card charge reversed of course at my time to complete the documentation and at my cost to send back their defective product. Never ever would I recommend this company who does not even have a phone number to call.
Steer Clear
Steer clear of these folks. I ordered a modem before learning (because it wasn't made obvious on the item page) that it was refurbished. Cancelled order immediately. Called to confirm cancellation. Actually got someone on the phone who said he'd cancel the order. Five days later got an email (after several emails sent by me to confirm the cancellation) telling me that there was a cancellation policy that I agreed to upon purchase. My bad for not reading it. I was told to visit the website. Could NOT log on. Tried to set up new account but was told that I entered the incorrect "captcha". There was NO "captcha" on the page. Thought I could try to reset a password but there was no link to reset password on the login page. Finally learned that there's a $10 cancellation fee even if the cancellation was made less than an hour after the order was placed and it was still "awaiting fulfillment". If this company put as much effort into honest marketing, product transparency and site accessibility as they did into questionable business practices they might get better reviews.
Run away, do not purchase from them
I wish I could give this company zero stars, but I guess that is not an option. They are very deceptive in their marketing. They bury deep in the description of their products that the item is refurbished, all while the rest of the listing makes it seem like you are getting a new modem. Also their products are not actually refurbished, in their fine print they actually made their own definition for "refurbished" that basically says they don't have to actually do anything at all to verify the operation of the router. They actually sent me a "refurbished" router that would not even turn on. To top it all off they are extremely rude in their e-mails...worst customer service (or lack thereof) I have seen in a long time.

No telephone technical support. Only email support. Out of the box the modem was unreachable because it was presumably still configured for the customer who had this modem. The DHCP functionality was disabled. After over a week of waiting for technical support, I was able to reset the modem back to factory default. I'm not sure why that wasn't part of their "testing" procedures.
This is no Amazon...admittedly, I purchased the wrong modem. Don't bother returning anything, they will charge a "restocking" fee and return shipping is on you unless the item is defective. After multiple attempts to get an address from the email support; the only responses were "refer to the policy you accepted when you made the purchase". No address provided in any of the support emails.
The only address on their website is invalid. I attempted to send my modem back...Returned to Sender. Unless they contact me to tell me they will pay for shipping, I'm keeping the modem that I can't use so they don't have additional inventory to scam someone else.
They must curate their reviews on their site because you can't find one that isn't 5 stars. There is no link to review a purchased product even when the send you an email requesting a review. Their return policy is "Accepted" at time of purchase like any End User Licence Agreement that is presented to a user for any download. Accept it or don't buy.
I bought a router from this company
I bought a router from this company. What arrived was a beat-up router (I'm not kidding, what did they do, throw it against the wall repeatedly?) with no instructions, no literature from the company, in an old box. I contacted them via email telling them I was sent the wrong product and asking for them to ship the new one I ordered. They told me, "...you knew you were buying a refurbished...." After three back and forth emails, I decided to call it a learning experience. They are the nastiest customer service I have ever experienced. They're not a respectable business and that's why I'm leaving this review. I'm out the money I sent them because they refused to send me a new modem. Within 30 minutes of posting this review, I got an email (they said it was from their "legal department"); clearly they're using intimidation to try to get people not to leave reviews.

I should have read the reviews. All of them not just the first two fake ones. My mistake. I purchased a new modem from buyyourownmodem and received a used modem of the wrong model that doesn't work.

These guys are so good, you will never find such product at a lower price than here. Last month I have purchased a compatible modem for Xfinity and it's just working fine.
I would stay away from this company
I would stay away from this company. I ordered a modem and when it came in, it was clearly a used product(not even in an original box). Comcast would not activate the modem, saying this modem model was not intended for sale. The cable company basically said it was stolen.This company wants you to tell Comcast that it's a different model. I didn't even hook it up after that. Read their return policy carefully!!!! I had to pay to ship the item back($17.15). It then took almost the 30 days for a refund to the credit card, minus the 20 to 30 percent restocking fee. It was a waste of time and money for me. ALSO...They offer a $5 dollar rebate for a good review...maybe why there are so many good reviews on their website????

I purchased a DSL Modem/Router and it was defective on arrival. Would not keep the signal and the WiFi wouldn't work. The modem still had the previous owners login credentials which means it was not set back to factory default. I shipped the unit back using UPS so I could track it and after a month, I still have had no response and no refund. No Way to contact the seller other than email. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

BUYER BEWARE
I bought a modem to give as a gift. I received it with multiple cosmetic defects to the point it was embarrassing to gift. Sure it may have "worked" but it looked terrible and wasn't even Verizon. I asked for a return or exchange and, because it "worked" I could return but would be charged a 20% restocking fee, pay the return shipping, AND be charged the original shipping THAT I ALREADY PAID TO HAVE IT SHIPPED (I paid for expedited and received it late by the way)! I asked to speak to a manager and was denied. They were EXTREMELY RUDE to me. I am disgusted and posting my review everywhere I can.

Don't buy from this site!
These people are very bad. They sent me a used modem which was dirty and not well packed. The power cord was loose. Even worse, the modem was dead on arrive - It won't power up. Then, they requested me to spend money to send back the dead piece via FedEx. After they received it, they refused to refund me. I have to call both PayPal and and my credit card. Don't buy from these people!

Poor quality product and even worst customer service
I purchased a G1100 modem from them. It had a Frontier label on it but FiOS firmware. The modem worked for several months but then suddenly failed.
I thought it would be OK because the modem carried a one-year warranty, but as I quickly learned it was quite costly to get them to provide me a replacement as I had to pay both to ship it back to them and have them send me a replacement.
I spent $30-$40 to cover the shipping expenses and then it took them several days to ship me my replacement modem. When it arrived I was pleased to see that the replacement had a Fios symbol on it, but it had frontier firmware. The problem with that is that Verizon cannot update a modem that has frontier firmware. I spent several hours talking to multiple levels of support at Verizon and none was able to update the firmware on the modem.
I reached out to this company to ask them to ship me a new one, but I was met with nothing but resistance. Multiple times I requested that they send me a modem similar to the one I originally had (i.e. with Fios firmware) and every time they had a new reason why they wouldn’t do so.
When I told them that I was going to post negative reviews like this, they responded with this:
“Everything you just stated was listed and presented and accepted by you
in order to complete checkout and then you try and extort us that if we
follow through with what you agreed to then you will smear us? Again,
our attorney has been notified of such threats for any necessary future
action as unfortunately it does turn into much more than it ever had to
be once you use extortion but we just sent the item out exactly how the
unit was listed as the biggest mistake was having the 1 year warranty to
as if it was 60 days then you would be SOL like every other seller that
offers this as this is probably why most don't over extended warranties
because of the few customers that abuse them and complain even after
having the alternative to replace it this long after purchase. There is
nothing more to say.”
If you want to deal with a company that offers this level of customer service as well as products of questionable quality (and questionable origin per other reviews... maybe that’s why the firmware on these modems never seems to match the logo on them) then go right ahead. If you want a product from a reputable company that will last… Look elsewhere

Buyer Beware-No Reliable Customer Service
I ordered a modem from Buyyourownmodem.com to replace the modem that was damaged during a lightning storm. The modem I ordered was exactly the one that I had. I was sent a completely different modem. When I contacted customer service, they told me that I should be happy as the modem they sent was a better upgraded modem than what I had ordered. The only way to contact them is through email so if they don’t want to respond to inquiries, they don’t. I am stuck with a modem I didn’t order and it doesn’t work as well in my area with my provider than the one I ordered and didn’t receive. I will not be doing business with them again due to the total lack of any kind if customer service.

Device as Described, Arrived Promptly, Excellent Condition, Works Well
I ordered a modem/gateway (refurbished/used) from Buyyourownmodem.com to replace the current modem that I had. I always buy my own device, rather than pay the monthly fee to lease it from the provider, and purchasing refurbished units is a way to save versus buying new. The caveat is that you must get a good device, in good working order, and, with Buyyourownmodem.com, I did. The device arrived earlier than expected, was well packaged, and, while it was just the device, a power supply, and an ethernet cable (no box, instructions, etc.) this is what I expected.
The device itself was clean and in excellent condition. It basically looked new. I had it connected and activated with my provider in less than 20 minutes.
The only issue I had is not with the device but with the fact that Spectrum pushes a config file to the modem, upon connection, that effectively disables this device's ability to serve as a router/WiFi device, though it has that capability. That's annoying but not particularly a problem. I just used my current router, and used this device as a modem only. At it's price point, and the fact that it was an upgrade from my previous device, it was still well worth it.
I'm very happy with the purchase, shipping, product, etc., and would buy from Buyyourownmodem.com again.

TERRIBLE COMPANY
found this website, seamed ok, good price for a "refurbished" modem. Well I receive it wrapped in two USPS bags and it was dirty, nicked up and wouldn't work. contacted these rude, nasty people and it all went down hill. They or whomever at this company did was just quote there policy like I was wrong for having it not work. They threaten lawyers, if you say your going to review them LOL. Please save a headache and shop elsewhere. They have NO customer service skills at all. DON'T SHOP Here.

Replaced my Cable company modem
I finally wiser up to saving myself a little money. For years I was just lazy and didn’t want to go through the hassle to buy my own modem. Well, it was painless. Once I received the modem, I called the cable company tech team and they did all of the work. It took all of 5 minutes for them to recognize the new modem and I was up and running without a glitch. Save your hard earned money and buy your own modem!

This company is a scam. They advertise online that they're modems are compatible with Verizon and I purchased one. The modem was not compatible. They will not refund your money. What makes things worse is that they are nasty and condescending as well.
