I have been using Gala/Buzz bingo for 20 years, and most of the time it's been a pleasurable experience. But sadly, over the past few years I have noticed that things are going downhill in many ways.
I attended Lincoln Buzz on Sunday evening and I had to do a double take. We are in December. The time when most of the population put up xmas trees, fairy lights, tinsel and other decorations. But when I walked into my local club I was horrified, shocked, very disappointed to name a few emotions, to see so few decorations i struggled to see them. Here is a list of what my friend and I counted:-
1 small, 5ft Christmas tree with 2 or 3 bingo baubles.
1 cardboard xmas tree cut out on the wall
3 or 4 lengths of tinsel
That was it!!!!!! And they are asking people to go to the Christmas party.
Its awful. People/customers need cheering up at the moment. Finances are a problem. Home life is a struggle. And people want to go out to bingo to have a cheerful time. To have a break from home life, where things may not be happy.
Not so many years ago when I went to bingo at lincoln Buzz there were loads of decorations. Metres and metres of tinsel, a big tree with lights and decorations, ceiling decorations. There was a tree in the reception area. The customer knew it was Christmas. They walked into the club and were smiling because it looked cheerful, welcoming, a nice place to spend an evening, and maybe win a bit of money.
I was asked if I was going to attend the xmas party. I said no, for the 1st time in 17 years, because what's the point in going to a xmas party when Buzz or the staff either can't afford (which i find very hard to believe!!!), to put decorations up to make the hall look cheerful and welcoming.
I spoke with quite a few customers over the past week regarding the lack of cheer and decorations and everyone said they were very disappointed with the lack of Christmas cheer, decorations etc and said the same as my freind and myself, that they wouldn't be going to the party.
Pull your finger out Buzz because you are losing lots of customers because of this sort of thing. Total apathy springs to mind.
Another issue I, and others I spoke with are also extremely disappointed with the appearance of the club. To say it looks 'tired' is an understatement. Ive been using Buzz, previously Gala in lincoln for 18 years and in all that time it has been decorated once. And that was when it was changed from Gala to Buzz, approximately 7 or 8 years ago. The seats are filthy, and haven't been recovered in the time I've been going there. I also took photos of a whole bench of seats being repaired/held together with bright red gaffer tape, strips of tape holding rips in the carpet together so people don't trip and injure themselves. Some seats can't be sat on because they are broken and have been for months if not years. Some of the tables are unstable and wobble when you try and use them. In some places the plastic covers that hold the boards and bonus button is missing or snapped leaving sharp edges. In some areas the carpet is so old it's worn through, and there's only so much you can do with gaffa tape.
How can you expect people to look forward to an evening out in a drab, tired, unloved place. I used to want to go to bingo twice sometime 3 times a week, and was disappointed if I couldn't. Now, I sometimes don't go for weeks. When I went on Sunday just gone, it was the first time since August!!!!! And a lot of people feel the same
And then there's the cost. Can you please try to explain to me why it costs more to play bingo in lincoln, with lower prize money than it it does in Medway, my old club. Also, on reading Medway pricing structure is different to Lincoln. Customers have more choice of which games they want to play. At lincoln there are 2 choices. All in or no extras. Surely the customer should only pay for games they want to play. To opt out of the big money link games, which a lot of customers don't want play because it's such a extremely minute chance of winning, especially when you are including online players. How many hundreds of thousands of people are being forced into playing a game they don't want to participate in. I appreciate some people do enjoy playing the links but we should have the choice
And why are we paying more to play, especially on touchpads, but the prize money is less than loads of other clubs, like Medway. Scunthorpe, to name just 2. My freinds and I looked at various clubs websites and 40% were cheaper than lincoln and of that 40%, 25% paid out more prize money. Lincolns prize money has decreased so much customers are asking themselves is it value for money. 18 months ago Friday evening used to pay £100 full houses for 10 games. Now it £50 for 5 games and £100 for 5, but it costs more to play. Sunday pays £500 for last full house, and 50 and 100 for rest, yet it's expensive to play .
So Buzz, sort it or lose you clients!

Lift at Lincoln broken. Had problems getting out because a member of staff was not happy to stop and start escalator going out. Usually staff here are really great. I worry with a broken lift about even going to bingo which makes me sad. I am unable to walk and climbing many stairs is not an option

Disappointed with basic stuff like No chilled 250ml bottles of white wine because the bar staff said they had just switched the fridge on (18.00hrs !!) Why dont they leave on continuously !!! Like you do at home. Served warm wine, offered Ice !!! Ruined the night on top of No atmosphere and amateurs running the calling, and people talking loudly during game.

The old values seem to be disappearing, for example people can play the machines anytime apart from when the main event. The noise level of people playing or not playing but talking is very high and staff make little or no attempt top stop it, in fact the staff talking at the bar for example is just as bad. There are little or no incentives for daytime players, the best ones are just aimed at evening players. Staff at our Buzz are very friendly, but overall i wouldn’t recommend it to friends now, as it doesn’t give value for money.

Been going to Buzz right from the very start, seeing it go own hill fast.
The last straw for me was when I received my birthday treat. Could only use on specific days. Days I never go.
Why couldn’t it have been left open to use whenever.
