Hiking boots lasted four months

End of May 2020 I bought a pair of new Waterproof Hiking Boots made by Dek off eBay that cost me £40 (inc postage). Four months on they leak badly though they have a waterproof membrane. The sole is coming away from the uppers. I contacted the seller Blue Water Sports at Paignton who claimed it was "wear and tear." On phoning them the owner while admitting they should have lasted more than four months declined to offer any refund or do anything apart from saying I should buy some glue and hope that repaired them. I reminded him that though they are cheap the Sale of Goods Act still applied and four months was no time at all. He terminated the phone conversation.
