I called CAA after getting a flat tire

I called CAA after getting a flat tire. They asked me to pay money before they could assist me without heat in my car at 8 pm at night no problem. What they didn’t specify was this was my last service call and instead of me towing to Canadian tire I towed at home and had to call them the next morning to re tow. They told me I had ample calls waiting for service. The call was recorded and I reached out to CAA around 3 times and nobody got back to me. Nasty and disgusting service, puke inside my mouth.

I am currently waiting in my car…

I am currently waiting in my car waiting for CAA to arrive since my initial call. 3.5 hours ago.

I have been told by three different agents that they are en route - 15 min wait, then 25 mins, and most recently a 10 min radius. When I pushed some more I finally found out they were completing a task. I said so the 10 min radius could take them to a 45-min radius. They confirmed this to be true.

Meanwhile my app said I was supposed to get an agent two hours ago.

Customer experience has gone down the tube with the text messages instead of live agents, and have cut me off their chats each time.

**Updated, I finally made it home - it only took 6.5 hours for someone to come pick me up! I wrote CAA a notice and got an automated "we're sorry message". Also caught a bad cold. Great job, CAA!"

Complete disappointment

After many years being a member of CAA, I had my first service call today. I had driven the car to the airport cellphone waiting area, and after a while when I felt cold, the car failed to restart. I called CAA to ask for a boost, and all I got was an automated system recording my request. A few minutes later I got a text indicating that "Valueway will arrive by a time" I waited 10 minutes after that time, then tried to call CAA to see why they have not shown up. Again the same automated system gave me a stupid answer and hung up. That was it. I was on my own. I begged other people around to give me a boost to restart the car, and finally after half an hour, with a nice guy's help, I started the car. The CAA stupid answering system gave me no chance to talk to someone, and I felt that I have to take care of the situation on my own, and just God knows when or if they will come. After I stated my car, picked up my passenger, went back home and put the car battery under charge, the CAA guy called me that they are 15 minutes away?? I just cancelled my membership. That was the dumbest service ever.

Terrible

Terrible. They make up rules as they go. Pay for Premier service and was told I cannot tow the vehicle away from my house more than 100 km. Told to call another tow company and submit receipt to CAA...ya I wasn't born yesterday!

Absolutely horrific service

Absolutely horrific service. I pay for their premium plan that covers 5 tows per year with US coverage through AAA. I broke down on my motorcycle in the heart of Philadelphia at 5:45 pm on a Wednesday, and it took 3.5 hours to get a 10-minute tow.

The line kept disconnecting while they transferred me between their agents and AAA, and it took six calls and two hours just to finally get a dispatcher for the Philadelphia region. After that, it took another 1.5 hours for the tow truck to arrive—and they sent a driver from a different state.

The whole time, I was standing outside in the cold. My hands went numb and my fingers literally started turning blue while I waited. After the first dropped call, I repeatedly and politely asked each agent to take down my number and call me back if we got disconnected. Not one of them did. Every time the line dropped, I got thrown back into a queue with more than 10 people ahead of me, and they refused or were “unable” to provide any direct number so I wouldn’t have to start over each time.

The experience was Kafkaesque. I barely had 3% battery left on my phone when the driver finally arrived, despite having around half a charge when the breakdown happened. The agents couldn’t be bothered to offer even basic accommodations to someone stranded in the cold for hours—like a simple callback after a dropped connection. They kept transferring me to the wrong regional AAA centers, and I am not exaggerating when I say I had to explain my situation 16 times before a tow was actually dispatched.

At one point, I seriously considered just pushing the bike the few miles I needed to go or calling a third-party tow and paying an exorbitant rate out of pocket. Their service is beyond unreliable and the complete opposite of the “peace of mind” you’d expect from an annual premium subscription. I could not be more dissatisfied with their coverage in the US.

Not great seevice

Title: Very Disappointed with CAA Service – Gold Membership Doesn’t Seem to Mean Much

I called CAA on November 6, 2025 to request a tow for my Range Rover from my mechanic’s shop in Guelph to the Land Rover dealership in Waterloo. Despite being a Gold Member, I was told that I had to be physically present at the pickup location for them to provide the towing service — even though my mechanic was there and could easily hand over the keys.

Unfortunately, I was at work and unable to leave, which means I now have to take time off just to have my car towed. It’s frustrating and inconvenient, especially since the whole point of having roadside assistance (and paying for a premium membership) is to make situations like this easier, not harder.

Very disappointed with how rigid and unhelpful the policy is. I expected much better from CAA, especially for loyal members

NO RESPONSE from CAA insurance. Unacceptable!!

My friend has CAA insurance and was in an accident over a week ago. Although assigned a 'person' she cannot reach them, by phone, text or email. They have not responded and when she calls another office they say they can't help. She is without a car and her husband is in long-term care - she has not seen him in a week - still waiting to find out about her car. This process should be streamlined - CAA should have someone that will tell her the stage of her claim. This is just about getting another car and she cannot get an answer. NO RESPONSE to calls, texts and emails in unacceptable! Good thing she was not severely injured. A huge company like CAA should be letting her know the process and where things are at. I'll continue with updates FYI. Everyone is busy - but no excuse for incompetence!

I put my car in the ditch about an hour…

I put my car in the ditch about an hour and a half away from home. I have been a CAA member for about 20 years. Never had a problem. I called CAA and was told a tow truck would be there in about 38 minutes. It took about an hour and a half. Tow truck driver asked me for my license and insurance - never asked for this before in my 20+ years. I just received my insurance renewal and had not put my insurance in the car - had the expired certificate. Tow truck driver said he would not pull me out. I could call an Uber and go home and get the certificate and come back and call CAA again. OR he would pull me out for $300 CASH. I didn't really have an option. I paid. I called CAA when I got home and they said "those were the rules". I said "if the police had pulled me over and I didn't have my insurance they would give me 24 hours to produce it - if it was good enough for the police, why not CAA". "Tough, those are the rules" was the answer. So my conclusion is, we know the seedy business that tow truckers run and how they are run by the mob, and CAA has gotten into business and allowed them to fleece the members that they promised they would be there for. Forget it, the CAA will put you at the mercy of the mob and the tow truck drivers. Beware!

Unsafe 3hr wait on major highway!

We had an extremely disappointing and unsafe experience with CAA. On the way to Fort Erie for my daughter’s hockey game, we got a flat tire on the QEW. We were told help would arrive in 40 minutes as we were a “priority.” Instead, we sat on the side of the highway for over 3 hours after being repeatedly misinformed.

When the flatbed finally arrived, it could only take 2 of us — even though CAA had said they’d send a truck for 3. The driver and his supervisor both agreed this was completely unacceptable and said they’d be escalating it.

CAA then told us to call an Uber to get off the highway.
