3+ Months, Zero Access, One Mass Email
I purchased a Calm subscription starting January 1, 2025. It is now March 2026 and I have never been able to access the service I paid for.
Here is the complete history of Calm’s customer service response to my issue:
∙ One mass email offering a refund
That’s it. No personal outreach. No follow-up. No fix. Just a copy-paste email sent to what I can only assume is a long list of other customers they’ve also failed — suggesting this isn’t even an isolated problem, it’s a systemic one.
I don’t want a refund. I want the service I purchased. That should not be a controversial ask.
Calm markets itself as a tool for reducing anxiety and improving mental wellbeing. After three-plus months of being ignored by their support team, I can confidently say this company has caused me more frustration than any app I have ever used. The brand positioning is almost insulting at this point.
If you are considering a subscription: know that if anything goes wrong with your account, you may be on your own. Based on my experience, customer service is non-existent beyond automated responses.
I did not get what I paid for. I was not helped. I was not communicated with. Calm needs to be held accountable for this.
Paid for annual subscription- have still not been able to access it!
I paid for the annual subscription £50. Unfortunately it didn’t send me a link or allow me to log in to the subscription. I’ve contacted them 3 times to ask what happened and to resolve it - finally asking for a refund. I’ve not had a single response. For an app supposed to be supporting people manage their peace, this is so far beyond their mission. £50 isn’t a little sum of money and I’m really annoyed

Signed up for premium via Instagram on the 9th February, but cannot access premium features in the app. It is now March 5th and still no reply, just an automated message stating they are busy and will respond. Please stay away from this company.
I signed up for a free trial
I signed up for a free trial and cancelled with 24 hours. Calm took €14.99 out of my account. I have requested a refund but they Responded with a generic email, saying they would look into my request. I have heard not a word since, despite requesting a refund daily. SCAM!!
I recently filled out a questionnaire…
I recently filled out a questionnaire about my need for EMDR. This questionnaire was provided by Calm they were offering services for anxiety through what they claimed was EMDR. When I paid for the subscription, I realize they don't have a specific EMDR plan. There was no tailor made program as indicated. This is quite misleading and damaging for someone that's suffering from anxiety or any other mental health issue.
Would give zero stars if I could.
Would give zero stars if I could.
Paid a yearly subscription through FB 8th Feb and still cannot access the premium features of the app - sent emails and chat on the 9th Feb, received a generic response and have been ignored since! Don't part with your money!
Doesn’t work after paying
I paid for this last week, it shows on my bank statement, however I’ve struggled to get the app to recognise I’ve paid.
Now another £39.99 to calm.com, inc has come out today - less than a week later!
Not happy at all and causing more stress and anxiety than the “calm” I should be getting!
Fraudulent practices
Says I have a free version but is charging me $13.49 per month. No help, just AI. Complete fraud. Stay far away. Believe me I’m anything but “calm” I’m furious.
Good meditations + sleep stories, but site is user-unfriendly and customer service for billing issues/content questions almost non-existent.
High marks for the meditation sessions with Tamara Levitt and the Sleep Stories. Low marks for the lack of any information or explanation regarding the EMDR/binaural beats audio—how it works, how to use it.
Very low marks for ease of navigating the app/site—and I can’t find ANY instructions for app/site navigation/use!
Very low marks for the almost non-existent customer service for addressing billing issues/questions and content questions.
Would give it zero if I could
Would give it zero if I could. I only wish I had read the reviews before hitting the button to sign up for the yearly tariff. I have tried to get since the 4th of February now with no response.

I used calm app years ago and I had a good experience.
I paid a montly suscription again with a different email address and different kind of payment method and I have no access to my acccount; I experience the same issues others describe below. I received the same email again and again saying that they are working on it but nothing changed.
Avoid it. It is nothing but an Scam
Avoid! Scam
I joined calm, many years ago, found it to be really good for relaxing and creating calm. I stopped the subscription and, a few weeks ago, saw an ad on Facebook. Did the questionnaire and rejoined. I couldn’t gain access to the app and tried all sorts to get into it. I then contacted them. It is via email. I have had an email back saying they are looking into it but no further help. I’ve contacted the bank to ask for my £40 back paid to calm as o never received the product. Weeks later, after contacting calm again I still have received no word and no refund. Should have joined headspace.
I hate the app
I hate the app. I signed on for a 1 month plan and it was never linked to my free plan. Calm proceeded to bill me without helping me connecting to the paid plan. I can't even find out where my paid subcription is so I can cancel. The worst ever customer service.
AVOID AVOID AVOID HOPELESS OR A SCAM??
Signed up. Calm took my money. Tried to login. Receive messages saying I don’t have a subscription. Contacted Calm. Received an email in response saying they were very busy dealing with issues (not suprised). No action. Will report to my credit card company as a SCAM - which is what it is.
Verging on a scam with auto renewal
Although I did use the app and found it helpful i did not agree or sign up to autorenewal. £39.99 came out of my account without them contacting me in any way. They did not respond to 6 different emails and trying to contact them on the telephone is impossible. I had no other option but to open a case with PayPal, they sided with calm until I appealed the case and give evidence that I did not and would not have set up an auto subscribe. I dont trust them and think it was a disgrace they can do this. Go on Spotify and listen to drift off for adults - set a timer on the app and its great.
Avoid unless you want them to steal your money!
I took out a yearly subscription during a 50% offer, which I cancelled last year. Despite this, I’ve been charged again even though I don’t have an active subscription. I’ve tried contacting them but haven’t received a reply for over two weeks. I’ve now had to open a case through PayPal. It appears this charge may recur yearly, so I’d advise others to be cautious.
Would give them a zero if could
Would give them a zero if could
Signed up via Instagram and received a link for the subscription that doesn’t work. Account created and no subscription. Taken £17 out via Apple Pay.
Emailed and standard crap email form someone called Thales Bellisia.
Think this is going to be long and drawn out. Has anyone had any luck in cancelling subscription as don’t want anything to do with them based on these reviews? In effect they’re scammers and need reporting. Calm?? The irony!
Terrible customer service and hard to cancel
Purchased late at night through Instagram. I was charged but never provided the services. I've sent four requests to cancel and get an email saying my concerns will be addressed, but they never are. I can't find a way to cancel, so am being charged. I do not recommend.
I purchased a subscription for £39.99
I purchased a subscription for £39.99 on 6 Feb online for Calm app and it does not work on the app , I have emailed Calm who have given me a reference number and said they are investigating, the problem is you can’t speak to anyone and they don’t care , do not waste your money on this app as it’s not fit for purpose, and they are getting rich on people like me , don’t subscribe to them.
I paid for premium and received an…
I paid for premium and received an email with a link I clicked the link and I got an error page. It never showed on my account that I paid but my credit was charged and I didn't get premium I paid for. I contacted through their submit request and never received a response. They took my money and will not communicate at all. Totally scammed me. Don't give them your money. Wish I had researched first. Their BBB shows them ripping off hundreds of people.
