I attended Camp for two summers in 2018&2019 and it was the experience of a lifetime! I made lifelong friends and bonds, while also learning things about myself and growing my confidence! The camp America staff were extremely helpful every step of the way and the process from applying to getting to camp was seamless! I would have gone back every summer for the rest of my life if I could!

Really easy process, camp was definitely an experience like no other

Camp America was far from the experience I had hoped for, and I feel it's important to share the hidden costs and lack of support. I had to pay over £1200 before even going to America, covering sign-up, travel to the London embassy, a doctor's note, and towards flights and insurance. And, the expenses kept piling up, with a £50 interview fee and numerous other unexpected costs.
I thought the financial investment would be justified by the experience and the earnings at camp. However, I discovered shortly before leaving that my earnings would barely cover the initial costs. Despite this, I tried to be optimistic, hoping the experience would make it worthwhile. While I enjoyed my time traveling after camp, a real shock came when I was hit with a tax bill of nearly $200 the following April. This process was daunting, and the platform Camp America recommended charged fees just to provide the necessary forms.
Now, a year after returning, I've received another tax letter, which Camp America failed to adequately warn me about and provided no support in navigating the complex and stressful process. When I reached out for help, I was simply told they couldn't assist me. In my opinion, Camp America is not all it’s cracked up to be. If possible, I strongly recommend going directly through a camp to avoid these hidden fees and lack of support.

Don’t include flights on the way back just from New York City. Had to pay extra

They say they cover flights, but mine “cost” £800 according to them, when I found much cheaper fares myself. The reality is they take a huge cut of your pay for minimal extra value.
If you want the same job and experience without being underpaid, skip Camp America and contact camps directly. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

My son has just been fired from a camp.
You see the info about being fired and think- that will never happen.
But beware- it does- and all he did was shout at a colleague as a child had been in danger due to her.
What happens? Within hours you are removed from the camp without even a chance to say goodbye.
You do not receive any written evidence of why you have been fired.
Then you are dropped at a hotel with your bags and that’s it. The camp has nothing more to do with you.
Now the reason I have given three stars is that is when camp America step in to help and I have to say they have been wonderful so far.
They have been in touch with my son, helped him to travel to another state and are trying to get him into another camp.
That’s the story so far!
But believe me- you can literally be fired for anything and the camp totally washes their hands of you immediately.
The camp my son said is in such a mess with very poor management; staff being fired; staff leaving or threatening to leave; lots of staff not paid yet; terrible food….but despite all that he said that he did enjoy himself!

I’ve been with camp America since 2019! Always been my agency of choice as I go back for my 5th summer in the states. Emails are replied to almost instantly and the staff seem to genuinely care about the program experience. I got hired at a recruitment fair and what a fantastic opportunity to meet loads of camps and get hired on the spot.
I worked at a Girl Scouts summer camp called Camp Favorite on Cape Cod in Massachusetts during the summer of 2024 and had the best time! I have always wanted to have the experience of working at a camp in the States as I’d heard such positive stories from older family members and friends who had done it themselves.
Camp America made it so easy. The online portal is so helpful as you know what stages come next after applying. It also stores your flight information, embassy appointment and placement details all in one place which helps with the process.
The sense of community, bonds and memories made make the experience invaluable. From the moment you step off the bus till the minute you fly home you’re surrounded by people who you will come to call family. As well as getting the chance to instil your own values in your campers, in turn you will learn things about yourself. My favourite moment is when the campers arrive back at their summer home and you get to reconnect with them after 10 months; very special feeling. After this will follow 2 months of activities, experiences and new things. I have been going for 3 years plus for a reason….
I’ve been to camp for 2 summers now and returning for a third this year with Camp America. They are the best agency and so helpful before, during and after summer. They are so supportive throughout your whole time with them and are always willing to go above and beyond to make your summer the best possible.
The team at Camp America were so supportive throughout my whole journey, they answered all my questions and were available both before and during camp. After spending two summers at camp I truely grew as a person and made amazing memories and the best friends for life 🫶
I couldn’t imagine signing up for camp with any other agency than Camp America. They’ve been great for my two summers at camp especially when I got poorly in the month travelling after camp and they did everything they could to help and advise me and stayed on the phone / in touch until I got the medical help I needed! Both summers I found the process of getting my visa really easy with Camp Americas clear instructions :)
Hi, i’m off to Camp Laurelwood this year courtesy of Camp America ! I am beyond excited everything I’ve heard is absolutely incredible. I’m working for the social media team at the moment on TikTok and it’s been so fun! The whole application process was so easy. I 100% recommend to anybody considering applying.
Camp America gave me an unforgettable summer, allowing me to meet people from all over the world and it allowed me to do something I had always wanted to do for years. It was definitely the most challenging thing I’ve done, but also the most rewarding. My camp became a home away from home, filled with lifelong friendships and incredible memories. I wouldn’t be returning for a second year if it wasn’t for how much I loved it. If you’re considering spending a summer at camp, I highly recommend using Camp America to make it happen!
Camp America has been a great agency throughout the past three summers! They’re always on hand to help with enquiries and have made the application and visa process almost seamless! I would highly recommend using them as your agency to kickstart your summer camp experience!
Camp America gave me the experience of a lifetime. I met people I never would have without it and did something I had wanted to do for years. Yes fees are high and hours are long but nothing is hidden. The experience I had was the hardest thing I have ever done but the most rewarding. I wouldn’t be returning for a second year if it wasn’t for the amazing time that I had. CA managed to find me a summer home and I am very grateful
I’ve been with Camp America for 3 summers now and it’s honestly been the best experience of my life. The agency were so helpful and came to the aid if there was an issue with anything. I 100% recommend trying this program out!
