Took Tesla Model Y for 2 weeks - such a fantastic car for Iceland! It’s fun to drive, lots of charging everywhere for prices better than petrol, plenty of space for me 180cm guy to sleep, camp mode... See more

We had a great experience with CampEasy in Iceland. We picked up the camper after opening hours and everything was arranged so it went smooth and quick. The communication via the provided tablet is quick and easy and they're always there to help or answer questions. The battery and heating system in the van works perfect too.

The Tesla Y with all-wheel drive was an excellent choice for my individual trip through Iceland. CampEasy has consistently proven itself to be a reliable and service-oriented partner, especially thanks to the personal commitment of the two service agents Nicole Wilder and Razvan Florin Bratu - thank you both :)
The key details of the trip:
Travel period = September 8th - October 3rd, 2023 (26 days in total, of which 24 days with the Tesla Y)
Mileage = 5,000 km around the island including driving through the highlands on the F-35
Rental price including premium insurance = 340,745 ISK (2,305 EUR), discount through early bird discount, long-term rental and waiver of reimbursement of the total price in the event of cancellation
Electricity costs = 75,475 ISK (522 EUR for around 1,400 kWh). Hypothetical cost comparison with a petrol engine at 8l/100Km and 2.1 EUR/l = 840 EUR petrol costs.
My first trip with an electric car, so I was eagerly awaiting the experience of the Icelandic charging network. In short: the power supply was always unproblematic if you drove with foresight, and there were always enough charging stations even in the highlands and in the sparsely populated areas. There are different charging network operators, so the apps from Tesla, eONE, Isorka, ON-Orka and PlugShare were helpful at the charging stations. Two included charging cables enabled connection using a CEE adapter (e.g. campsite socket) and IEC 62196 Type 2. Since the charging stations mostly have permanently installed charging cables, I rarely needed the extra cables.
The Tesla Y offered me a sleeping space of approx. 210 x 115 cm, padded by an approx. 10 cm thick mattress, as well as bedding and privacy screens for the windows. Thanks to camp mode, the interior could be heated and ventilated. Cold temperatures and fogged up windows weren't an issue for me. The power consumption per night was between 10 and 15% of the battery capacity.
The equipment included a built-in cool box in the side compartment of the trunk and a box with cooking/eating utensils including a camping gas stove. I was traveling without a roof or rear box, although the Tesla easily accommodated my luggage (clothes, utensils and extensive photography equipment) in the interior. I deposited my two hard-shell suitcases at CampEasy for free.
My arrival at CampEasy was outside of office hours, so I checked myself in using previously submitted login details. I was allowed to spend the first night with the Tesla Y on site. Toilet, sink, lounge and coffee machine were available there.
The equipment also included a tablet PC with internet access, which provided a lot of useful information and established constant contact with CampEasy via online chat. This meant that questions could be clarified easily at any time.
The campsites were clean and mostly well equipped. After arriving in Iceland, I quickly realized that it was best to plan my tour based on the weather, so sometimes I simply drove away from "bad" weather. I planned my tour day by day and was able to decide spontaneously about my plans. I consider this extremely flexible way of traveling to be a special luxury that I have enjoyed to the fullest.
Conclusion:
Unreserved recommendation for CampEasy as a rental car rental company and service partner as well as the Tesla Y as a camping vehicle for nationwide excursions. Basically Iceland as a travel destination - the landscapes, their vastness and my experiences and encounters have regularly taken my breath away and delighted me again and again!

Picked up our camper (Tesla model Y sleeper) last week and can honestly say that from when we called Camp Easy from the airport we were picked up within a few minutes. Razvan picked us up and took us to the office which was a short drive. We were offered hot drinks which was a nice touch.
He went through the vehicle spec which was super helpful as we had never driven a Tesla before.
He gave us good advice of where to go and where not to. Helpful little things to save money.
We had asked for extra bedding, however we later found out that we really didn't need.
The car had a range of 330 miles but we were getting more.
My son did most of the driving in auto pilot.
First night we stopped in Vik, taking in the Black sand beach and countless waterfalls. Then stopping at a small campsite in Djupivogur operated by Hotel Framtid which was so pretty. Then travelling through Seydisfjordur which is stunning and stopping at a campsite by Lake Mývatn. Very nice.
Husavik (a must) for whale watching which was incredible.
About the vehicle - super cozy. Loads of storage room. Used the front boot as a fridge. We would set camp mode and watch Netflix on the centre console (don't worry about having it too loud as the car is super insulated for sound). Built in wifi which never let us down. We left the bed set up all week and used the front as our lounge. It works.
Car is super to drive on auto pilot and has all mod cons (heated seats etc). We would warm the car up to 28 degrees when coming in then reduce it to 22 degress. Camp mode is amazing.
There are covers for windows which were easy to put up.
On the last day in the North my son drove from Akureyri to Reykjavik on auto pilot 95% of the way (387 km). He said it was easy.
About Camp Easy - we had visited Iceland before and used a company based at the airport who were ok, but Camp Easy went above and beyond. They even emailed us with weather warnings and travel advice during our trip.
When we returned the Tesla Karolina offered us a warm drink. They took it away for cleaning and offered us a ride to our hotel (standard procedure).
I think this company goes that extra mile. Speaking to other people on the road who were using Camp Easy vehicles said they had the same experience.
Also if you get the choice between a camper van or a Tesla camper choose the Tesla every time.

We decided to go with the camper van route for our trip to Iceland mainly for the flexibility it gave us. We picked CampEasy because they offered a small camper that allowed us to convert the bed into a couch so we could cook inside which was a great option. They have experienced (older models) for those on a budget and they were very well maintained and saved us money. CampEasy could not have been more helpful , they picked us up at KEF and had the camper ready for us. The bedding provided was very warm, and the heater kept us toasty. The camper was very clean and we had no issues. CampEasy also offered great support while we were on the road and would warn us of weather and road issues. We could pre plan our trip ahead using the trip planner on their website and download to the free tablet provided by them when we arrived, it was great to have this for navigation. The staff were very helpful and upbeat, a special thanks to both Karolina and Iris who were amazing to work with. We had an absolutely incredible visit to Iceland , many thanks to CampEasy for helping to make it so successful.

We absolutely loved our experience with CampEasy, specially thanks to our agent Karolina who explained every detail we needed to know so were fully prepared for the trip, and our cool campervan - Easy Big X! The only downside? We should have booked more than a week :)! It was our first time in Iceland (coming from sunny, not very windy Portugal) and driving a campervan. As rookies we were a bit afraid of being too uncomfortable to sleep, or too cold, difficult to drive, but we couldn't be more wrong...bed was comfy (I would say ,too comfy cause we even overslept some mornings) , van its well isolated, the heating works perfectly, as well as the fridge and skin. Van comes will all the amenities you need to cook (like really, CampEasy thought about every single detail, so you can feel like at home). Easy Big X is one of the "older" vans but it is in really good conditions, we only knew it was an older model because the team told us, otherwise you can't notice because everything is really well maintained, super clean, easy to drive and with lower fuel consumption. The pick up and drop off is super easy, the Van as a tablet always connected to internet, with GPS, two channels to contact directly CampEasy (one for emergencies and the other one if you have any question during the trip, we used the last one to ask about parking payments and the agent replied quickly). Tablet also has direct access to national road and weather websites, always updated. Also when you book, you have access to suggested trips itinerary’s, depending on how many days you have and which parts of the island you want to see, also winter and summer campsites, hot springs, and you can create your own itinerary with a plan per each trip day, and it would be available on your tablet. This tablet made our planning way easier and it is a big differentiator compared to other campervan renting companies. We had an amazing time in Iceland thanks to CampEasy, the best way to know the country it’s with a Campervan and we definitely recommend CampEasy. We loved Iceland and we will come back and book again with CampEasy : )! A warm thank you to all the team.

We rented campervan for the first time ever from CampEasy. We took a Easy Clever 4x4 X. The camper itself was amazing and had everything we needed. There is enough space for two people comfortably. The only downside we see is the fact that you can’t stand up straight but we knew that from the beginning. We went on lots of gravel roads and camper had no problems at all.
We had a broken key issue that was quickly solved by CampEasy agents. Thank you Razvan, Dominik, Nicole and Iris for all your help and good will. When we come back to Iceland CampEasy is our first choice!
Greetings from Croatia,
Lea and Vedran

I booked a tesla with them for three days. The price was very reasonable, especially compared to what you would get for the price at other companies, and the actual car/trip had no major problems, but:
1) The self-serve key box broke, so we had to wait for someone to unlock it remotely. This didn't work either, so they gave me a different (but identical) car.
2) They forgot to ask me to sign the contract on site, and I had to locate a pen and send them a picture of the signed contract mid-camping.
3) The airport shuttle is not available if you return the car at the last available time slot, despite the reservation stating there will be. There was a very nice guy at the office who ended up dropping us off on his own time however, saving us a $30 taxi fare.
4) A few weeks after the trip, I get a bill for the supercharging I did, but it included the previous renter's bill totaling almost $200.
So in summary, wonderful and kind employees who do not hassle you, but their processes need improvement.
Great service, great cars, everything easy !

We rented the Easy Ranger 4X4 Aug 8-13. Check in/out is a smooth process and the airport transfers are as well! They think of everything you may need. We had a minor issue with the charging port for the tablet and they had it fixed in less than 20 minutes! The campers are clean and comfortable! Íris was beyond helpful when making sure we had a wonderful experience! Highly recommend!!!

Very easy to take the vehicle and also easy to return it, which is very appreciable.
Super comfortable and functional vehicle. Small flat because the fridge did not work and remained blocked at 28°c.
Efficient, pleasant, fast rental agency, I recommend!

WOW, WHAT AN AMAZING ADVENTURE!!! My husband and I rented the Easy Clever from camp easy and drove 3500km around Iceland on their 13 day tour. The trip was beyond expectation and the direction given from our tablet was so easy to follow!! The trip was planned perfectly with 72 stops along the way. Campeasy booked some excursions and had the trip all mapped out for us. We were supposed to leave June 1st but our flight was cancelled LITERALLY as we were boarding. It was devastating a years worth of planning down the drain!! We were in a panic when air Canada rebooked our flight for 48HOURS later!!! This means the van also had to be pushed back and all the excursions had to be rebooked.
We called Campeasy and they were AMAZING (THANK YOU Camilla!!!) they rebooked our excursions pushed our van rental back two days and SAVED OUR TRIP
The Van was so fun my husband and I enjoyed everything and really couldn’t say anything negative. EVEN THE BED WAS COMFORTABLE considering it was a van bed we slept very well. The extras we added to the rental (BBQ, towel rack, bunson burner, towels, extra pillows and blankets) were all in a basket which we scooped up when we got there is was seamless.
I would definitely recommend traveling Iceland in a Van!! I would 100% refer Campeasy and their services.
We will definitely be back and we will rent another van from Campeasy.
Thank you for going above and beyond, we honestly didn’t expect it and were so happy. You saved the trip.
