Canadian Tire Garage Negligence

Canadian Tire Garage operates in a negligent manner. Transport Canada has found they likely caused at least 1 accident due to their automotive garage service negligence. AVOID ENTIRELY!

Another dissatisfied long time…

Another dissatisfied long time customer.
I always promoted and subscribed to Canadian companies. I supported Canadian Tire upto now. The company although Canadian owned has private owned stores meaning private owners operating under the Canadian Tire banner mark. Before you buy any product carefully read the "Return Policy " No Refunds. Only Store Credits. This is no good. The staff at the Returns Desk are stone cold and take it personally when a product needs to be returned. Try Home Depot they have very liberal Returns Policy and the staff are too ready to help. Wake up Canadian Tire!!!

I bought 4 Canna lilly planters a few weeks ago and loved them and they were fairly priced at 29$. When I went back the price was 39$. I spoke with Darryl the gardener and customer service and he quickly took me to the front desk and helped me out and honored the 29$ price tag. I ended up buying 4 more! crazy gardener! Thanks for your customer service Darryl and staff and helping me load the car. This kind of service is far gone anywhere else and I stopped going to big garden stores.

Price advertised is not honoured.

The below issue has now been successfully resolved by the head office customer concern team. It was complex as it involves both the franchised retail store and the HQ online sales site:

Absolutely terrible. I purchased tires advertised on their website with a one week delivery date. They billed my credit card. The tires were the wrong size and they refused to honour their pricing and claimed the tires were not available although all other tire retailers stocked them. I asked them to honour the contract and either source these tires for me or pay for the additional price to buy them at another retailer as they mispriced these tires. They have now refunded my credit card and I am awaiting to see if they honour a verbal agreement to credit me the difference between my purchase price and another company and their advertised price. Unfortunately the communication has been slow

I tried to return a toaster oven

I tried to return a toaster oven. I opened it and it would not main the dial heat, I tried to return it within a week and was told I could trade for another of the same of value upgrade but would not return my money, as why would I want to take another of the same product that didn’t work the first time and wanted to rethink my purchase. Their return policy is terrible. I will not give them my business again. Many other companies will honour this simple request. I'm done with CRAPPY TIRE!!

Zero Rating for Canadian Tire Mechanics

If I could leave a zero star I would. The automotive section and mechanics are a complete joke. I went in for a warranty tire issue that was leaking and sure enough it was a faulty valve stem that they had replaced. They had no problem getting my tire off but guess what, due to the free of charge appointment, they we're able to get my tire on with the lugs nuts. I now have to wait 6 hours for new nuts to arrive and pay for them. I would never recommend the automotive section to anyone. They are completely useless.

I've been a longtime customer of…

I've been a longtime customer of Canadian Tire, but that has now come to an end. Why? Because I'm tired of CanTire operating like they are the only store in the world - they refuse to price match. They also won't let you post any review of any of their products which references PRICE or a COMPETITOR. Case in point - I wasn't going to buy a lawn dethatcher from them for $53, when I could get the SAME thing from Home Depot for less than 20% of the price!! - Goodbye Canadian Tire. It's time to realize that smart customers actually DO shop around, and if you won't allow for free speech in your review comments, then customers will move onto other platforms.

Used To Have The Best Return Policy

For years, Canadian Tire had the best return policy of any other stores except Walmart. We used to shop at Canadian Tire a lot. In the past number of years they have changed their return policy to (and this is in their own words): "unopened" items with a receipt, in original packaging and returned within 90 days will recieve a refund to the original method of payment or will recieve an exchange.
Items that are opened, damaged and/or not in resaleable condition may not be eligble for a refund or exchange. Items with a modified return policy will be noted on the receipt."
So....what happens if I just don't like how it works, how do I know if I like how it works if I don't try it first? I understand why their policy but it's ludicrous. Amazon takes pretty much everything back. I recently purchased a garment steamer and if it's damaged or doesn't work properly or just doesn't meet the expectation of what the manufacturer said it could do (because I have to try it first), I'm stuck with the product. I can only get in touch with the company to have any issues resolved.
Sorry Canadian Tire you lost the sale and a customer anyway cause I'm returning it unopened and not used, epic fail.

As a *Canadian * company-pathetic behavior

As a *Canadian * company. I think now more than ever you need to put your big person pants on, and quit with Corporate greed. Considering your reviews I am not in left field here. I took the time to drive to your store, and bought a hoover vacuum. When I opened the box it was broken, clearly used, and had disgusting..I don't know what.... In the filter chamber. So then I get to waste my time to bring it back . You wasted a Sunday morning, because someone in their ultimate brilliance thought putting a defective used item back on the shelf was a great idea.

Their inventory control system suck

Their inventory control system suck. It always says they’re stock and you get there and you’ve got five people that chopper probably shouldn’t be working anymore looking for something they don’t understand only to discover that. Oh yeah, we don’t have it.
Furthermore, the return policy is absolute shit.
Add to the fact that now they’re in-house brands that have to be the absolute worst in-house brand ever made combined with a terrible return policy makes the experience of one and done event. I don’t care what kind of point system Canadian tire offers. They can no longer get my money.

Canadian Tire (CT) Strathroy Ontario

Canadian Tire (CT) Strathroy Ontario

I tried to return a bottleneck jack, as it would not fit the boat (in case of a flat on route to cottage). I was told their store policy would not allow such as it was one year ago. I only move the boat twice a year. the jack was never used and it was in the origin packaging. I was going to buy a larger jack in lieu of this one. But, not after all this.
The same thing happened when I tried to return a christmas light tester. I was told they do not take back such things after christmas. It was not my fault that the CT staff gave me an incandescent tester instead of an LED, which I had asked for. I took it to another CT store in Hyde Park, London. They took it back without any problems.
I will not shop at CT in Strathroy again.

Canadian Tire - No More

Canadian Tire sells goods, I buy goods. Goods are faulty, poorly made, poorly designed (first screw went through side of shelf, didn't try another). I return goods, but not eligible for refund because box opened? Only allow for in-store credit? Where's Canadian Tire's accountability to sell reliable, quality goods? How can I know a product is bad without opening it? Canadian Tire gets my money whether their product is good or not. Sounds like Canadian Tire is making customers pay for poorly made / poorly designed products they sell with zero accountability (truly buyer beware). Sounds like Canadian Tire doesn't care about quality. Sounds like Canadian Tire doesn't care about customers. No more Canadian Tire for me!

Super well stocked and a very clean…

Super well stocked and a very clean store, at least in the Welland Ontario location.
When I buy items that I have bought there in the past, I make my purchases online and then get an email as to when my products are ready for pick up.
Without entering the store at all, you go to the pick up area and if you scan your item onto the machine while still in your car, it tells you what bay and the proper door opens to let you drive inside. They bring your items without having to check any ID because you entered the QR code, from the email they sent you.
Unbelievably quick and efficient and for us, a great experience shopping like this.
Thank you Canadian tire for giving us options on how to shop at your beautiful store.

NEVER BUYING AGAIN! Rude Ignorant lying CS staff refuses to answer questions & hangs up on you!!!

On May 29th I placed an on line order for pick-up at the Kapuskasing store, a glitch in the CTC software changed the pick-up location to Cochran over an hour away, then without authorization they canceled my order! After CTC "processing" my cancelation for about a week, I called CTC CS on June 6th, I was told by the Cochran store my order was canceled & a refund had been issued, that was a LIE! I received an e-mail "claiming" I picked up the order, even thought I had not, as it was supposed to be canceled & then discovered they "charged" my card a second time! Today June 7th @ or about 3:09 PM I spoke with a very rude ignorant CTC CS employee that talked over me, ignored me & refused to answer a question, instead she hung up on me!!! CTC "USED TO BE" a good store with good customer service, now, I have never been treated so bad by any CS rep anywhere! Due to the lie's aggravation & abuse by their CS staff, after being a customer for over 50 years, spending about $5k a yr, I WILL NEVER BUY FROM CTC AGAIN, AND I'LL WARN EVERYONE ON SCOCIAL MEDEA HOW SLEAZY & UNETHICAL CTC HAS BECOME!!!
UPDATE: Re: 3:09 pm call to CTC CS today. Even though I have a reference # showing I was to receive a refund yesterday, now, instead of a refund, I have to "WAIT" again, this time for CTC to do an "Investigation"! CTC has really changed and now has among the WORST customer service of any retailer! The only thing they are good at is; getting rid of customers!

Wisdom is the best Customer Service Rep I have had the pleasure of dealing with

I went to Canadian tire to shop Canadian. No garbage cans outside and I was picking up mulch so I had a box to discard. Desk wasn't helpful. Walked through the store to be told I would have to pay and go outside to get the mulch. They had me running around and I was about to go to Home Depot so my experience would be hassle free. I went back out frustrated and Wisdom came right over to offer assistance. So kind and reassuring he was. It was because of his kindness that I didn't blow off Canadian Tire and go elsewhere. He is a calming presence and made me feel valued in what was a stressful day. This gentleman deserves a raise or promotion. As a Government Employee, I have witnessed all types of people and Wisdom is truly a bright ray of sunshine. Thank you for my mulch and brightening my day.

Felt scammed by Canadian Tire Yorkton…

Felt scammed by Canadian Tire Yorkton despite proof of recent repairs

I brought my vehicle to Canadian Tire Yorkton (Store #482) for a safety inspection. I had all the receipts and proof from a previous Canadian Tire location in Ontario showing recent repairs — including brand-new windshield wipers installed just over a month ago.

Despite this, the inspector failed the vehicle, including those new wipers. I even had photos and receipts to show they were recently replaced. On top of that, two front desk staff told me I should just scrap the vehicle — which felt incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional.

I paid around $250 for this inspection, and now it feels like they’re pushing unnecessary repairs just to get more money out of me. I contacted the Mechanic Council of Alberta and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I’ve also reviewed this on Google, Facebook, and Twitter/X.

This experience has been extremely stressful. I’ll be going back next week to try to finish the process, but if this continues, I’ll be escalating further with corporate and consumer protection.
