Evaluating 31 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful, with agents who lack knowledge and sometimes speak poor English. Customers also frequently report issues with payments, including unexpected interest charges, delayed application of payments, and difficulties with transfers. The pricing structure, including annual fees and high interest rates without rewards, was a major point of contention. Some people also felt that the company's service was outdated, particularly regarding the lack of mobile payment options. Technically I give them a -10000 I…

Technically I rather them a -10000 I was approved by capital one July 2020 sent in the $300 like they asked before I got the card. To this day I have never received my card or my $300 back. I've tried to call their numbers to contact them and so has my bank, multiple times. The automation just say connecting you to a rep and then hangs up. It's frustrating and I'm out $300

Don't waste your time with these liars…

Capital One was quick to approve my application and take my money but I had to go to the post office to verify my ID twice. The first time I didn't save the tracking slip and lost track of time. A month later I remembered I never received the card and called them to ask what was up. They blamed Canada Post.
I waited another month for them to send me another verification form to take to the post office again and had to call them to remind them that they forgot to send me the paperwork.
I went back to the post office to have my ID verified AGAIN and waited for my card AGAIN.
It's now a month and a bit later- no card- no call from them. I called them AGAIN to be told they never received the verification from Canada Post, but wait:
I tracked it and vould see it reached Capital One AND was signed for!!! Still, I got the run around.
Finally got tired of hearing their BS excuses, while I was on the phone with them I applied online for a Canadian Tire credit card and was approved instantly.
I told them to send me back my money, I don't need their excuses and dishonesty.

Do yourself a favor, don't deal with Capital One. It really isn't worth the crap.

TERRIBLE customer service

TERRIBLE customer service

Of course all they do is put you on mute and waste your time- I wonder if they even have some sort of a quality assurance manager that audits phone recordings because all they like to do is ask one question at a time and put you on mute while “they check your file.”
I barely use this card unless I go to my Costco runs but they restrict me from accessing it on the App, this guy named Carlos at Fraud department is an uneducated guy who keeps asking you to identify yourself and putting you on hold after every question.

Hope they use their income to go to school. Ridiculous interactions with their agents

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service. Are not truthful. They mislead you. I applied for a secure card. Sent a deposit. After 4 months cancelled the request. Waiting 8 months and counting for the return of my deposit.
Keep getting apologies and excuses.

Customer Service is absolute trash.

Customer Service is absolute trash. I received a letter in the mail stating that my account as restricted and I would have to contact them to provide a piece of photo ID in order to resolve the situation. I did as such. Thought everything was fine. Did t hear anything back. Called AGAIN. Was told the photo taken of the ID wasn't good enough so I'd have to retake the picture (which is absolute billshit they didn't give a fax or email option.)

Waited ANOTHER 3 weeks. Didn't hear anything, called back. Was told that ID wasn't good enough and I need something else. This has been going on since the beginning of AUGUST.

Everytime I call I'm passed around from agent to agent just to be told it's "the back office" that's requesting and they can't do anything about it. I'm at the point where I'm ready to tell them to take the cars and shove it. I have yet to talk to someone who can ACTUALLY help me. They just pass the buck and hope you hang up.

Capital One, Great Products, Great for Credit Rebuilding!

I’m really not sure about the negative reviews I’m reading here but I would take them with a grain of salt if I were you.

My experience with Capital One has been phenomenal! They offer the best credit cards for credit rebuilding hands down; I don’t know much about their other cards but the Guaranteed Secured and Secured cards are awesome.

In less than a year and a half they upgraded me from a Guaranteed Secured card to a Gold card, refunded my security deposit and increased my credit limit, the entire process was seamless. My credit score has improved significantly thanks to Capital One, finally, a company that helps people with credit challenges is stead of taking advantage of them. If you’re considering a Capital One product go for it, you won’t be sorry.

I absolutely 100% recommend Capital One!!

Bad customer service, dont expect their help

I had an issue with unauthorized charges on my card about 2 years ago, very unprofesionnal service. NO help was provided although I called many times and requested a stop of payment, was not done by the agent which resulted to more charges to my card that I had to pay. I asked to cancel the card and was told by agent that since I opened a dispute resolution they cannot cancel my card...and Capital one was suppose to contact me by when resolved ... they never did. Then they sent me a new card that I never activated and had paid the balance of the old card a while ago.
I happended to check my credit score with transunion the other day..... they charged me $60 somewhat dollars for annual fee which means they did not cancel my card, which went to collection and scrapped my credit since went well over 3 months, I have never recieved a bill for and been trying to close that account. I been living at the same address for years...
I called AGAIN and was told it will take 3months to resolve... if it get resolve. Very poor customer service and ZERO communications or accountability for their questionnable business practice.
I have other cards and never had problems like this.
If i could give a ZERO review I would.
Scrapped credit over nothing ...

0 if I could

0 if I could. I have been trying to link my account to my credit card for over a month. It work for a few hours then dropped again. The response I get on the phone is like the heavily accented person is reading from a book. Same problem and will be fixed in a few days. Lie. It’s been almost a month. If my account is not linked, why did I just get a pop up on my phone from the app saying my payment was received. They lie to you. Now I’m trying to call about this problem for the 8th time and there is a problem with the phones. I cannot get through. Bogus company, please stay away and don’t waste your time. They don’t care and will not be able to help you with an account problem. They refused to fix mine.

Avoid Abusive Capital One Costco

Avoid Abusive Capital One Costco MasterCard. I found out the hard way that they have a policy and an automated system that deletes a credit balance and (they claim) sends the customer a cheque. They choose not to contact the customer. They take this action without authorization by the customer. Of course, they know very well that a certain proportion of these cheques (assuming they are actually mailed) will never be cashed/deposited, meaning that Capital One pockets the money. This is abusive at minimum (I have had to waste hours to try to get some assurance that I will get my money back) and ultimately predatory in cases where cheques do not get cashed. I urge all consumers: Do yourself a favour by paying with cash at Costco, and avoid Capital One.

Their system is not updated even you paid partial of what you owed. No grace no mercy . I dont even like your system and customer service long time ago. It so happened Costco is my pharmacy , cant stand how you deal with us, using your card. Thank you Capital One I would really really pray hard that you will be a good company.

Speechless

Today, I called Capital One service to block a transaction. A relatively trivial matter. The service I received from Capital One was so incredibly bad, I'm at a loss on how to convey my rabbit-hole-esque experience in a credible way. It's beyond everything I could imagine. I felt like a tennis ball, thrown ceaselessly from person to person, who all robotically asked the same 10 questions in relatively broken English, to end up telling me they couldn't help me and needed to transfer me somewhere else. Round and round and round... In itself, it wouldn't have been that bad but for the fact that every employee sounded so thoroughly depressed and unintelligent, a bit like you'd imagine mindless drones paddling through their painful day. My answers (phone number, name, card number, etc.) were received with immense difficulty, making me repeat myself, on the same things, over and over again, until I felt like chewing my own tongue and spitting it out. I'm not one to ask for employees to litter their speech with lots of falsely cheerful "Have a successful day Sir!". But this experience was so disturbing that at some point I swear I felt insanity gnawing at my brain, and I had to abandon the procedure in order to prevent completely destroying my mood. I hope this is a rare chance event. I'll retry when I'm completely rested.

Avoid them

Been with them over a year. They don't bother to monitor to see if your credit score has increased for a larger credit amount. No control over credit limit increases whatsoever. No rewards, no perks to this card. They don't even report the right payment amounts to the credit bureau. These guys are very useless. Go with another company.

I've had excellent credit for over 35…

I've had excellent credit for over 35 years. Switched to Capital One because I heard their cash back rebates are one of the best with no annual fee. Used this card for over 5 years, no issues. All of a sudden they freeze my card, tell me I need to provide them with a physical address before they will unlock the card. After being on hold for over an hour, I give them my rural address. A month later, same thing. After being on hold for over an hour, I give them the same rural address. The third time this happened, I cancelled the card and asked for my refund on this card (stupid me over-paid the last bill). They told me they couldn't refund me until I updated my physical address. I told them they don't need my physical address as they have my mailing address. Finally I conceded and have been waiting for my refund ever since. First time they said they have to "hold" my money for 3 months. After 3 months, they said my cheque got returned and they'll have to re-issue me a refund. It's been close to 6 months now and I'm still waiting.

No rewards at all.

No rewards at all.
I never received any rewards and when contacting Capital One customer service they told me they sent me the over $700 reward in regular mail (no tracking info) which I never received. They refuse to send a new cheque and told me to cancel the card if I don't like their answer!!! Paying this card off and happily will find a new company. This is fraud in my opinion.
Update...Cancelled card and when I called to cancel they asked for what reason so I and them due to fraud and horrible customer service I received. They said "O, thank you for being a loyal customer, your account is now closed, goodbye". Stay far away from Capital One, they just lost the Costco contract as well.

This is 100% the worse Company to deal…

This is 100% the worse Company to deal with!!! We opted for a reloadable card when we do internet business. Twice we had to go to the Post Office to verify ourselves with ID. Because Cap One said they never got the verified form the first time. This whole process took many months and still no card. But, I get statements. So I told these jokers wherever country their call center is ??? to send a new card or cancel. So I called them back for the 10th time. They said No problem will send you a new card if the Post Office does not have it. I called all the PO's near me. The post office doesn't have and now Cap One said the card was canceled. Call Center said we can reactivate when they send me a new card. Not True. Now we are told once it's canceled we cannot reissue. It's been 5 mths. NO card NO money. Scam!!!!!! This process started in April. It is now August and Capital One says a check will be issued. 100% DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM OR GIVE THEM ANY MONEY IN ADVANCE. THEY WILL HOLD IT RANSOM!!!!!!!
