Stay away. Perfect example of how not to run a product. After releasing a new version, "Mirage", they completely stopped supporting clients who had the previous plan. They moved the subscription to their new product, but while being charged the same you can create maybe 5% of what you were able to do before. Constant changes in policy, to the point where even their customer support didn't know if the subscriptions are shared or not. Glaring performance issues on the desktop version that "they are aware of" for months, but won't do anything to fix. Browser version has been unusable for months with random generation errors for no reason at all - you have to do everything through their mobile app. Let alone issues with calculating the amount of credits that will be used - a 300 word video was supposedly 6 minutes long and wanted to use 5x my monthly amount of credits. Typical sillicon valley venture capital burner, not a product for customers. If you're thinking of subscribing, please look for something else.

Great on mobile - terrible on Web

Great on mobile, but the most disappointing platform on web. Being on the market for so long, you would expect that for the money they charge they would have a properly running platform.

Sadly, because of the number of downsides the platform has on web, I cannot give them more than a 1 star.

• Videos lag on the web version.

• It’s very difficult to move text left or right because of the lag.

• If you try to use the platform across multiple devices (desktop, laptop, mobile), your projects do not appear on all of them. They only show on the device you were working from initially. If you want to move from mobile to desktop, good luck.

• Sometimes when you update text it does not save, and you have to make the same change twice.

• Occasionally the platform refuses to upload a file and throws an error, yet the exact same video file uploads without any problem on mobile.

These are just some of the major issues that pushed me to write this review.

It is great for mobile content creators but unfortunately if you are an editor who wants to move away from Premiere Pro for captions and use a faster and more accurate web platform without the hassle of uploading and downloading files on mobile, this platform does not seem to be it.

Until you get this in place, Captions, I am afraid this 1 star will live here.

Do not trust them with your money

You pay and all of the sudden they change their mind and exclude the service you already paid for and ask you to pay for an additional plan to get the service you are actually supposed to to get based on your initial payment this is ridiculous customer service did not offer any helpful alternatives and they are taking way too long to get this over with i highly doubt not recommend paying especially not annually as you do not know they might change their mind and stop the service due to “ high demand” and they will literally tell you it is their right to do so

I would not recommend it.

I’m honestly very disappointed with this service.

What Captions offers today can already be done in tools like CapCut – and for a significantly lower price. There’s nothing here that would justify the cost.

The credit system feels especially frustrating and misleading. You pay for a subscription, but then you’re still limited by credits, which run out quickly. It feels like you’re being charged twice for the same thing.

What really made this a bad experience for me was the refund policy. I decided to cancel after about 10 days, during which I used the service maybe 2 days in total. Despite that, I was refunded $26 less than what I paid.

That doesn’t feel fair at all.

Overall, this service is overpriced, unnecessarily complicated, and the refund handling left a very negative impression. I would not recommend it.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service, greedy company. I asked for a refund and was denied. They did a UI switch so I had a "Free" account status on my dashboard while they charged me for 5 months.

I only got 1 month back. Don't buy this.

Could be bettr, but good for short clips

Sometimes it works smoothly and the captions look great, other times it slows down or acts buggy for no clear reason.

It’s fine for casual use or short clips, but for regular content work it can be unreliable

Horrible experience

I am beyond disappointed. I used to rely on this software for one reason: getting captions on my videos in a simple, easy, and efficient way. It was a job the software used to excel at. However, recently, the company has abandoned its core utility to push an "AI" narrative that is, frankly, complete garbage.

I have never been so frustrated by a company forcing AI on me in every capacity outside of what I actually need. The software is called "Captions," yet instead of doubling down on the one thing they did well, they have expanded into a suite of useless features that nobody asked for.

The last straw was the forced migration to "Mirage Studio." I am now being forced into an interface I never wanted, and I can no longer easily access the original captioning software I actually paid for. To make matters worse, customer service is a black hole. They are slow, unresponsive, and refuse to acknowledge a simple request: let me use the tools I signed up for.

After doing my own digging, I managed to find the old software with no help from their support team. The fact that I had to fight the company just to use their own product is pathetic.

I have officially requested a full refund and demanded they delete all my data. I will never recommend this software to anyone. If you have not subscribed yet: RUN. If you are currently subscribed: CANCEL. This has become a horrible, bloated mess that has lost sight of its own name.

i’m writing to report an unprofessional…

i’m writing to report an unprofessional interaction i had with a member of your team named nate.

i was already in active communication with another representative (sam) regarding a potential affiliate collaboration. sam explicitly informed me that he would help open the affiliate program for me and provided a contact to continue the process. based on that guidance, i followed up in good faith.

however, nate replied with a dismissive and unnecessarily rude message, stating that there was “no need to follow up” and implying that i should essentially stop contacting your team, without acknowledging the prior conversation or context.

the issue is not the rejection itself — i fully understand and respect internal criteria. the problem is the tone and lack of professionalism in the response, especially when i was acting based on instructions given by another member of your team.

as someone with extensive experience in digital marketing partnerships, i found this response disappointing and misaligned with what i would expect from a company in this space.

i hope this feedback helps improve internal communication and customer handling going forward.

I paid for an annual plan

I paid for an annual plan, and everything was going well. Two months in, they removed 90% of their avatars. I reached out to ask what happened. They said, "The community creators in the app are real people we've partnered with under contract. Some of those contracts have recently ended and won't be renewed. But you can use Mirage.app with 200 monthly credits that can only create four 30-second videos." If I were you, I would stay away from both apps and look for something better to use.

Please do not fall for this scam

Please do not fall for this scam. It is unusable, glitchy, and can not edit absolutely anything inside "studio". Absolute lie, I've never seen that bad app, I wish you all the worst and hope no one will ever buy your subscription. You should be ashamed of yourself. Whole team should be ashamed what garbage are you promoting and scamming people all over the world. If i could give you 0 stars I absolutely would. You don't deserve even 0 star. Disgusting.

constant export errors

constant export errors, audio shifts even on 10second clips, there is no way to explain how frustrating the experience is. I need to deliver shorts to client, I only get issues day in and day out. Also the controls are clunky and page is painfully slow. Support just says "well...we'll fix it someday", it's over a year and they have not fixed a single issue. they just keep adding stuff and changing interface all the time and it works even worse now. It's a resource hog, i have i5 14600K with 32gb ddr5, rtx 5070 and nvme ssd 4TB, and while I edit videos that are 4K and multiple layers of FX and nosie reduction and color grading without an issue, this simple web page slows my pc to a crawl!
