Their customer service is absolutely…
Their customer service is absolutely horrible. Whenever I try to talk to somebody, I have to wait about two weeks after repeatedly emailing to get a response. My claim was for Turbo and timing chain repair. They did not even cover half of the roughly $7,000 worth of repair. I am trying to recover that. They told me they would cover my last installment payment of $742. Of which they did not and I'm still working on that. In the paperwork they said they would cover 7 Days of car rental. I ended up having a car for 28 days due to their lack of communication and approval. They only covered me for 10 days. I am totally disgusted with this company
I am absolutely disgusted with this…
I am absolutely disgusted with this company dropped my car off at the mechanic he did the teardown and waited for their carchex inspector to come. The inspector came told my mechanic The repair was approved. The next day after my car had been put back together and I had rented a car for two days that was also supposed to be covered FYI. I got a call from carchex letting me know that my Repair was not approved and I would have to pay out of pocket. I would’ve never had such an expensive repair done and I would’ve not have rented a car for two days. I am out the $1500 for repair and over $3000 to a car warranty protection that just left me hanging and lied to me and my mechanic. Buyer beware absolutely do not use this company.

Carfax is an excellent company
Carfax is an excellent company. I have nothing but great things to say. Excellent, friendly customer service & very quick to resolve issues. They emailed me back in a few hours & my problem was resolved immediately. Thank you!
I purchased carchex Sept 2019 on a 2009…
I purchased carchex Sept 2019 on a 2009 Cadillac XLR. At the that time the car had 50,000 miles give or take a hundred miles. The car developed an issue in February 2021 and it was taken to a Cadillac dealer in Port Richey, FL. The "stabilitrak" warning light came on and never went off. A few weeks before the hood shocks stopped working and the hood would not stay open. While the car was being checked I authorized the dealership to scan the car for other problems and they found one regarding the rear differential having a small leak. With regards to the "stabilitrak" light it was found that a steering sensor needed to be replaced. That sensor repair costs $625. Carchex would not cover this repair. The hood shocks cost $250. Carchex would not cover this repair. The differential repair carchex would only pay a small percentage of the cost of the repair. Because of this I have taken the steps to cancel my warranty. I figured I had been paying $160 a month since Sept 2019 for nothing.

You did horrible!
You did horrible!! The policy that your company raves about is a complete lie!! Your company lies to get customers in and then do not keep true to the words written on the customer's policies, I know because I had 3 car warranties with your company. The sales rep that the company employs is trained to lie to the customers. I'm in the process of filing a Class Act Lawsuit for all the customers you have wronged with your sick warranties.

Service good after initial disappointment
My daughter and I contracted with CarChex on the same day, and since my daughter initiated the call to purchase her contract, she was told she would receive a $50 referral gift card when I also agreed to purchase a contract. The gift card was never sent to her, and we learned 7 months later that the sales rep listed both contracts under her name. This was a big disappointment to her.
As for the coverage, my daughter has been very satisfied with the service she has received when she needed repairs to her vehicle because she could take her car to the service facility that services her car on a regular basis. The $100 deductible seems reasonable for major repairs.
We are repeat customers
We are repeat customers, which should tell it all.
In our first “term” with CarChex the salesperson and a customer service rep (Larry P.) were very helpful and treated us as valued customers. Ultimately, when one of our vehicles needed a covered repair we were amazed by how painless the entire experience was! I confess that I wondered when the bubble would burst, but it never did.
So, when our warranties expired we just called CarChex without hesitation.
Our salesperson this time around (Patrick F.) treated us with the cheerful professionalism we have come to realize is characteristic of the staff at CarChex.
We are very satisfied customers.
My partner and I are going to be…
My partner and I are going to be looking to purchase a 2021 Honda AWD in late March 2021, we have contacted all the local greater Greensboro, NC Honda dealers and asked them to call us in mid-March to set up a test drive and discuss the other prices that we have received for the 2021 Honda AWD vehicle.
DO NOT SIGN UP WITH CARCHEX- THEY ARE…
DO NOT SIGN UP WITH CARCHEX- THEY ARE NOT WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE!
I've owned many vehicles, most of which I've purchased extended warranties for through the selling dealer. In my most recent car purchase, a 2013 BMW 135i with just 40k miles, I decided to opt out of the warranty the dealership was offering and sought out to find my preferred plan instead. After much research, I was convinced CarChex was the right fit for me. Reviews on BBB, consumer affairs and other reputable agencies praised this company. After speaking with the representative and getting clarification on many of my areas of concerns, I purchased the titanium coverage (bumper to bumper some exclusions apply).
Fast forward 6 months and 3k miles, my car starts to experience a few problems. Rightfully so, I took my car in to a reputable BMW dealer for diagnostics. Per contractual agreement, I’m subject to rental reimbursement contingent on claim coverage. The diagnostics returned with several components on my vehicle needing coverage, i.e. Trailing arms on both driver and passenger side, coolant sensor and reservoir and a new window module regulator. An inspector was sent from CarChex to confirm these indeed were faulty prior to approval but was given confirmation they all qualified for coverage.
*THIS IS WHERE MY EXPERIENCE WITH CARCHECX TOOK A TURN FOR THE WORST! *
Five days have passed since the initial diagnostics. During this time, I’ve been driving around in a rental provided by the dealership. Confident my claim was covered per my contract; I didn’t think twice on taking the dealer up on the rental. I received notice from the service advisor as soon as word came back from my open claim, the verdict was that carchex would only cover a 3rd of invoiced total (labor and parts). In disbelief, I immediately call carchex to discuss further in detail. It was then when they disclosed my policy is not through carchex but instead Royal Administration Services, Inc. (a company with ONE star rating on BBB, CSR, CA). Still unsure of what I was being told, I got passed along from rep to rep with hope to get more clarification. CarChex DOES NOT HANDLE THIS CLAIM, they’re just the scouters. They then sell you off to a third-party administration company with their own set of guidelines some not disclosed on the initial contract. They’ll try and convince you a PDF was sent to your inbox but really, it’s an Adobe link that prompts you downloading adobe. I have Adobe installed on my computer and manage hundreds of PDFs a day. Had this indeed been a real PDF, the contract would’ve opened properly after clicking on the link. Customer service at Royal is despicable! They’re inability to communicate with professionalism is mind boggling. They have no sense of respect for you, the consumer. To sum up my story, I paid a 6-month premium to a company who falsefully represented me. Regarding my claim, they will NOT cover OEM replacement parts (not disclosed on my initial call despite me asking specifically), instead comparable parts to the year and make of the vehicle aka USED parts! No dealership will ever sell or install used parts on your vehicle as this will later be a liability to them. As for labor, they only cover the number of hours detailed in a manual they reference, one that’s not very realistic. Additional hours will NOT be covered! Furthermore, the inspector sent to the dealership did NOT perform a thorough inspection. My claim for the coolant light and window module were both denied because they were unable to duplicate these occurrences despite it being present at the time of drop off and pickup (they argued with me and even told me I was being irrational for not believing them).
To put everything into perspective, I was quoted by the dealership $2100 and 12 hours of labor for all parts and labor whereas CarChex/ Royal only approved $431 and 2 hours of labor! Car rental was also on me as 2 hours of labor does not justify means for a rental. Unwilling to pay $2K out of pocket for something I should’ve only paid my $50 deductible, I asked my car not to be worked on and that I’d pick up in the afternoon. I was still held liable for the diagnostic fee of $200 and $286 for the rental, neither approved for reimbursement. I immediately canceled my plan with carchex/ royal. I refuse to continue paying a monthly rate for the crap service I received. They’ll always paint you the perfect picture to try to sell you on their product, they’ll verbally agree to things later not included in your written contract (if you’re lucky to receive a physical copy). Before you consider carchex, think again. If nothing else, I at least hope this review entices you to look further into them before committing.
I was very happy with the sales team in…
I was very happy with the sales team in getting me a decent price that was competitive with other extended warranty providers. However, when i tried to call a week before my 30 day money back guarantee was up to cancel my policy, because i found a better deal with increased mileage available in contract, i was steered in a direction of waiting another week to make the decision. I agreed, and called back today on the 4th, this being the last of my 30 days to cancel my contract with a full refund, and i was placed on hold from 4:15 clear up until they closed at 5:00, at which time my call was automatically disconnected! I feel that this was purposefully done to prevent me from being able to cancel my contract until tomorrow; at which time they can then say that i'm not entitled to a full refund.... I'm leaving a review on here in hopes that it offers a paper trail as to my intent that was denied and on the date that still entitles me to a full refund. I will update their rating in a positive way, that i now place at 3 stars, if positive resolution is given back to me that wasn't afforded on my attempt to cancel during their normal business hours.

I paid $189.95 for someone in Arlington, Texas to inspect a 2006 Audi A3. They omitted a 18" long crease on the hatchback, and obvious oil leak, a missing factory skid plate other damage on the left facing front corner, and a parasitic battery drain, a broken control arm on the front passenger side which also affected the driveshaft that needed replacement. I file a complaint with Carchex and they never responded. This happened in 2015. I just thought people should know what type of scam they are running.

This is my second claims denial with Carchex. I have a plan that covers the power train on my vehicle and the claims person immediately told me the camshaft position sensor was not listed as a part under the power train .What an overrated company.I wish I had tried carshield or any other extended warranty company. What a waste of a monthly payment.

Past experience with CARCHEX.
Past experience with CARCHEX.
I decided to get coverage for my recently purchased 2007 Volkswagen Passat.
Looking forward to the good help I have received in the past from them.
Good at first glance. Expensive. Didn't buy from them.
CARCHEX comes with a recommendation from Jeff Ostroff (carbuyingtips.com), which inevitably elevates them among the peers. CARCHEX offers attractive exclusionary coverage, but it comes at a whopping price, comparable to the dealership quote. Working with Eric Pinkney was a pleasure: quick and thorough follow-ups, informative no-pressure explanations. In the end, did not buy coverage from Endurance, but consider them as #2 of the companies I requested quotes from. Again: expensive.
Horrible Experience
I switched my Extended Warranty to Car Chex on my 2006 DTS for protection. I paid the premiums for 3 years totalling over $4000. For 3 years the ran fine. Then there was some problems. We had to fight to get them to pay for items in the contract they were supposed to cover. Some things they declined that were supposed to be covered. The sales people lied to us upon selling us the contract and continue to do so. I am a senior that I thought was buying protection but was ripped off. Terrible company.
