They are awful, do not open an account - you'll be sorry. I have had an account for years and want to transfer to Schwab as I'm getting older and need to consolidate. They have put so many bar... See more

Barclays Bank Delaware can’t be trusted
Barclays Destroyed My Credit Over an Illegal Charge – Avoid at All Costs!
1 Star Review
Barclays has been an absolute nightmare. A year ago, I disabled autopay on my Wix.com subscription right after setup because I hate recurring charges. Despite that, Wix hit my JetBlue Plus Card (issued by Barclays) with a surprise $249 renewal in January 2025 – no reminder, no consent, and their cancellation process was a shady loop bouncing between website and app, making it impossible to opt out properly.
I disputed it immediately under the Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA), which requires banks to investigate unauthorized charges within 30 days, provide provisional credit, and not report as delinquent during review. Barclays? They ignored my nine separate contacts over the year, closed the dispute without resolution, and kept billing me. This violated FCBA by failing to conduct a good-faith investigation and allowing collections on a disputed amount.
Worse, they sided with Wix, whose practices break the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act (ROSCA) – merchants must get explicit consent for auto-renewals and make cancellation as easy as sign-up. Wix buried the opt-out with no clear disclosures, and Barclays enabled it by upholding the charge, making them complicit in deceptive practices under FTC Act Section 5.
Then they reported the bogus “late payment” to credit bureaus, tanking my score from 740 to 604 – a clear violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which prohibits inaccurate reporting of disputed items and requires deletion of errors. I had a perfect history with them, but they chose a merchant over me, admitting in DMs that the “merchant is more important.”
BBB, CFPB complaints? Useless – they just sent form letters like “sorry you feel that way.” Even emailing their Office of the President got crickets after an auto-reply. Now I’m boosting ads with their own $249 to warn everyone.
Boycott Barclays. Cancel your cards. They’re not a bank; they’re a trap.
Poor technology & poor Customer Service
Surprised JetBlue still works with Barclays’. It has one of the most limited technology than most other issuers. No real supportive customer service. And their process of adding cards to Apple Pay or Samsung Pay is basically obsolete. You need to call and it will still not necessarily work. Looking forward to when JetBlue cut ties with Barclays.
Advantage Aviator MasterCard Scam
I use this Advantage Aviator MasterCard on a daily basis. I opened my bill to find I had been charged interest? How? My card is set to autopsy the statement balance seven days before the payment due date! I have never had this issue in the past. This is a scam and money grab. I have ALWAYS paid my balance in full without any issues, until now. I called customer service, was told they were escalating my complaint, and never heard from anyone to follow up. I am incredibly disappointed and will discontinue using this card.
Horrible incompetent Customer Service
Horrible incompetent Gap Rewards MC customer service. I have had issues before and I try under any circumstance to NOT call these people. I had to contact them because I got locked out of my account and needed to make a payment. It went down hill from there. Its the worst customer service I have ever experienced, worse than Chase and that is a lot to say. They farm out these jobs overseas to people that barely speak English when there is so much need for jobs here in the States. The execs at Barclay's should be ashamed of this.
JetBlue please find a better credit card issuer!
I have a JetBlue Mastercard but it's been locked for two months because their security department keeps asking for more documents, and they refuse to close my account. I see others have had similar issues. I have wasted so much time on the phone, and today was asked to re-send the same documents I sent a month ago "because there were no notations from their review team". Nobody can do anything but tell me to call later. And some of the reps have been rude.
I just want to close the account at this point, since I've realized this is the worst card issuer ever.
BarclayBank JetBlue On-Boarding Experiences
We had a bizarre and customer-unfriendly experience with Barclay Bank, which services Jet Blue credit cards:
- We applied two weeks ago and received credit cards in the mail.
- We attempted to access our account online (ready to fly JetBlue!) and encountered a problem signing in. We tried five or six times with no success.
- After speaking to the customer service representative (very helpful and patient), she indicated that she had created a case for the IT team to grant us access, and that it would take up to two months to obtain online access, mentioning that we would need to pay from paper statements.
We have held world-class credit cards from Amex, USAA, and others. Never have we ever had to wait up to two months to get online access.
We are currently considering booking with Delta to Los Angeles. JetBlue is a great airline, support for their credit card is third-world.
This is the absolute most despicable …
This is the absolute most despicable company I have ever worked with. Fraudulent and incompetent. I had a gap card in good standing for years. Barclays brought them out and it had been downhill from there. I signed up for the assistance program due to temporary hardship. They closed my account without notification. Then they told me to pick a due date each month. I picked the 30th of each month and put my payment on autopay. After checking around month 3 I realized they have been charging me late fees! Apparently they wanted the payment on the 21st of each month and never told me! So it was late each time. So doing my due diligence I increased my monthly payment and changed the due date to the 21st. Great right? WRONG. Not only did I get 2 emails reminding me that my $80 would be withdrawn on the 21st.. I check my account to see that $259.08 has been taken! I did not authorize that amount at all! How can a company do this?? No one had answers! I had to file a dispute with my bank. I have cancelled autopay and all future payments so I can pay manually and be done with this vile company once and for all.
Barclays Bank- Worst experience ever!!
My Barclays savings account has been frozen since early July 2025. I sent all requested documents (ID, bank statements, business ownership letter) to DepositResearch email on July 2, confirmed receipt, and have followed up multiple times.
Over a month later, my funds remain inaccessible and I’m told it’s “under review” with no timeline. This is unacceptable — I need immediate resolution or a written explanation
Very poor customer service
Very poor customer service! All calls routed to the Philippines even the local DE numbers for the brick and mortar. Savings account representatives place calls on hold for extended time or mute calls for extended times then hang up when they don't want to help. When ask to speak with a banking supervisor, manager, fraud, security or technical support department, told they don't have direct contact, they can not transfer you and they will put in a ticket for contact within 24-48hrs!! No immediate assistance for issues or fraud/scams.
I opened an online Barclays banking account which they immediately associated with a closed credit card account once I set up online access. After logging out of the initial setup and trying to re-enter, they started asking for a 3-digit security code from a credit card that I do not have. When I tried calling in to report the issue with my online access, the calls where routed to the credit card department!?!?! Needless to say, several calls, hang -ups from their reps, and requests to get the issues fixed, nothing has been resolved; it got worse to the point they completely restricted any ability to try to get online to view the savings account that was newly opened. Upon calling to find out why the account is now completely restricted and unable to been seen at all by me, they stated they want me to send personal information to an email address to verify who I am!?!?! No email correspondence as to why the account was linked to a closed credit card for online access verification that I do not have, no email notification that the account had been restricted or why, BUT they want me to send personal information for verification of who I am to lift a restriction before closing the account, really??? Comprehendable if I still wanted to keep the account and I could see online what was going on with the account, but to be completely blocked out of the account with no way of seeing anything is not acceptable, then to be asked to send personal information to them via an email with hopes of them correcting the issue is crazy. No supervisor or escalations of any sort for banking available without a 24/48hr wait according to the representatives that spoke with me. I have now been waiting 6 days to receive a response from the initial request for help on July 22nd!!!
No electronic notifications of online or account changes initiated by the bank to inform the client of issues or restraints.
This IS NOT a bank to do any type of banking if my experience is a reflection of how they conduct personal banking business for online banking clients. The bank only allows bank ach transfers or bank wires to access your money, no atm cards, so if online access is removed and couple that with poor customer service, it does not make for a good banking decision. Trusting customer service to be of service is paramount when online access and customer service is your only way to manage your money.
I AM happy I did not fund this account when I first set it up...something told me to wait until access was good, glad I listened. Had I not, I would have been completely blocked from my funds with no way to see or retrieve them other than dealing with poor customer service with hopes they feel like listening to your full issue without cutting you off thinking they already know what you are going to say or need and dismissing you by ending the call when they feel they can't or don't want to help, listen or transfer to a higher tier of help, supervision and management. Really sad and disappointing to say the least.
Very poor service by fraud department
Very poor service by fraud dept to longtime card customer. I’m deaf and they wouldn’t accommodate my disability to resolve my situation. I couldn’t follow their “normal” procedures used which is made for hearing people so they wouldn’t assist me. I called five times over five months to try to resolve the issue and even talked to a manager and no o would resolve the issue. I will no longer be their customer.
Absolute garbage company
Absolute garbage company. 830 credit score, 20k limit card. Not one late payment. Typically paid in full each month. Cut my credit limit by 75% with no warning and for no valid reason. Refused to reinstate without a limit increase request, incurring a fee and requiring a credit check - for a company I've had credit with for years and years. Card paid in full, locked and will never be used again.
This is in top of multiple security issues and a higher rate than any of my other cards.
Pushing customers to do online banking
Barclays seems to be coercing customers to do more online banking. To make matters worse, they have some of the most deficient customer service agents whose English skills are about the worst.
Horrible company
Abysmal customer service. Reports multiple falsehoods to the CRA’s and continues to gaslight consumers when they dispute it. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE CON ARTISTS!
Never follow up on fraud
Ugh. After several years, I have had so many issues with their staff or custoemr support. And I just had the third fraudulent charge on my credit card in a a numebr of years. Barclay's started an investigation into all three, and then within days I got a letter in the mail saying they cancelled my dispute. As if the day I spoke to a rep on the phone, the cancelled it immediately and didn't even bother to look at the evidence I had. I don't just hate this bank; they literally have helped people steal from me. Three times.
NO CONSIDERATION FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS
They updated their website. The instructions on how to get into the new site did not work. After 20 minutes of trying I phone them. The agent sent me to a completely different url that had the same procedure. Because I usually use my fingerprint to login. I could not recall my password. She advised me to change the password. I entered a new password & a new error screen came up.
At that point I just hung up. Close to an hour wasted & I still cannot access my savings account. I'll try again after a few days & I will close my account.
I was scammed by Barclays
I was scammed by Barclays. They issued me a credit card and then they put $10,000 worth of fraud on it. Their fraud team were horrible and ended up stealing the funds. Sickening what these ppl can do to you. Do NOT sign up with any of their products. They do not care about Americans.
Terrible experience with Barclays
As a part of the credit card application process - which has now taken over a month and is still ongoing - Barclays requested and then apparently mishandled sensitive information (drivers license, social security card, bank statement, IRS 1040). I explained I was nervous about sending in this documentation, pretty much everything someone would need to steal an identity. The security department assured me it would be safe, but somehow the wrong fax number (yes fax number) was included in the documentation request letter - so who knows where some of the documents went. I asked about it and no one in ‘customer service’ could give me a straight answer. It could be incompetence - most of the people I spoke with struggled with basic job knowledge and the English language. But I am worried that my personal documentation has not been appropriately tracked or safeguarded. Also, every time I call, they say I just need to send or resend another document. It is worrying that they are asking for documents again after previous ‘customer service’ said they were received and fine. How are these documents being files? How hard is it to verify someone’s identity? I am calling on a phone registered under my name …. The whole process has been maddening. I have never gone through anything like this - my credit is nearly perfect. I wanted to use this card to rack up miles to use on Lufthansa, but it is not worth the insanity. The incompetence is astounding. Don’t bother applying for this card - you’ll be releasing a lot of sensitive documents to an entity does not seem to have strong / effective information management protocols. Also, they’ll just keep asking for more and more, so if there is a security breach, you will be completely vulnerable. I’m actually writing a BBB complaint on this, because the Bank is asking for much more information than it needs to make a determination (judging by my experience with other credit card companies). As a result, they are putting customers at risk.
High Interest Rates and Arbitrary Credit Fluctuations
One of the most expense cards on the market designed to keep Barclay Bank margin of profit record breaking. Barclays plays with your credit score by lowering it without notice or closing your account without notice even when you are not late on payments and have a balance under $250. Barclay does things like this to reduce your credit score and to allow it to raise your interest rates as the debt to income increases as they deliberately reduce your limit. Say no to this credit card. Bad choice. Do not trust them.
Rewriting my review, Barclays has terrible hotline staff now
Barlcays used to be a perfect credit card. It is, until you talk to the new hotline staff. I used to talk to Americans and foreign people based in the USA with perfect fluency. Since these few years, it seems the company moved the USA credit card division to Asia. No one there understands what is going on. You talk to them and cannot understand them. They have a lack of fluency.
I got a credit card alert for a foreign transaction I myself made and had to call them. They took 45 minutes to remove the lock because the staff woman didn’t know what she was doing. She after repetition and finally understanding me went into the longest series of questions to prove I am who I am. In the past, I’ve had one fraud alert I needed to call Barclays with. Their questions were standard. The new ones asked me a pop quiz of four multiple choices like the models of cars when I have never owned a car, or my license info when I have a state ID never holding a USA driver’s license. The ten minute long pop quiz asked me questions about lifestyle choices I have never made, with all of the options wrong answers. I repeatedly told this person my name. She wanted “full name.” I told her again. Again. My social security number. I was logged into my account on the website giving her all of the info on there. She bothered me about why I had recently added an alternative phone number to reach me in the system and wouldn’t stop bullying me about it. If I wanted to steal my own credit card, I wouldn’t have done it over a boring $20 business tech purchase.
Dealing with the card and website is seamless. The people now suck. Friends say this is happening with Barclays UK somewhat in diminishing customer service post pandemic.
Barclays does NOT back their cardholders
Despite proof that linenlocker agreed to give me a refund for merch in the wrong color if i provided the tracking # for the return, barclays refused to support me and left the charge on my account, claiming that they left me voicemails which i did not receive. i no longer use this card, not trusting them to support their cardholders.
