Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 142 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found the pricing deceptively expensive, with unexpected fees and high interest rates, especially if promotional balances were not paid in full by the deadline. People frequently reported issues with their accounts, including unauthorized charges, decreased credit limits without notice, and difficulties understanding how payments were applied to promotional offers. The customer service was a major source of frustration, with many describing it as unhelpful, difficult to reach, and staffed by agents who lacked understanding or were rude. Some people were dissatisfied with the payment process, noting that payments were often misapplied or that they were charged late fees for paying too early. Conversely, a small portion of people felt satisfied with the service, finding it helpful for medical expenses and appreciating the no-interest promotional periods when managed correctly.

I’m quite frankly confused

I’m quite frankly confused. If you have a “Freeze” on all your credit reports with all major credit reporting agencies, and the “Freeze” has not been lifted, then how can CareCredit claim I’ve got bad credit and deny me an increase? Especially when all payments to them have been paid on time and whatever is paid is always more than what is owed. I don’t recommend CareCredit to anyone. The sooner I pay them off the better.

Care Credit greatly helped me save my dog, Jigsaw! I am in between jobs so don't currently have pet insurance for him. Then, Jigsaw ate some trash on a walk and started vomiting everywhere - I had to rush him to the vet because he wouldn't stop! I was soooo worried that my vet would charge me all at once, but because I have Care Credit, they allowed me to pay over time, giving me time to get back under my feet!!! I even had to call customer service about a bill question, and they answered my question within 5 minutes! Cannot recommend Care Credit enough for helping me save Jigsaw without going broke!

Gave one star because they wouldn't let me give them no stars. Had a cat emergency. Got a care credit account. A month later, I Have yet to see my card. They got the billing part right. They have no respect for card holders. Your call is important, that's why they have a machine answer, that machine asks for the same blinkin information you'll have to repeat to an agent after an outrageous amount of hold. Can't trust them to call you back. The agent has little English comprehension. That's how important your call is. THERE IS ALWAYS A HIGH CALL VOLUME, showing they just don't have enough respect for customers to hire enough people. Plus "VERIFY YOUR ADDRESS." He's looking at it. Why? Send the card. Do the job right.

-10 Stars is more like it

One star is way too high for them. Look at all these negative reviews! They shouldn’t be allowed to operate a business. I paid my bill on time and paid it off just for them to close my account lolll. Wonder if I can report them to the BBB for being unethical, thoughtless idiots?

ZERO STARS!

ZERO STARS!! ZERO STARS!! ZERO STARS!! Another money hungry company taking advantage of people that our in a hard place. DO NOT USE THEM!! It may be easy to apply and get approved for but you will absolutely regret it and it will put you WAYYY further into debt. You are able to pay small minimum payments for 12 to 18 months then after that they tack on the extremey high interest added double the debt. And even when you make minimum payments on that, it says it will tale 17 years to pay off!!! This should be illegal! Nothing is for the people! Just money hungry pigs!

Truly never experienced such a horrible…

Truly never experienced such a horrible customer service especially when speaking to a manager, someone who represents an entity and is supposed to assist the customer. Not only was the manager, Michelle Robinson, not helpful but raised her voice and she was speaking to an acquaintance instead of providing services. Do not recommend using this credit card as is obvious their employees are not well trained, and they charge you an incredible fee and added late fees to my account when the payments were made.

Incorrect auto pay deducted

I set up an autopay on my account, then changed the amount weeks before the due date. They drew the original amount not the changed amount. I phoned as soon as I saw the error, the day after the payment and they insisted that I must have changed the amount after the payment. That is just the most recent and most egregious of their faults.

Don’t waste your time or money

They will decrease your credit limit as you make monthly payments, then hit you with a huge interest amount at the end of the promotional period, causing your account to become negative and doubling the monthly minimum amount due. I use several major banks and this was the first time I have experienced something like this. No 30 day late payments, paying above the minimum and sometimes prior to the actual due date. Do not use their benefit program because they charge you $100 monthly, which takes away from your payment. Also was being charged interest during their deferment period. Very disappointed with my Care Credit experience. Had some terrible representatives that I encountered (most were pleasant). Will not recommend to family or friends. Will close account and never use again.

Had Care Credit for years NO MORE

I have had Care Credit for years, like 10 and NEVER late always paid more than minimum and had a decent limit around $3,800. Used for vet care, paid it down and saw they lowered my limit so I asked for increase and they gave it to me. Recently having teeth work done, using it and AGAIN they lowered my limit and again my credit score went down because of it. When you owe only 1/3 your credit score is not dinged but when you appear to be using ALL your credit, the credit reporting companies WILL lower your credit score. BUT Care Credit keeps lowering your limit amount down to where you are viewed as maxing out your card that LOWERS your credit score. THERE SHOULD BE A LAW AGAINST CREDITORS THAT DO THIS. I can see if your late paying but I NEVER was late. I WILL PAY THIS ..... off and NEVER use it again.

Predatory, Unethical Company

In both August and September, I made payments in excess of the minimum payment to fully cover non-promotional balances to avoid interest. In both instances, CareCredit applied these payments to promotional balances instead (attempting to make it so I would interest on the standard purchases). While they correct this when I reached out both times, be VERY careful and pay VERY close attention to your account.

I was charged exorbitant interest rates…

I was charged exorbitant interest rates of 29% and when I paid off the card and closed the account they continued to charge interest. They sent me a refund and then charged me interest. Deceptive practices! I called and spoke with a person both times, once to close and get final payment and again after they continued to charge me interest after closing.

It’s been more than a year and a half…

It’s been more than a year and a half ago I was using my card to pay my trainer. So every two I’d pay part of it. Well towards the end of my training payments I gave a payment that appeared and said processing the next it was gone then waited some more and my bank charged me but it wasn’t posted on my care credit. Spoke to some lady who was like a dump truck wouldn’t budge. She said wel I don’t see it so it wasn’t posted. I was ripped off that has never happened to me so I ended giving another payment. Some body need to investigate this company. I’ve never complained about any other company. But this one takes the cake. Then I get a promo that was gone simply it wasn’t on the statement but it was showing on my end and I gave it a week and some change and that when i decided to send a payment. Kate said she can’t do a damn thing oh and she can’t give me her last name but she has my info. So I’m calling tomorrow see if a manager will help me with this. I was told I have two to three weeks to pay off non promo and that’s exactly what I did but the system went ahead and paid off my promo. What a bunch of scammers I’ve done this process with other cards and have had multiple purchases and never been scammed as they have bunch of racist. Thats how they go about using your personal info.

They don’t deserve any stars

They don’t deserve any stars. Don’t go paperless. You need to read the small print. They have varied so called promotions that is up to the provider, really! Little did I know this since it’s been 18 months in the past, now it is 12 or maybe 6 months. Then they dump the complete huge interest from the start on your bill if not paid in full by the end of promotion. Customer Service no help, not their problem. Heads up for those thinking of using Carecredit. They need to change their name. No caring-ripoff.

Haven't and won't use the card

Haven't and won't use the card! We signed up for a vet account to help pay for my service dog's surgery. Nowhere on the website does it say the "promotions" are up to the vet, not "Care-less Credit". Do not go through them unless you plan on filing for bankruptcy to avoid paying their exorbitant 37% APR, sometimes over 50% if you don't pay it off within 6 months. These charges are applied retroactively and are permanent! If you already plan to file for bankruptcy, you might use it for your main vehicle or house (which can't be taken away in bankruptcy cases). The customer service didn't listen to us and made us wait for an hour to speak to a supervisor. We overheard the first representative speaking rudely about us to him in Hindi because we dared to question the additional three pages of fees they added to our account after we opened it... I speak Hindi, by the way...

That's federally illegal, by the way. We're going to discuss our situation with a lawyer, as they've been successfully sued for the exact issue I'm warning you about.

They are like loan sharks. So again, if you already planned to file for bankruptcy within 6 months, go ahead and take advantage of them.

Care credit has the worst customer…

Care credit has the worst customer service I have ever seen. I usually use CareCredit for my dental work. I've had three bouts of cancer in the last few years two of which required chemotherapy. I couldn't get dental work while I was getting chemotherapy. Now I am ready to go to the dentist and have my teeth cleaned and get an examination and I checked that my CareCredit card was still valid it expires in 2028. I called up to make sure that there was nothing on it and was told over the phone that it was canceled. It was canceled for non-use. I only use it for dental and if I have chemotherapy I can't get dental work. Thank goodness I looked it up before I went to the dentist and was embarrassed there. Absolutely no customer service by this company. They could have written me a letter and said we're going to cancel your card if we you don't use it they did not. Customer service was just lip service They offered nothing. Do not do not do not open an account with CareCredit They are the worst.

Uninformed customer service

Uninformed customer service, they will drop your calls (3 times) very frustrating. They ask you to call and apply by phone then give you a run around. Claim they mailed letters explaining their decision. No letters came. Send you emails to press link to their decision and it goes to a blank page. I have a 750-820 credit score. Their loss.I would explore other options
