Carrenters.is EV Icelandic rental Rocks!
Carrenters.is car share rental experience & review:
With all the peer to peer services spawning due to cheap powerful smart phones and instant touch apps, I decided to try Turo last August during a family trip to Montreal. The processing, pick up/drop off and car experience was very good so I had no problem trying Iceland's peer to peer car rental service Carrenters.is. when planning a hike & car camping tour with my 16 yr old daughter this past summer.
I found their sign up & in quite easy, search was easy with even more car selections added during my research during my spring 2022 rental search.
I found the selection & prices offered by Icelander car owners on Carrenters.is, to be reasonable & lower than the car rental agencies. I liked seeing all kinds of well equipped cars, different sizes and extra options over the minimum stock basic standard offered by every cookie cutter car rental agency. Sure, one can find a fully equipped German full sized luxury fr the big 3 renters but guaranteed it will come with an absolutely eye popping high rental rate.
Nope...that was not for me and as everything in Nordic Iceland is already higher than in Canada, I needed and was hoping to find a zero emission EV to touring Iceland's yonder's for 8 days- preferably a Tesla Model Y or X better optioned and w less cost than say a big Hertz even though I like Hertz.
Too my delight, I found an metalic ultramarine blue, Tesla Long Range Model Y, the only one on Carrenters. The price was decent & fair given all the included features & options compared to the big car agencies basic options. Carrenters staff was very quick in replying to my all email questions so it was a go after my Model Y owner's follow up and acceptance of my rental dates and payment authorizations.
Picking up the Model Y was straight forward, EV destination charging was surprisingly simple n easy and my car drop return was also easy including all follow up calls and texts with my Tesla owner during my 8 day summer EV car rental period. Range anxiety was never an issue as Iceland’s TeslaSuper Charging stations are well laid out. In between, if one wanted to top up there are some free 22.5KW & 50KW ( red booths) stations as well as plenty of 50-150KW fast chargers (3 other providers) so running a low battery was never an issue even in the WestFiords.
In short would I use Carrenters again and or recommend them to my friends & visitors to Iceland? That would be a 5 star yes... absolutely without question!
Thanks for your follow up & support Viktor.
Cheers,
