Carro car dont make a deposit before car inspection

Carro Review: Do a Third Party Inspection beforehand

Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5)

My Carro Journey – A Costly Lesson

I wanted to share my honest experience with Carro for anyone hesitating to buy from them. Do not repeat my mistake.

Step 1: Found a car I liked
Carro has a large selection of second-hand cars. I found a BYD that looked good on their platform.

Step 2: Trusted their word (big mistake)
Their agent assured me everything was under warranty. They said if anything was wrong, BYD (the car manufacturer) would fix it for free.

Step 3: Paid deposit before inspection
Because Carro has good reviews online, I paid the deposit first. I did not do a third-party inspection beforehand.

Step 4: The truth came out
I hired HKMI Motor to inspect the car after paying the deposit. To my shock:

· The car bumper was completely damaged
· The damage was hidden under the cover
· The seller had claimed there was no accident before I paid which HKMI said its related
HKMI even give an honest opinion if you have a purchase a car it doesnt make sense for you to go fix it yourself on day 1

Step 5: Carro refused to help
I asked Carro to either:

1. Fix the damage, or
2. Reduce the price so I could pay for repairs myself
3. I need to pay extra for carro to fix the car

Their response:
· "It has no warranty coverage on this part"
· "We only cover engine or structural damage – not cosmetics"
· "No adjustment on the price"
· "I cannot test drive myself"

The Worst Part

They did not even let me test drive the car after I paid the deposit. Their reason? Insurance issues. But they could have simply made me sign a waiver accepting liability for any damage during the test drive. Instead, they just said no.

I suspect once you pay the deposit, they simply don't care anymore.

Final Verdict for Hesitant Buyers

What Carro Told Me What Actually Happened
Everything is under warranty BYD won't cover the damage
No accident history damage found partly true

⚠️ MY ADVICE TO YOU:

1. NEVER pay a deposit before a third-party inspection HKMI only cost 1300hkd but if they find something it saves you a lot of money
2. Do not trust Carro's warranty claims – verify everything yourself
3. Get everything in writing before paying
4. Use an independent inspector like HKMI before sending any money
5. Be aware: If you pay the deposit, you either buy the car or lose your money

Carro will not fix cosmetic damage. They will not adjust pricing after deposit.

Learn from my mistake. Inspect first. Pay later.

However the only thing I know I still bought the car as I like it, but their after services sometime only 1% of compromised saves you lot of returning customers
