Really horrible app

Really horrible app, I called in daily to book my rides on time, they constantly changing my ride for up to 30 minutes to an hour later, so I get late to work constantly. Poor people like me need the service to get to and from work, you all just make it harder for people like me. Please better the app and service you provide.

Carta lied to me

April Lindauer, the head of Carta contacted me and WROTE that she had been ASSIGNED my trademark case by the US Patent Office. She HAD NOT. This was a scam attempt to get my business. USPTO doesn't assign anyone as only in house counsels work on your case. This is a bottom feeders way to trick people into using Carta or others' services. The info is public record so they get in touch saying they represent your case -they don't. Last thing we need - another dishonest lawyer. Why waste your degree Ms Lindauer?

Absolutely horrible to use

Signing up for a fund took me about 3 hours and a screenshare with my accountant. It seems to be set up for a very specific kind of company. Many of the required fields didn't make sense for my structure. I've had to put placeholder/best-effort docs in many places. I would have bounced if the fund wasn't run by a friend of mine.

The app itself is also a broken piece of trash. It constantly crashed and I had to upload the same documents about 10 times because it keeps losing them.

UI looks pretty clean though so good job to their designer :-)

Avoid this predatory company... they will likely not be around long.

Avoid this predatory company. We have been working to cancel our service for months, and they keep trying to give us hurdles to keep the account alive and sending us bills. They wanted $8,000 per year for our startup, and we are now working with a competitor for just a few hundred dollars. I suspect they will be bankrupt soon. Avoid at all cost. They overplayed their hand in the market, and now they're panicking, trying to hold onto revenue.

A SCAM!

A SCAM!
It is super hard to cancel the account before the renewal. I had to email them several times, have a call with them and after a few other emails I was given a form to complete the offboarding the same day by renewal was scheduled for. I had to rush in order to notbe charged and the process is not over yet. Totally unfair. It seems crazy that there is no button in the app to stop the automatic payment or cancel your account. Never again.

Crap Software, Crap Service

Originally I was sold on the fact that Carta could handle LLC's. That wasn't true. The onboarding was a nightmare and customer service was non-existent. Now 12 months later it's become a part-time second job to cancel our account before the renewal. Literally have to email and then keep bugging them.

If we would have just stuck with an Excel spreadsheet my life would be easier and we would have saved $6k.

Just use a spreadsheet. It will work better.

I'm sure Carta probably has a great…

I'm sure Carta probably has a great product for equity management, but I'd be cautious when it comes to purchasing a Carta subscription for any of their other newer products or features such as 409A valuations. Their sales persons will say anything to get you to sign up, even if it's misleading and untrue. And their relationship managers will stall their replies to your requests to cancel or refund your unused membership until your account conveniently (for them) automatically renews even though you asked them to cancel with ample prior notice. Quite the disappointing experience

Solid product with a mediocre UX.

I like Carta and as a Co-Founder, I don't want to spend a lot of time managing my cap table and compliance and working on 409A's. So Carta makes most of it very easy and is a great portal for our legal team and investors and employees with options to all have access to the information and documents they need.

I would say it's 5 stars, but I always have to hunt around to find what I'm looking for and the menus aren't organized/labeled how I would expect them to be. And the cap table report is sloppy and has to be cleaned up in a spreadsheet to make it presentable.

But overall, yes, I'd recommend them and would use them for future companies.
