Worst airline I’ve ever travelled..cancelled return tickets so got separated from family to travel back home. Had to buy our own single ticket to get home. Flights cancelled with no details if we are on the connecting flights. Delayed luggage as misinformed of re-checking in at Shanghai due to visa and immigration. Bags arrived 10 days later. No way of compensation. Shocking service and flights are below average

I had to arrange for my dad from Manila-Shanghai, Shanghai-London and vice versa to bring his own portable oxygen concentrator. As he has long Covid he needs oxygen and wheelchair assist due to shortness of breath.

ONLINE WEBSITE: Does not always translate to English. Incapable of and inflexible with inputting English names or phone numbers so I was unable to submit the necessary documents online.
PHONE SERVICES UNAVAILABLE AND COSTLY: Phone branches in the Philippines and London no answer, or either the wait is too long and the cost of calling is too much what is wrong with your technology???
CUSTOMER SERVICE POOR: they have stupidly absurd strict policies that do not make sense such as the 48 hours time limit to submit these paperwork’s before the flight time. I CONTACT AND EMAIL YOU THROUGH ALL THE APPOINTED BRANCHES AND DUE TO YOUR INCOMPETENCE THIS HAS LEFT THE CUSTOMER BEGGING FOR CENTRAL OFFICE TO ALLOW THIS EXCEPTION BECAUSE OF THESE ANCIENT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
Other airlines that we have booked with have a a smoother experience when requesting for the allowance of bringing a POC on board the flight and wheelchair assistance these are: AIRCHINA, CATHAY PACIFIC, KOREAN AIR, BRITISH AIRWAYS.
The question is why is it more stricter and difficult with you???!!!

Worst customer service ever, if you are not chinese.
I made a mistake in my passport number during the booking process and realized once i had the confirmation.
Impossible to reach their customers services, by any means. Social media, email, wechat,anything.
I found a whatsapp number from their branch in Amsterdam (I am in Indonesia....) and got the worst treatment from the person in charge....ending by "if you dont agree with this, call this number....". Of course no one answer.
I prefered to cancel my flight and lose a bit of money than flying with them.

I was 10-15mins late for check in for my return flight from London (as my earlier connecting flight was delayed significantly which caused this) and the last two ladies remaining at the check in desk were MORE than accomodating!!! I couldn't be grateful enough!!!!!
Even though they had signed out of the computers, packed up the online check in and closed off the online roll call, the manager asked her co-worker to check if the passenger list had been submitted or if she could open it up and add me - they were unsure if they could if it was submitted. They managed to access the list and added me! They could have easily not helped me too as I was far past the check in time.
They told me I had to run for my flight as I might not have made boarding (I literally JUST made it running through security and the airport).
I had to sign a waiver that my bag may not arrive on the same flight (it did).
My bag was oversized too and I had no issues taking it (kite/golf bag).
Hot tips:
- They accept oversized bag
- I recommend booking directly with them (not through a third party website like booking.com like I did, so you can check in in advance, and deal with them directly if you need to change flights)
- their food is very mediocre, bring your own if you are fussy, or pay $1k more for the same flight with a Tier 1 aeroplane that serves better food
- If you are vegetarian or fussy I would recommend bringing your own food
- They serve Chinese food like noodles, rice, veggies and meat, red bean soup...may be unusual if you have not been exposed to real Asian food
- I'd recommend being certain when booking your seats and flight day/time as it may be hard to get a hold with them to confirm anything
- Note that the last row of seats do recline, however if you need to change your seats after choosing, go slightly earlier to the airport and request the change when checking in.
- The air hosts are lovely and professional.
- The economy seats were fine and standard per any aeroplane
- Limited Hollywood movies but you will find something
Couldn't be more grateful for being able to check in to my return flight. For this price and service would definitely fly again. Just make sure you're organised!!
Absolute fraud
Despite booking tickets and obtaining confirmation, the China Eastern counter did not allow us to board the flight, claiming they had no seats for my family and I. Worst of all, the airline refused to refund me the price of the tickets. Called the hotline and they just brushed it off. Absolute fraudsters!!

Without a doubt, the worst company I have ever seen in my life, the staff is unpleasant and with no willingness to help you, the worst experience I have had in my life, I don't know how they can continue working with the terrible service they offer, in My case was with an airline official at the Bangkok airport. If they are not willing to serve their customers, customers who have paid a lot of money for their tickets, let them go do something else. The company moves at the pace of the type of client it has. Damage Luggage
This is an horrible airlines company with a bad Customer Service (never answered to my calls and emails). I travelled from London Heathrow and Bangkok and my luggage never arrived at the final destination, because was damaged at the Heathrow Airport. The result of this luggage damaged was that a lot of personal items were damaged and missing/lost. I made my claim but the company disappeared and couldn't be reached by phone/mail and by CAA. I am bringing them to the court. Avoid this company since I never had a problem like that.

The funny thing is that after weeks we still see that they are selling tickets for the original route and date. So why did they cancel it then? Where is customer protection and support? Now we have to wait 8-10 weeks to get our money back. I guess they collect money, invest it for quick and take the benefit.

I flew Singapore to Amsterdam with a transit in Shanghai, late May 2024. Both flights were on time. Aircrafts were clean and cabin staff were very good. Food was good too. Cheap at $A463 one way. I would fly again if good price.

This is my comment on China Eastern Airlines. During the three-day holiday, I was late for the first stop, causing me to miss the connecting flight. The offer is to stay at the hotel until the next day, then fly to another city, and fly to the destination at 11:30 p.m. In this way, I will lose 2 out of 3 days. I had to book another flight to my destination, and they also cancelled my return ticket. I have to buy another ticket to go home. Basically, I have to buy 3 tickets and stay in the city of my choice for 3 days. It cost me three times as much. China Eastern Airlines is required to refund the last stop and round-trip tickets. They will refund a small part of the tickets. The worst airline I've ever taken. Be careful of their connecting flights.

They are just unable to flight on time. Avoid this airline at all costs. Their flights are never on time without any reason. The most unprofessional and disrespectful airline. Even if the flight is just a few hours it will become a wasted day. They don’t even provide any anouncement about the delay. The legroom is much smaller than in other airlines and the food is disgusting.
Avoid China Eastern!
Very lazy and even rude stewards who didn’t bother to bring water during the 11 hours long flight from Shanghai to Amsterdam. The meals were almost impossible to eat. Very poor choice of international films/music. Online checkin didn’t work. Checking in at the airport in Fukuoka, Japan, was very slow and there was a clear language barrier. All in all it was my worst long-distance flight in 30 years of international travelling.

They lost my luggage
They lost my luggage, and havent received my compesation which we agreed on for 4 years now. If you have any problem with them, there is no chance someone will respond, they do not care. If you can, do not travel with them, they should close all their offices and maybe rent bikes or something.
Flight cancelled no solution until now…
I bought a plane ticket through mytrip.com to fly on May 21 round trip from the Philippines to Spain and China Eastern Airlines canceled my flight on April 17 and offered me the same flight at no cost the next day, which is May 22 . I accepted it, I am still waiting for the new plane ticket for more than 2 weeks and I still have no confirmation from the company. There are 18 days left and I still don't know if I will be able to travel to my country what make feel worried and stressful.
My impression as a client about CEA is disastrous, they do not care at all about their clients, treating them with this lack of professionalism and customer service, which is what one expects from an airline company. Very bad experience with China Eastern Airlines, I do not recommend it, terrible customer service.

- Flight was delayed with 8,5 hours. 1 hour before departure, they send a mail that there was a two hour delay. Same thing happened two hours later. From there on there was no communication and no reason for the delay. We just had to wait and hope the plain would show up.
- Because of the delay, we didn't make the second flight. We were put in a row at the reclaiming desk for 8 hours without any facility to eat or drink. 50 people before us all had tickets to our end destination that was meant as their layover to their end destination. They all got the tickets, except for us. We had to take a flight the day after to Kopenhagen while we found way better flights on our own. When we proposed those flights, they simply ignored our request.
- After a bit, a woman told us they had the same office a level below that they didn't tell us and only allow chineze citizens.
- When argumenting at the desk, they were ignoring the clients/travelers and were laughing behind the desk all the time. The worst customer service i've ever seen.
A trip that would take us less then 24hours ended up at a 56hour trip with almost no sleep, lack of food and drinks, the worst communication and very bad customer service. An absolute disgrace.
