CEX is actually a pretty good exchange I must admitt. I’ve had a change of heart : )

I recently deleted my bad review for this exchange because I was not being g fair. They wouldn’t let me into an account t I already kycd for and I got all bent out of shape cuz I didn’t have an id. Well cex was just doing their job and keeping my account safe. I can see that now and I apologize for the bad review. They have never stolen from me, they have a pretty cool telegram play to earn game going on right now, and they have excelent security with a good record of not being breached. So I this is my re review of CEX and they honestly deserve 5 stars. Thanks CEX.

card selfie verification

I am getting a message to verify my account with selfie and a card. however the debit card is expired and i have lost/blocked it already. The bank which issued the card merged with another bank to form a new bank hence does not exist anymore. I have been chasing CEX support for a long time and they just do not respond at all.

My account withdrawal option has been blocked.

This company for sure is a scam , I deposit 100 ada months ago and tried to withdrawal and ever since than no withdrawal available,this sites claims they got licensed in UK but yet they are cheep scammers that give away they true themselves for 30$ 😂😂😂

Can’t withdraw money

I made an account and bought some…

I made an account and bought some crypto so I can send it to my other wallet but had to go through all the security processes. After completing the KYC and Security questionnaires I wanted to withdraw my crypto but kept getting declined. I’ve written to support 3 days ago and still no response. If you care about your money do not and I repeat DO NOT think about using cex.io . Support is non-existent, prices and fees are extremely high, and they hold your assets hostage and don’t allow you to withdraw them even after completing all the necessary security procedures.

Beware - A Platform That Withholds Your Funds Without Justification

CEX.IO has proven to be completely unreliable and unethical. Despite having a fully verified AML/KYC account, my withdrawal request was blocked without any valid reason. Instead, I was bombarded with endless hoops to jump through—questionnaires, security checks, and other pointless requirements. Even after meeting all their demands, the platform has gone silent for over 10 days.

I’ve sent nearly 50 follow-ups with zero response. Meanwhile, my account value has doubled, but CEX.IO seems intent on holding my funds hostage, offering no transparency or accountability.

Their so-called customer service is a joke, and it's clear they are exploiting users. Avoid this platform at all costs.

I plan to file formal complaints with the FCA and Gibraltar regulators as an initial step. I strongly believe I am not alone in facing such unethical practices. If anyone has encountered similar issues with CEX.IO or is interested in pursuing legal action, please let me know.

Their support staff is by far the worst…

Their support staff is by far the worst thing i have ever seen in my entire life .

I have seen bad and even zero support exchanges around the world , but their support staff is next-level bad .

Support staff doesn't even know what crypto is , they will answer once every week .

None of my emails or chats have been answered , and since my assets are in that account in cex.io , im pursing legal action against them

Stay Away From Cexio

I've had an account with Cexio for several years. Two weeks ago I logged in (after not doing so for several months) and tried to update an expired credit card so I could deposit more funds (your loss Cexio) to jump on the BC run after the election. But wonderful Cexio suspended any withdrawal functions due to "suspicious behaviour" (???) and rejected four attempts to verify my new credit via selfies. I hadn't done anything different to any other time I'd logged in. A week later, still trying to verify my card, I uploaded my latest selfie and within 5 mins was rejected outright. It was at this point all communication stopped. No email replies. No chat replies. A week later, my notification panel still shows rejected with no way to upload another selfie. That's now two weeks locked away from my funds. They do not communicate. It's like they're hiding something. What I've noticed is... --There's a lot of recent complaints on Trustpilot about people being kept from their funds with Cexio using all kinds of word salads to their customers quoting Policies, Terms and Conditions etc blah blah blah when the customers, like me, hadn't done anything wrong or out of the ordinary. They use lots of disingenuous phrases like "We apologize for the frustrating experience" and "We apologize for any inconvenience caused" while telling you to contact support by chat which they then ignore. Cexio also like to victim blame by asking you not to send so many emails as it slows everything down for everybody else and to reply to your emails and check the spam and junk folders as it's your fault there is no communication. Interestingly, their "Social Networks Supervisor" has stopped responding to clients who posted on Trustpilot. Their last response was in August before the complaints started picking up steam. Personally, I think Cexio has had a security "incident" (Yes-I'm talking theft) occur and they're trying to limit the damage by clamping down on all withdrawals. Basically, taking it out on the customers and causing great distress because of their own incompetence. They've always been slack when it comes to customer service, but now they're hitting new lows. They're actually stealing people's money and hiding behind BS excuses on their way to bankruptcy. A little bit of transparency and honesty now might redeem the company's reputation somewhat. Again.....STAY AWAY FROM CEXIO.

Not possible to make withdrawals!!!

I have had a problem with this platform for over 4 years. I deposited money and bought a small a amount of crypto that is now worth about £500. I want to add that I am 80 years old and on a pension and this is a lot of money for me. But they won't let me withdraw my crypto. I have uploaded my photo holding my credit card several times over the years (which they use to verify if you can withdraw), and as my identification was verified over 4 years ago with a selfie it is obvious that I am the same person. But conveniently for them they have continued to reject my photo. They accept your money but won't let you withdraw. I am writing here hoping they see this and resolve my problem.

POOR RESPONSE TO REVIEW

I wrote a review of CEX.IO on June 1, 2022 and, to their credit, they responded on June 2, 2022. (Unfortunately, I could not retrieve that date for this review.) That is commendable, but the response was rather poor. They stated in part:

"As a law-abiding company that complies with international regulatory frameworks, we have established procedures and requirements we are not able to overcome. We're talking about KYC/AML policy designed to prevent money laundering, terrorist financing, drug and human trafficking, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, corruption, and bribery and to take action in case of any form of suspicious activity from its users.

The mentioned policy is based on the international standards for preventing illegal activity - customer due diligence (“CDD”). The main purpose of the AML/KYC procedure is to provide a safe trading environment for our users. More details on it can be found on our web page: (link supplied)

Please be advised that the procedure on our platform is performed by our Compliance Officers and implies a thorough investigation of all the information provided by the customer."

I have never once requested CEX to break any international standard and bend over backwards for me, so that response is nothing but fine window dressing mumbo-jumbo.

I have NEVER, EVER been involved in any money laundering, terrorist financing, drug and human trafficking, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, corruption, and bribery. NEVER!!! EVER!!!

That is the frustration of my experience. CEX is yet to tell me what they are accusing me of doing. It is emotional abuse to be wondering FOR YEARS, why exactly my account was closed. It is not a nice feeling.

To write to talk about compliance issues is one thing. To state how a client refused to comply is another. What I refused to comply with an IMPOSSIBLE request? Is that it?

They have just closed my account, REFUSED to tell me what I did wrong, and informed me the decision cannot be reversed.

By all means, punish me if I am in breach of policy, but it is an INJUSTICE to be accusing someone of a crime (the insinuation by their response) and REFUSING to tell me what the "crime" is.

Until this day I have ZERO IDEA of what CEX is accusing me, SPECIFICALLY of doing. They just asked me to provide IMPOSSIBLE information and closed my account.

It's your company. You are FREE to refuse to do business with me, but you have no right to accuse me and sully my reputation and REFUSE to tell me what specific policy I broke and how.

On June 14th, 2024, CEX.IO froze my account without warning, despite my verified status and long-standing history as a customer. The BTC was removed from my account between June 11th and 15th, and, months later, they continue to refuse any restitution or explanation regarding the missing funds.

Insider Confirmation of Theft
An insider has confirmed that my BTC was indeed stolen, not just misplaced or delayed. This insight brings into question not only CEX.IO’s ability to protect customer assets but also their honesty with affected users. Rather than addressing the theft transparently, CEX.IO has obscured the truth, further eroding trust in their platform.

Intrusive and Unjustified Data Requests
Following my initial review, CEX.IO inundated me with invasive demands for personal information—requests that go far beyond what is necessary for standard identity verification or security checks. Despite a thorough review of their Terms & Conditions (specifically clauses 8.2 and 8.3), I found no legitimate basis for these demands. It appears to be a strategy to delay any resolution, while CEX.IO clings to my assets without providing a clear justification.

Dubious FCA Registration Claims
CEX.IO has stated that it withdrew its application for FCA registration in May 2022 and was removed from the Temporary Registration Regime (TRR) by June 30th, 2022. However, these claims don’t hold up under scrutiny. The FCA has no records to substantiate CEX.IO's statements, which raises questions about whether CEX.IO is truly authorized to operate within the UK as they assert.

Moreover, a Cyprus-based company, Cex Markets LTD, was FCA-registered until November 2022, and it shares a director, Oleksandr Lutskevych, with CEX.IO. This director also oversees another crypto website, Cexbro, which appears to follow similar practices. These connections paint a picture of potentially deceptive business practices designed to obfuscate the company’s true operational status and accountability.

Inadequate Communication and Support
Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue, CEX.IO has been unresponsive, failing to address my missing BTC or provide any roadmap for resolution. This unresponsiveness highlights a broader issue with CEX.IO’s customer support and accountability. It seems the company is either unable or unwilling to address serious breaches affecting their users' funds, which should be a red flag for any potential investor.

A Cautionary Tale for Prospective Customers
My experience reveals a pattern of deception and irresponsibility within CEX.IO. They present themselves as a reputable UK-based exchange, yet they operate out of Ukraine, and their assurances of compliance appear hollow. Potential customers should be extremely cautious and conduct thorough research before trusting their assets to CEX.IO, given their history of avoiding accountability and skirting regulations.

The Role of Gateway 21
What’s equally troubling is the role of Gateway 21, the FCA-registered promoter associated with CEX.IO’s advertising. Gateway 21 appears to allow CEX.IO to continue marketing its services within the UK despite significant breaches in advertising standards. Gateway 21’s failure to enforce compliance guidelines has enabled CEX.IO to market misleading ads to UK customers, without proper risk warnings or transparency, potentially putting UK investors at risk.

Conclusion
My ordeal with CEX.IO underscores the importance of vigilance when dealing with crypto exchanges. CEX.IO has refused to return my BTC, and an insider has confirmed that my assets were stolen, raising serious questions about the platform’s trustworthiness. Compounding this issue, Gateway 21’s lax oversight has allowed CEX.IO to continue targeting UK customers, despite their clear disregard for FCA regulations.
