Beautiful ride but took a while to get it onto the road.

4.7 stars. Deserving of 5 stars but in being completely honest, I've knocked off a few points for some annoying delays in getting the bike fully assembled. To some extent, these can be put down to the pitfalls of ordering something online without being able to provide instant feedback about what requires changing. The first sticking point was that having ordered a quick-release front wheel, it came with the wrong sized spindle. After sending photos back to Chappelli, another spindle arrived in a week or so. After fitting the front wheel, it became obvious that at their maximum height the handlebars were too low for me so there was another delay and added expense for an adjustable stem. Finally ready to go-but wait, there's more. The Schwalbe Marathon Plus rear tyre had gone flat and I hadn't ridden anywhere yet! Removing the new, very stiff tyre took about a day and it appears that a faulty tube valve was the culprit.
All of that seems an age ago now but it was worth the wait. The NuVinci hub is a dream and gives a silky smooth ride. Ideal for commuting or long weekend rides on anything but the more challenging climbs around Adelaide. Much less fussy to maintain and keep the drive train clean than my other bikes. Chappelli staff were very helpful and attended to my various queries promptly and courteously. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent after sale support.

I was surprised at the quick delivery even in Coonamble. Unfortunately there was minor damage due to transport and this was handled just as efficiently and quickly. Can't fault the product.

Unhelpful & Condescending.

I recently spent a lot of money at Chapelli on my bike, which I love. A customer new to owning a vintage racer and bikes in general, I felt patronised by the store manager whenever I asked questions about how to care for my purchase.
I had a pinch flat after just two rides and called the store for help on what to do. They dissmissed my enquiry and forwarded me onto another bike store for help, having already made their sale. Customer care, courtesy and friendly follow up post purchase is something I value when I spend money and to be so swiftly dismissed has left me disappointed. I regret purchasing at Chapelli. I understand that Christmas is a busy time of year, but it is no excuse to condescend people who are eager to learn about their new purchase. Experts shouldn't be jerks.

Hi Nikki,

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience and your feeling of disappointment with your purchase because of it. That shouldn't have happened and to be honest your experience doesn't sound normal. We are usually much praised for down-to-earth approach to bikes. We get a lot of first time riders and know that everyone isn't an expert and purposefully try to employ people who aren't too 'bikey'. We were very busy at Christmas but we aim to treat every customer issue as important and help them as best we can. I've spoken to the Melbourne manager who dealt with you and he said that you wanted us to repair the flat for free under warranty, however a pinch flat isn't a warranty issue so he offered to replace the tube for a fee that day or said he could do it after Christmas for free. I'm sorry that you felt he was being condescending. Next time you get a flat no matter how it happens, we'd be happy to replace it for free and don't forget to come in for your free service in the next few months.

Best regards
Tom

Great bike. Great service

I wanted to order a particular model and that had been discontinued. I emailed and received a prompt reply that there were still some left in stock and was promptly sent to me. Overall I am very impressed with the bike as well.

I wanted a bike and you got me one

Im a no fuss person who was recommend to Chappelli. You have great bikes so the choice is down to color and accessories so its and easy job.
I got the color and the accessories i wanted so i was happy.

The only problem was that the bike wasn't finished on the day you said but that was no issue as it was still a month early for the Christmas present that the bike was for. All in all im a happy customer

Chappelli was great, the freight they use not so good

Chappelli was great love my bike, the freight they use not so good. I received my bike though unfortunately the freight company where extremely rough, I had multiple scratches on the bike + the axle nut on my 3 speed was completely snapped. I later found out this also bent the pin inside my hub rendering it useless. Not Chappellis fault really happy with their service and the bike they instantly sent me a new axle nut when i informed them.

Fabulous product and customer service.

Despite not having the stock immediately available, the folks at Chappelli were helpful and informative. When the bike arrived it was very easy to assemble and is far superior than many other bikes I have seen in local shops.

Would not hesitate in buying from them again.

Love my new fixie ! ☺️

Personable! Reliable! Friendly!

Dealing with the Chappelli crew was delightful.

I ordered my fixie online and had it flown to Brisbane where it was put together by a member of the Chappelli team. All I had to do was pick it up. A real easy, trouble free purchase!

All that was left to do was to ride my fixie and it rides like a gem!

Thanks guys! ☺️
