Chargies for phones and tablets works great, Chargie for Laptops doesn't work at all on Windows. I contacted support, he said to use a 100W charger, so I bought one, and it still doesn't work - it almost never pairs with the chargie. In the rare occassion that it does, it says it's charging even though it is not. Completely worthless.

A long time coming, but got there in the end!

This review has been a long time coming.

I first bought a couple of Chargie A devices in November 2024, one year ago. They worked great with later versions of Android, but not earlier ones.

I did quite a lot of investigation and reported this as a fault, providing extensive notes to identify the problem. No response. One year later, an App update appeared that fixed the problem. Finally!

It now does what I bought it for. Better late than never.

Worthless junk

Luckily, I only ordered one because it doesn't work. The app allows me to think I can choose various settings but the device doesn't limit the charge. Chargie is worthless. Customer Service doesn't exist - never a response.

Chargie for Laptops: Disappointing Functionality Issues and Unresponsive Support

I backed Chargie for Laptops on Kickstarter and received the product as expected based on their communication.

Admittedly, I was a bit nervous as they coded the payment portal themselves, but the payment went through and shipping happened.

When I received the device, I installed the app on my MacBook per the instructions, then plugged it into my MacBook charger and plugged my MacBook into it.

... And... nothing. The device was not detected by the app for over 10 minutes using the automatic scan, so I switch to the manual scan. I'm not sure what the difference is, since it's still a scan, but... it did eventually pick up the Chargie.

The problem is, the Chargie does not work. With it plugged in and the app recognizing it, the power just starts and stops repeatedly. The device is effectively nonfunctional.

I reached out to support multiple times via their website and have not heard back.

Chargie Laptop (+ app) seem defective (and the customer service is worse)

I was super excited for the Chargie Laptop Kickstarter. I was frustrated by the delay but excited when the device finally arrived. Sadly, it's been nothing but a nuisance. It regularly declares that it has "disconnected". I've tried a wide combination of chargers and cables and it seems to persist through all of them. Worse, their customer service is completely non-responsive, as I've sent several messages (via multiple different channels) and have yet to hear back.

Update: I eventually heard back. Apparently this is "standard behavior" as the is only designed to work Chargie with a 100W charger. (At no point in the advertising was this made clear. I have a variety of chargers that came with my devices but nothing that large. And it would never occur to me to charge an iPad on 100W.)

Perfect for old iPhone and old iPad

Ordered a Chargie A Gold and a Chargie C Basic on Thursday July 10th, 2025. Package arrived Tuesday 15th, even before the tracking info that was sent by mail on Wednesday July 16. I have an old iPhone SE 2020 connected now with the Chargie A. The phone starts charging when the battery level is below 60% and stops at 80%. Just what is needed to extend the battery life. Minor remark: Putting the LEDs off does not work. The iOS-app says a Chargie A SE or newer is needed to do that. On Android there is a setting 'Complete dark mode' that puts the LEDs off, so the device supports it.

Disappointing start now rectified.

I have an iPhone 13 mini because it fits in my pocket. However, it ceased production some time ago so I want the battery to last as long as possible. Chargie C Basic was the obvious choice.

It took over one month to arrive and for another month it didn’t work at all - either on my iPhone or on an android phone. It simply failed to shut off the power. Emails to the company were ignored. I lost patience and put it aside.

At the beginning of July, I was on the verge of taking it further through my credit card company but decided to give it one more try. I re-downloaded the app, which was noticeably different to, and better than, the version which was available when the device arrived. Guess what? It works.

The low rating is for the overall experience. For the product as it now stands, I give it 4.5.

(The current iPhone app version is v2.0.1.)

UPDATE 29th August:

After the disappointing start in July when I awarded two stars, described above, the device is now working perfectly. The original software appeared to be the problem.

Assuming this is now typical, I can fully recommend.

Hello, we appreciate your feedback. Indeed the apps, because we started to upgrade them at the same time, were unpublishable, but now they work well for every device since Chargie Founder Edition to the latest Chargie for Laptops. We would also appreciate it if you gave a rating to what you purchased. Every company has its mishaps but they’re corrected. We are deeply sorry about the initial experience.

Unresponsive Customer Service and Untrackable Shipping Number - Is This Company a Scam?

I purchased a Chargie A Gold Edition Double Pack on June 14, 2025, and received an order confirmation email with Order #168393 for what appeared to be a successful transaction.

However, when I attempted to verify this order on the company's official website for three consecutive days, I encountered only an error message: "[wpcode id="153496″]" and was unable to track my order.

I then sent an email, the official customer service address, requesting order confirmation and shipping date information. Despite waiting five days, I have not received any response.

On June 20th, I received an email indicating that shipping had commenced, but the tracking information provided by the company contained only a tracking number without any shipping carrier details. Even after two additional days, this tracking number remains untraceable.

On June 22nd, I sent another follow-up email to official customer service address for requesting clarification on my previous inquiry and verification of the tracking number, but I have yet to receive any response.

The tracking number provided by the company is as follows:
17009P****

I consulted with GPT regarding this tracking number and was informed that it does not match the standard format for legitimate tracking numbers. I have also been unable to track this number through reputable tracking services such as 17track.

Is this company scam?

Honestly, if there had been even a single response to my order inquiry, I would not have gone as far as leaving this review.
Or if I had at least been able to track the shipment using the tracking number provided by this company, I would not have written a review like this (after all, as long as I receive the item safely, that's all that matters).

**July 10, 2025 (Review Update)**
I filed a full refund request with PayPal due to the seller's disappointing lack of responsiveness (no replies to my inquiries), and my dispute was immediately accepted, resulting in an instant refund.

I hope the seller will make an effort to pay more attention to customer service in the future.

well I would have never believed these review until the two Chargie USB C dongles I had ordered in the last 6 months failed!
Then I emailed on the 18th this month April 2024 the addresses given on their website , no reply!

So I'm here to add my voice to the rest, hoping for some action from them.

P.S. You said you didn't receive my email to lab at chargie.org but Outlook doesn't say my email failed to you on 18th April 2024. The premise is great

The premise is great. The device extends the life of your mobile battery and reduces E-waste, which is all great.

When I first purchased maybe one year ago, their website offered Chargie A and Chargie C, with no clear distinction between the two. The photo however said that the "C" version was for mobile phones, so that's what I purchased. As it turns out the unit has a USB C output, but most people's cable and chargers are USB A to USB C.

In the beginning the company was very responsive/receptive to my emails and questions. When I discussed returning this and getting the other version they did not want to take it back and suggested they would send me the proper cable free of charge to which I agreed. This unfortunately was the last I heard from them and I ultimately had to purchase the cable on my own (USB-A to USB-A)

The app is ok, and includes many features for special use cases that I never use. You can customize at what charge percentage your phone will stop charging. As it turns out there is a battery saver function on my Samsung phone that stops charging at 85%, making the device unnecessary.

My issues are
1: The website was unclear about the different versions. They said they would fix the website and the did add a part which explains the inputs and outputs of each device, but the confusing part that misled me is still there.
2: The were going to send me the proper cable to use the device instead of returning/exchanging, but they then stopped communication.
3: My device seems to only work about 50% of the time now. The device will appear to be receiving power, but my phone does not recognize it is being charged. When It does this I have to unplug and re-plug the device.
4: I hate when there is a full price listed that is not actually the full price ($40) and then pretend you are getting a great deal on sale.

To the company's credit, I think that many of these less than favorable reviews are more likely user error than device error. I would consider purchasing again if the price was more reasonable, say $14.99 instead of the $28 that I spent originally.

Bought 3, two have stopped working

I bought 3. Two of them can no longer be identified by the app so are useless. Have mislaid the third but can't be bothered to search for it because it will probably work for a few months and then stop like the others. Built in obsolescence? Big disappointment.

Works half the time

Works half the time. And the other half, it either charges my phone 100% like it's not plugged in at all, or doesn't charge and I wake up to a dead phone in the morning. Now they are ghosting me since I used the refund word. Basically threw my money in the toilet.

1/7/24 Update: More than 3 months later, they finally reliped to this review: "I'm sure this was fixed since October, because we updated the app a lot since it had to be aligned with Google's new security policies."
I can't reply to their reply so I'll update this post. Their reply is FALSE! It's no better. No improvements. Still garbage, so you can add lying and denial to thelr list.

PLUS, they are still ghosting me about a refund and not addressing that issue here, so you can count on that same treatment as well.

Chargie is no longer needed !

Chargie is no longer needed !! Has become superfluous! With Android 12 you can set the phone to limit the charge to 85%! The biggest disadvantage is that the loading time doubles!

Your phone will go to 85% in a row (45 mins) and will stay there the entire time you keep it plugged, which is not an optimal charging scenario. Chargie schedules the charging process and you can pick the amount you want charged when you want it. Unless you're tired of pampering your battery, that is.

Bad to non-existant customer support. Device not working as expected.

At first I was impressed to have found a device that can stop my phone from constantly charging to 100%. But when I tested the different Chargie USB A and C models especially in my car (where the use of the Chargie is most important), I found the adapters not to work as expected, either the charge limiter was not found and unable to connect to it, or connection was successfull but there was a constant disconnection. Also in newer type cars with Carplay, the connection to the car gets interrupted once the charge has hit 80%. This is not really very clever as this is exactly the time I need this charging limiter to work, when constantly plugged into my car... Numerous contact requests to Chargie have been unanswered until now.

We are sorry for now answering to your email in a timely manner. Many emails go to our Spam folder sometimes because they either have long subject lines or have been flagged by 3rd party spam systems. Passthrough data mode now works well with the new app and Apple does not support resuming the power transfer until you cut it off completely first, which interrupts the Carplay link. That is why we left this function out on iOS on purpose for now.

1 out of 3 works, no response from company

I received 3 chargie 'c' units some months back (not sure of exact date). Installed same software on my Samsung xcover6 pro, also on a different Android phone, as well Samsung tablet. The software did not recognize the chargie device on the tablet, or the other Android phone. I swapped around all devices and cables. Only the blue device worked as advertised, only on my xcover6 pro, none of the other 2 units worked on any device. Reported this to company, no response. Samsung xcover 6 pro is the only smartphone I found that is both water resistant and tough enough for my use. Replacement batteries are around $20. So, while the blue chargie unit does work on that phone, replacement batteries are cheaper! So, it seems Chargie's claim of the the software being the issue seems bogus; since only one device, using the same software, yet doesn't work on the other chargie units. I guess I'm an uncompensated Beta tester!

All Chargie devices have a 2-year warranty. Mistakes can happen. It's more practical to write an email requesting a replacement than having your public review read after almost one year. We can only test some of the app portions on real life phones due to the variable nature of Android's hardware.

This works well

This works well, on ios anyway. Did take ages to arrive but current postal and Customs problems may account for that. Customer service and tracking poor. But if it saves my batteries from further 100% charges it is bearable!

Hello, maybe there has been a mistake from our side in your case, but if we receive the product we issue a refund. Your refund was processed by us, because you opened up the case before the return package arrived. We waited and when we got it, processed it via the PayPal case you had already opened.
