Char-griller used to be a great…

Char-griller used to be a great company. I have had their model 5050 dual cookers (2) for over 15 years and never had a problem getting great service until now.
I recently ordered replacement parts and was greatly disappointed in several aspects. Firstly, the company took my payment immediately and showed the items were in stock and shipment was scheduled for the same day. 10 days later and still no items shipped! Secondly, I tried to contact them via their "chat" system and was answered by an AI message that only says my order hasn't been filled yet. Thirdly, since this wasn't working I tried contacting them some other way and found out that there is no other way.
Long story short... They take your order and your payment but there is absolutely no customer service should a problem occur or an inquiry be necessary.
"Caveat Emptor".. "Let the buyer beware" seems to be their new customer service motto. So sad to see a good company turn bad.

Absolute terrible customer service

Absolute terrible customer service. I have one of there Grills and it has been a great grill other than a few issues. I decided to order my Son one for his birthday and going on week two no shipping information other than label created. They do not have a actual phone number to call, instead you have to send in an email. They say they will contact you within 10 minutes during normal business hour. It has been almost a week.

I ordered a seal for my large Akorn…

I ordered a seal for my large Akorn grill on their website and they sent me a small seal. When I called them and told them of their mistake they said they no longer sold the larger seals. They made no apologies. So we were out $14.99 for the shipping and we wont send it back because it only cost $12.99 but cost us $14.99 to ship it back due to the fact they will not cover the cost.
I am highly irritated with them. Now I have to purchase a new grill because they no longer sell the seal I need. I can guarantee it will not be from them. They lost my business over a $12 part.

Grill cover came with holes in it

Grill cover came with holes in it. I returned it and advised that I found one without holes in it. They sent me another cover that I returned with the explanation that I had already replaced it. They sent me the form for a refund but never sent it. I have emailed them with no response from them. Now they have the cover with the holes, the one without the holes, and my money.

Absolutely shocking customer service

Absolutely shocking customer service, we purchased an Flat Iron Griller end of July 2025. Griller arrived with missing parts preventing me from using said Griller. Filed a complaint through their customer service link. Took a week for an acknowledgement, a further two weeks to be advised they dont have the parts and told they wouldn't be able to do anything until November 2025.

This company sucks ass! Don't buy one

I have been emailing and trying to get help for my grill for almost 3 months now. This company is shit! Buy a grill from them if you have money to burn literally. I'm so upset and nobody is helping me. Don't do it!

Terrible customer service - parts

Terrible customer service, we purchased a wrangler but was missing parts, opened a request as per the warrenty on the 21st may and heard nothing since. Chased twice via facebook page but nothing. Looking back should have returned to Argos and got a replacement, much easier given we still have a bbq we cannot use. A company is only as good as how they deal with a problem, avoid.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced

I ordered a grill on 4/26. I received a shipping confirmation on 5/7. The tracking for the grill has been stuck on FedEx waiting to receive the shipment. It is now 6/3. I have contacted Char-Griller by their awful contact form multiple times with no answers or care to address my issue. It should already be a red flag when a company doesn't provide a customer service line to call and actually get answers. To tell me they shipped my grill, when it is clear they haven't, and not do a thing for weeks to fix the issue is terrible business practice. Scam company. They don't care about their reputation with customers. Took my money and I have no grill for over a month. Not even getting the grill will change my mind on this company. If this is how they do business, I will never give them another cent and will warn those I know to avoid them.

Ok but

I will only rate it 3 stars, so far I like the grill but it had 44 pieces to put it together and they ate not numbered. Only pictures and not the good at showing where some parts go. Was missing nuts, bolts, and washers. Other then that we like the grill, it's a combo grill.

The grill was pretty good until it…

The grill was pretty good until it wasn’t. The bottom half of the kettle, which holds the support for the ash can, totally rusted out as did the fire chamber. After five sets of email requests and responses, I still was not able to determine what I needed to order so I could refurbish the grill. They sent me links to view images that when I tried to view, said “images not available”. This went on without any resolution for a few weeks then I received an email from a customer service rep that said the case was completed. They do not have a phone number to discuss needs or obtain clarifications. It seems they’d just rather not deal with problems with their product which is a poor business practice.

Awful I was sent a burnt kebab chips…

Awful I was sent a burnt kebab chips and burger.
They refused to return and re deliver and also my money.
Stater after a free delivery but kept putting dyer on so I couldn’t hear them.

I called off my friends mobile and the answered,
Horrible company and don’t use!

No salads or pittas eithe!

Expensive thieves that build cheap china junk

My wife bought me an acorn mini. There customer service sold her a cover that's for the large 1 screwing us because we found out in spring as it was a Christmas gift. Then put it together and you have to be 1.5 feet tall to use it. Wait gets better. Used it oiled the grill which by the way is steel not cast to find out a few days later was solid rust do to morning dew. wait gets better. So I used it twice small fires and on the third use it has rained and the ash collection pan in a sealed grill full of gross washer and ash. Again after cleaning grill had rust in chunks coming off. Now this grill was not cheap. So gets better we cover with a bag still rusts and fills with water do not ask me how no holes in bag. Then we order the right cover 20 bucks after we lost 48 because there company screwed us. The 20 dollar cover used ash in it. Slides over no draw string first breeze we got flys off. This company is a broke seller sell stuff to come back and get money from you. They build failure in to there junk on purpose. So out 225 bucks plus pizza stone 30 buck witch makes a 6 inch pizza when could have bought a Weber charcoal grill for a 3rd the cost.. 1last thing in order to connect to customer service set up an account next day my email spammed by them and 3rd party scammer. Stay away junk junk junk. Ripe off artists. Based on reviews lot agree

Brilliant little grill

I've had many charcoal BBQ's and always thought they're a pain in the back side, however, I recently bought a Char-Griller Akorn, it cost a mere £169 UK pounds and wow, if only I'd seen these before, maybe I wouldn't of spent £1700 on a gas BBQ, as good as it is.
From day one I opened the box expecting nothing much, but this thing is fantastic, some assembly to do, but, if you can't do that, you shouldn't be using the grill😁.
This is the first charcoal grill I've had that you can really control, and when your done, shut the vents down and it will save the fuel for next time, absolutely the most efficient on charcoal, so your running costs end up paying for the grill over time.
When I'm done I shut the vents leave it an hour and put it away, no smoke, it just goes out.
Have not found a fault with this yet and I'm an experienced griller.
To sum up:
Coatings are a high quality on the outside
Coatings are high quality ceramic on the inside
Efficient on charcoal use
Very controllable on the temperature

What more can you ask for, and they do a bigger version of it, but I would rather have 2 of these for different temperature zones, hey, cheap enough.

All the stuff about customer service, I can't comment on that as seems like it's for other grills, you have to be fair, too easy to dis a company these days and, BBQ companies say "don't leave outside" heat hardened metal and water don't work well together 🤪.

Hope this is a useful review from a practical point of view.

Customer Service has Bankers Hours

I purchased a 4 burner 36" Char Griller Flat Iron Griddle (Model 8036) from Menards in Apple Valley Minnesota on a Saturday morning. I took it home and struggled to assemble it. The directions do say that it takes 2 people to assemble.
Once it was together, I began to season the steel cook top. I immediately had issues with the 1st & 2nd burners being difficult to light and burning unevenly. On Sunday evening, I attempted to heat the griddle to make dinner and the 2nd burner continued its uneven burning. The propane leak got worse, a small fire started just behind the control knob, so I turned it off, put out the fire and disconnected the propane tank. I then returned the griddle where I purchased it.
I submitted a request for support on Sunday morning and on Monday I got an email reply acknowledging my request and explaining that they were "VERY BUSY". Their schedule for Monday was already booked. I am not surprised. They only work through email, they only work bankers' hours, and I am sure there are a lot of complaints about their poorly made imported product. I found a web site that directs you to only American made products. Buy American made products.
