Highly Recommend

They messaged me out of the blue, and I am normally sceptical about companies reaching out like this, but I checked their reviews and they were all positive, so I agreed to work with them to get a stamp duty refund. They were professional throughout, and were able to organise a decent refund, which I received in a couple of months. I would highly recommend their services

We had a fantastic experience with…

We had a fantastic experience with Stamp Tax from start to finish. The whole process was incredibly smooth, professional and far easier than we expected. The team took the time to clearly explain everything, which immediately gave me confidence, and they handled the entire process on my behalf with minimal input needed from me.

We were kept updated throughout and always knew exactly where things were.

The result exceeded expectations, and the turnaround was efficient with everything delivered as promised. It genuinely felt like a stress-free process, which is rare when dealing with anything tax-related.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Stamp Tax to anyone.

Stamp Duty reclaimed (HMRC)

I was quite sceptical in the beginning about the services offered, but decided to go ahead with it in the end.
Stamp Duty Advisory Services were brilliant from start to finish.
Carlos dealt with our case and managed to get a substantial refund for us from HMRC in a very quick time.
The refund helped tremendously with our house purchase going towards refurbishment.
Can't thank you enough to Carlos & his team for their invaluable services.

If only all companies worked like this. 5 STARS

From day one when we revived the initial contact via a letter. I made contact with Carly who run me though the system, which while I did have reservations my mind was soon put as ease. We moved matter forward with a video call and various documents were required from our solicitor. The forms were filled and signed, we were given an indication that the funds would be with us in about 6 to 8 weeks. are funds arrived last week on time. I suppose the question should be would you use this company again, then that would be a big yes.
Thank you to all the team.

I had an excellent experience with the StampTax

I had an excellent experience with the team at StampTax / ChartedTax. Without the letter they sent through the post, I would honestly never have known about this issue, so I am incredibly grateful that they reached out and brought it to my attention.

From the very beginning they handled the whole process with a high level of professionalism and care. They took the matter seriously, explained everything clearly, and ensured the process was managed smoothly from start to finish.

A special thank you to Carlos, who was particularly helpful throughout. He was responsive, knowledgeable, and made what could have been a complicated process feel straightforward and well organised.

I’m very grateful for the team’s diligence and professionalism and would highly recommend their services to anyone needing help in this area.

Stamp duty refund service, fast and reliable.

Was very professional service from start to finish. This company was recommended to me by a friend.

I currently can’t fault the service that was provided. The team were very patient and even helped with getting correct documents from my solicitor.

Everyone clearly have been doing this for a while and know what they are doing.

I have a short 9 month period where the tax refund may get a question from HMRC however the company will be dealing with any enquiry so puts you at ease in case of any future questions.

Would highly recommend if you had a big house purchase recently and paid large stamp duty sum.

Effortless and genuine

Effortless and genuine! Initially, we received correspondence from Stamp Duty Advisory Services and were unsure about their offerings. After conducting some research, we chose to proceed, and the process was unbelievably straightforward. We received £1,600 back, which we're now using to buy a new sofa. Overall, the experience was outstanding, and we've already suggested them to our friends and family.

Headline: Warning: HMRC ‘Process Now, Check Later’ Risks

I received a letter from Stamp Duty Advisory Services claiming I have probably paid too much Stamp Duty. Before you sign anything, please speak to your own solicitor first.
According to the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT), homeowners should be aware of these facts before signing:

HMRC System: HMRC operates a ‘process now, check later’ system. A refund payment is not confirmation that HMRC has agreed the claim is valid.

Homeowner Liability: HMRC can audit claims later. If a claim is found to be incorrect, the homeowner is legally liable to pay back the full tax, plus interest and potentially penalties.

The Fee Risk: Agents typically charge a percentage fee. If HMRC later reclaims the money, the homeowner still owes 100% to HMRC, meaning they are out of pocket for the agent’s fee.

Free DIY Option: Taxpayers can amend their own returns or claim refunds directly from HMRC for free, without paying a third-party fee.

Advice: The CIOT recommends checking with your original solicitor or a tax adviser who is a member of a professional body (like CIOT or ATT) before proceeding with high-risk claims.

Thank you for taking the time to share your views.

However, we would like to clarify a few important points for readers.

Firstly, this reviewer has never used our services. The comments appear to be general observations rather than feedback based on direct experience with Stamp Duty Advisory Services.

We fully appreciate that homeowners should carry out due diligence before engaging any firm. In fact, we actively encourage clients to seek independent advice if they wish and to review our detailed Terms & Conditions before proceeding.

To address the key concerns raised:

HMRC “process now, check later”
It is correct that HMRC may review claims after issuing a refund. This is standard practice across many tax areas and is not specific to SDLT reclaim firms.

Client protection & financial risk
Our Terms & Conditions clearly state that:

Clients are not left out of pocket for our fee if HMRC later requests repayment.

If any part of a claim is overturned, we refund our fee in proportion to the amount HMRC reclaims.

We also cover any interest, fines, or penalties charged by HMRC in relation to the claim, as set out in our agreement.

This means clients are not exposed to the “fee risk” described in the review.

DIY claims
It is absolutely true that individuals may approach HMRC directly. However, SDLT legislation is complex, and many homeowners prefer professional representation to ensure claims are prepared correctly and robustly.

We operate transparently, provide written agreements before engagement, and stand behind the work we submit.

If the reviewer would like to discuss their concerns directly, we would be happy to do so.

So easy and legit!

So easy and legit! We got a letter from Stamp Duty Advisory Services and at first we didn't know what they offered but I did some research and decided to go ahead, and couldn't have been easier and more simple, we got back £1,6K which we're putting towards a new sofa. So all in all is fantastic, we've recommended them to our friends and family.
