I received a letter from Carlos and almost dismissed it but thought I'd check on Trust Pilot and the reviews were all 5 stars. So, a quick video call walk through the house followed and a few weeks later, a Stamp Duty refund of over £2,500. The whole process was very straightforward, very professional and very quick. Plus a great result - stamp duty is such a ridiculous tax, so it is extra sweet to get some of it back from the grasp of HMRC. Huge thanks to the whole team.

We received a letter from Stamp Duty Advisory Services a few weeks after buying our new home, and to be honest, we were very suspicious at first. The idea that we’d overpaid stamp duty sounded far too good to be true. Even our accountant was doubtful!

But after reading other Trustpilot reviews and then speaking with Carly (who was extremely helpful and patient while we asked a LOT of questions), we decided to go ahead. We’re so glad we did.

The whole process couldn’t have been simpler: one virtual tour of our home, a couple of forms to sign, and sending over some documents from our house purchase — that was it. A few weeks later, money landed in our account with very little effort on our part. It was a lovely, unexpected bonus after the expense of moving house, and we honestly can’t recommend SDAS highly enough.

This was an extremely painless and swift process that resulted in a nearly £6k stamp duty refund, which we had no idea was available to us! Like everyone else, I assumed SDLT was paid wholly on the agreed purchase price of the property and had no idea that certain fixtures and fittings were exempt. Carlos and his team were brilliant! My family was doubtful, as none of us had heard that you could claim a refund of Stamp Duty paid on fittings (because it was never due anyway). But Carlos explained it all so clearly and professionally. And I had nothing to lose as they operate on No Win No Fee.
I thought I had listed all the fittings left by the previous owners in the house which would attract a refund. But because Carlos' team is so experienced (and their service fully approved by HMRC), they found and listed so much more. It was all remotely videoed and photographed on I think What's App so it was no effort for me.
I was shocked that the refund was about £11,000 from HMRC - simply because buyers do not have to pay stamp duty on fittings. So I happily paid the 25% fee and still ended up with about £8,000. Wow! Carlos paid me immediately HMRC sent the refund, about 6 weeks after we started. So end to end a fantastic experience. Thank you very much.

I was surprised when Carlos' letter landed on our doormat 3 months ago - offering to recover for us thousands of pounds of apparently overpaid stamp duty in the purchase of our new home 9 months previously. After a couple of phone calls, a video tour of our house, and a little bit of paperwork, we received over £5,000 this week. Wonderful!

Straightforward honest service, completed in good time with good communication

Their experience in understanding what forms part of the property purchase, and what is not is really useful. I had an idea on some items but not others. Further, their ability to value the items not forming part of the purchase was also useful. could not have done that and the HMRC would likely have questioned any valuations I put forward. They really took the headache out of making the claim for which I am grateful.

I have just received my refunds (7k) from a claim. Whole process took about 6-7 weeks.it was very easy and swift. Communication was very good throughout. I received a letter in the post - I almost through it away, as I had an element of doubt that it was one of these dogey companies, but it looks completely legit. I have to wait about 7 months to see if the claim goes through fully. Stamp duty refunds will support and refund if the claim amount changes in that time. I will put the funds aside until this timeframe has elapsed. If you are in doubt, you have 12 months from when you move in to claim your money back against HMRC. I would not have known about this and very likely missed out. Do not hesitate if there’s doubt. Only thing I’d say is I’m not sure if there’s any other companies that do this, I didn’t research this but I am glad with the amount I received.
