Successful Sale of my Classic Car
The organisation of the auction was first class, as was the friendly, efficient attitude of the staff. The whole process was trouble-free (for me!) and enjoyable. Many thanks.
The staff were all pleasant and helpful.
The staff were all pleasant, polite and helpful when I went to their latest Classic Car Auction. I placed a post auction bid on a car that had not sold, which the auctioneer happily accepted. They put the bid to the vendor and it was accepted without too much delay. my thanks to the team.
Friendly, helpful and efficient
Having received a probate valuation from Charterhouse, I had to clear out my late mother's flat, with some things going to auction, others to clearance. All my communications were really positive and helpful, and the three 'boys' who came to empty the flat were fast, efficient and totally professional. I'd worried about my mother's stair lift getting in the way but nothing seemed to faze them, and they made what could have been a difficult day so much easier.

I had a very positive experience with Charterhouse Auctioneers. I had the massive task of auctioning my Fathers large Classic Car collection and Motorbikes, along with many Tools, Automobilia and Car Parts. Richard and his team were highly organised, efficient, helpful and courteous. They went above and beyond to organise, price and arrange collection and identify parts and were professional throughout. We made what was expected and everything was collected in good time. They made the whole experience easy and I felt I could trust them and their expertise. Very Happy!
Great Experience
Richard was very helpful and knowledgeable, and the collection was carefully completed by a very friendly chap!
Would definitely recommend their service!

Unprofessional, poor communications.
Consigned a number of items to a Pictures, Books & Decorative Arts sale. The pre-sale advice when received contained errors and omissions in the lot descriptions. Three emails asking for corrections were unacknowledged. I had no option other than to withdraw all lots.

All of the Charterhouse team have been wonderful. I have been using their services for just over a year now. My Mother had some jewellery consigned to one of their auctions when she sadly passed away. They were very compassionate, supportive and understanding towards us as a family at a very difficult time.
Later my Father wanted to auction a couple of motorcycles and classic cars. Again Charterhouse did a wonderful job of organising everything. I am lasting power of attorney for my father and live 180 miles away from him. Everything went well from arranging to view the vehicles, collection, the auction day itself and afterwards. I was very impressed with the marketing of the vehicles in the press and online platforms. The classic cars went over their reserves. Communication from Richard Bromell and the team was excellent, answering all my queries, keeping me up to date with progress and responding quickly to my calls and emails.

Great experience
We had a very positive experience selling motorcycles and motorcycle accessories with Charterhouse auctioneers. The whole team were very friendly, helpful, efficient and professional. They showed a love of bikes which was also appreciated.

Bid&Box not recommended by Charterhouse
Bid&Box just sent me a broken Jaguar Sign of one thousant Pounds and here Nothing happens.. They told me they didnt had 1,5 meter box and sent the sign wrapped with just bubble plastic and a thin cardboard that was like paper.... what kind of professional people are both , the Auction House and the delivery company ? In my opinion, absolutely no idea of what they're working with. It was clear the sign was not going to survive this way.... it was so difficult to find a wood board to fit it to the back ? It is clear you didnt find another job than to send items wrapped in plastic, but even you're doing this in the wrong way. Chaterhouse, the last time I buy to you. I had another problem with a Jaguar letter from you in the past. Bid&Box, never again. I'll advise my friends in Dorset not to use your services again. By the way, they wanted to refund 50 pounds for the damage.... are you joking or what ? Better do your work as it should be done..... before to clise your bussiness. I don't want your money, I want my sign back as it was purchased. Thanks for NOTHING, you're a COMPLETE DISASTER.

Classic Car Auction
I found Charterhouse to be a very friendly and professional company to deal with.
Richard travelled to Verwood to view a vintage car and a classic car which required valuation for probate. Following a thorough assessment of the cars he promptly sent a formal probate valuation document.
I did not hesitate to enter the cars in the Charterhouse Classic Car auction. They arranged collection and storage of the cars and the associated spare parts; all was handled very expertly.
The auction, held at the Haynes Motor Museum, was well attended. The auction process was very slick and handled professionally by Richard and his team, it was an enjoyable day out. Both cars sold close to Richard’s original probate valuation.
Great people to work with, I would recommend using Charterhouse.
I consigned a charity lot for auction…
I consigned a charity lot for auction for 2nd of april . A classic jaguar XK140 pedal car . Charterhouse and the staff made this experience so easy. From dropping the car off to the sale total professionalism from Richard and all his staff.I cannot reccomend them highly enough.
Stinky books with severe foxing, worst than a charity shop
The books that I purchased for £240 were all stinky and with severe foxing to the pages. This is incredibly unprofessional and it shows lack of respect for the clients. Such books are not just in used condition, they have been kept in a humid environment and not even a charity shop would sell them.
I had to throw all of them in the bid and I lost all my money.

A wonderful decluttering service for those who need to downsize
I needed to downsize my home from 2400sq.ft to 698sq.ft. which required a lot of decluttering. Richard Bromwell if Charterhouse Auctions was the epitome of supportive calm when he reviewed the problem. Completion dates kep being delayed but he never wavered. His team would be ready when I needed them Dave, Dan and Chris arrived on time the first morning without a single raised eyebrow. After two days the contents of my home, garage and outbuildings were cleared wonderfully. My family helped by labelling items, drawers and cupboards that had to go and the whole exercise was completed in a professional manner. I cannot recommend Charterhouse Auctions and their decluttering service too highly. It made a difficult move so much easier.

Charterhouse work really hard to take care of their customers
Our charity, Two Wheels for Life, asked Charterhouse Auctioneers and Valuers if they would auction a MotoGP paddock scooter to raise money for our work in Africa. Their help was amazing. From the catalogue photo and description, their care and transport of the vehicle and their kindness and generosity on the day. The auction itself was great fun and everyone worked hard to make the most for each and every item on sale. Thank you to everyone. I would recommend it highly.
I spent the whole day
I spent the whole day, from when the doors opened at 9.00 a.m. till after 8 p.m., for the auction of the most detailed and endearing artworks by the late Graham Oakley. A mammoth task of over 750 lots, from which the proceeds were to be donated, by Mr.Oakley’s estate, to the charity, “Save the Children”.
Working in “shifts” the auctioneers and the Charterhouse team maintained a constant high level of professionalism and integrity, also making the day a pure pleasure by their unceasing energy, enthusiasm and spontaneous wit, combined with their hospitality and regular offers of tea and coffee, which were gratefully received and appreciated.
Even after such a demanding day (and evening) my successful bids were accurately collated and paperwork completed, thereby allowing me to return home with my “treasures” the same night.
Thank you all at Charterhouse for a wonderfully unforgettable experience.

This saleroom is totally inaccessible for a wheelchair or someone with limited mobility. It is such a shame as I was looking forward to viewing some lots. If you are in a wheelchair don’t waste your journey. There are no disabled toilets and toilets are situated down four steps.

I decided to donate my very nice Jaguar…
I decided to donate my very nice Jaguar XK8 convertible to my local Air Ambulance Trust. Charterhouse made the arrangements to provide the car for auction. They collected the car as planned, provided a very accurate description of the vehicle for prospective buyers and produced the car for auction at the Haynes Motor museum. Their very professional service culminated in a very good result at auction. Well done Charterhouse.
A Sale that Exceeded all Expectations!
I cannot speak highly enough of the remarkable service I have had from Charterhouse recently - the result of the sale of an art print exceeded all expectations!
First - some context. The print did not belong to me, but I was asked to be executor for a neighbour's will and, because she was an ardent environmentalist, she had left the print as a legacy for the World Wildlife Fund.
The print was by the eminent French artist, Pierre Soulages - nearly 103 and still painting! - and I was hugely impressed when Charterhouse set a guide price of £6000 - £8000. Such a generous bequest I thought.....as indeed it was.
But the marketing carried out by Charterhouse was so targeted and effective that many people internationally were alerted to the sale.
I attended in person and you can imagine my excitement as the brisk bidding kept climbing and climbing - bids arriving on several different telephone lines - until they reached a staggering £22000! It was heart-warming that Richard and the other staff clearly shared my excitement!
Not only that but, because the sale was for a charitable cause, and a particularly good one, I had the cheek to ask Charterhouse if they would consider reducing their commission fee. Since it is usually 25% I thought there was a chance that they might reduce it by 5 or even 10%........
Imagine my astonishment when a return phone-call informed me that, on this occasion, they would not charge any commission at all!
How generous is that? They truly deserve a medal!
I'm so pleased for the WWF - and for the honour done to the memory of my neighbour, Eva Bron.
100% for such a great job done.
