Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the product, finding it slow, glitchy, and prone to errors like "Image Generation Failed." Customers also frequently reported issues with the service, noting that it often misunderstood questions, provided stale or incorrect information, and failed to save chats. The subscription was a major source of frustration, with many feeling it was a waste of money due to the lack of improvement and the perceived deterioration of the AI's capabilities. Some people were dissatisfied with the artificial intelligence, mentioning that it often did what it wanted, hallucinated facts, and became "dumber and dumber." However, some reviewers also found the AI useful for basic questions, brainstorming, and quick drafts, with a few even stating it changed their lives by providing helpful information.

ChatGPT makes good images, but it is terrible at following prompts, and the "Image Generation Failed" is a common error. I like the coding but that's about it. ChatGPT proved to me that AI will not be... See more

From Powerful Tool to Over-Filtered Liability

I used to be one of ChatGPT’s defenders. I recommended it, argued for it, and genuinely believed in where it was headed. That ended with the latest update—5.4, as far as I can tell.

Now, instead of getting clear, useful answers, I get cautious, over-sanitized lectures followed by responses that are vague, diluted, and often completely ineffective. It feels like the system is more interested in policing tone than actually doing the job.

Worse, it increasingly refuses to complete requests that it used to handle without issue. Not because the tasks are unreasonable, but because the model now defaults to the safest, most restrictive interpretation possible.

What made this tool impressive was its sharpness, its flexibility, its willingness to engage with nuance. That’s gone. In its place is something hesitant, constrained, and frankly far less useful.

I went from actively defending this product to questioning why I’m paying for it at all.

This app ruined my life

I went for a job interview and thought I would practice some interview techniques and things to do to succeed. This app spectacularly messed up, gave me incorrect information to the point I totally humiliated myself on the interview day. I was shown the door so fast and was told I had got it so completely wrong.

I uninstalled this app and will never ever again use it for such means.

GPT5- the panic police

When GPT 4 existed, it was great. Conversations. Understanding of nuance, human psychology, a variety of life decisions.

Enter GPT 5 aka the "JUDGEMENT POLICE". I cannot say one thing or ask one question without it spouting out a bible full of warnings of why not to do whatever (relatively normal) thing I had in mind.

It panics; moralizes, and goes into "worried punitive policing tone" about...

EVERYTHING.

If I wanted my parents .....
....I'd call them.

With more mainstream "information seeking requests" it frequently spouts out pages of info, INCLUDING options that are well off the bell curve (eg have a 1 percent chance of being applicable). Which simply makes it...not helpful....but exhuasting.

For information seeking, GOOGLE is literally better.

OpenAI was onto gold with GPT 4 and after that they massively, massively dropped the ball.

Don't waste your money

Don't waste your money: the paid version is a complete joke. The system lags constantly and the service is non-existent. The GPTs are totally unreliable; they ignore instructions and deviate from the prompt every single time. A frustrating product that simply doesn't deliver. Stay away!

Paid/plus account and yet terrible service

I have paid/plus account and yet I get hang ups and stalls, the desktop app sucks even more. Last couple of days it pops error "Too many requests" and then locks down my account, while I am hardly using it and just submitted a message after 5 minutes, how can this be counted as "Too many requests"? I found contact us page and called 1-800-ChatGPT, and robot talks on the other end but hangs up most of the time or other times just talking non-sense and unhelpful.

Bad stuff

Dude, these people are crooks. I'm not gonna lie to you. OK I mean how in the hell can you build a paid product? That is so bad in quality service OK I'm talking Internet connections. I'm talking loading speeds. I'm talking page updates. I'm talking how the page remembers things I'm talking talking little customer friendly web website or chat interface designs that are not too much for a paid product but these mango chewing potato buffer can't do anything OK the idea is good. OK the idea of a legal board is good but they only serve people who have like pay like $200 a month and I get it you know they want to be the apple off ChatGPT but what they actually need is a big apple in thei OK in their a nut apple that's what I'm talking about. They need a big juicy A in there little tight A.
