Slave labour, abusive staff
I completed a solar installer course with optimum skills with an apparent 2 weeks paid trial followed by a guaranteed interview for a full time job with Crowdhouse at the end of the course.
When the course ended I was given 5 different excuses as to why Crowd house could not attend for an interview.
After more than 1 month of emailing and calling Optimum Skills and Crowdhouse for information on what was happening about the paid trial and interview I recieved an abusive phonecall from Crowdhouse reception and then told my interview was cancelled (because I was wanting to clarify if my "interview" was for a full time job or unpaid labour).
They have a supply of free labour from government funded courses so while customers pay a fortune to have their panels installed by professionals they are really being installed by extremley unqualified people working for free.
On a course with about 20 people the one person that has previously worked as a panel installer with over 10 years experience in roofing recieved abusive phone calls and was refused an interview because they enquired if they were going to be working for free or getting paid for it and if the interview was for a full time job. The other 19 with no experience in solar installation or roofing, (many with no experience in any construction whatsoever), most went and done the 2 week unpaid trial then was sent back to unemployment.
The course is 2 weeks and the trial is 2 weeks 🤔
