Do not rent from this company: Cheap 4x4 Car Hire Uganda

We chose Cheap 4x4 Car Hire Uganda because they offered the most competitive price for a self-drive rental. In Kampala, however, we were given a Toyota from 1995 with only the front-wheel drive working and badly worn brakes. Halfway through the trip, we had the brakes replaced.

Even then, we still felt the rental was reasonably good value for money.

The real problem came after 18 days, when we returned the car. The man who collected it, Mosey, had been given only USD 150 of our USD 300 security deposit by the owner. Mosey acknowledged that this was wrong and apologized for what had happened.

Despite repeated promises that the remaining USD 150 would be refunded, it has never been paid.

My advice is simple: do not rent from this company.
