A simple job (I think it was) done fast, on time minimum of fuss and at a v reasonable price.
A really great job, needed a bit of extra attention which they gave it. FULL support until completion.

I’ve worked with a few very low-budget accountants in the past, and the experience was consistently poor - slow responses, slow delivery, mistakes, and little to no explanation. Switching to CheapAccounting, and specifically to my new accountant Carleton, was a completely different experience.

I have been working with Nicola from CheapAccounting (CA) to prepare and file my limited company accounts for many years. I am consistently impressed with the service, the responsiveness, the integrity (doing what they say they will) and above all the value for money for the services provided. I recommend CA wholeheartedly for anyone who needs accounting services or advice for their small business.

My business is a small side business for me with a variable turnover, so cost control is very important. I moved to CA after my local firm of accountants upset me with extortionate fees for an inferior service, with accounts documents containing rudimentary errors and inaccurate or dismissive advice being provided when these errors were highlighted. Their fees were perhaps four to five times the cost of CA, and in a similar way to another reviewer here, it upset me deeply that I seemed to be funding their fancy offices and expensive cars parked in the car park. I offer 'ethical' IT services, at fair prices, and yet I felt exploited by those offering services to me. They were chancing their luck, and ultimately it didn't work for them, as I took my business elsewhere.

I have always been comfortable preparing my own books, filing VAT and confirmation statements etc., but I value having an accountant prepare the annual statement of accounts and corporation tax return, and they have invested in the relevant software packages to do so and format the documents correctly. Nicola is also comfortable to work with my preferred accounting package; many accountants want you to adopt their favoured system, again often at great expense.

The name "CheapAccounting" might invoke some apprehension for you, as it did initially for me. If I'm not paying much, will I risk low quality advice, not having a single named contact to build a relationship with, or documents produced that I cannot rely on? None of these are concerns you need to fear – the services are cost effective, but you'll always have a professional, friendly and warm welcome and accurate guidance as good as – or, perhaps, even better than – the bigger firms. The firm having featured on BBC Radio 4 and in many trusted publications and venues further re-enforced their trustworthiness for me. Plus, above all else, I'm much happier to be supporting a small business and people who genuinely mean well in building services that reflect well on their industry, rather than inflating profits of greedy firms that should know better. I know there is some central provision via the CA brand too, so this gives me reassurance that there's always someone at CA I can speak with if needed, although that has never been necessary.

I'm very pleased I moved to CA. Keep up the great work!

Having spent years and £1000’s with accountants, I was at my wits end in terms of frustration. The costs were horrendous, the time it took to complete the accounts (despite presenting up to date ‘books’), was well beyond my expectations, and then to top it all, I had to visit them in their fancy offices and park my car next to their rather expensive motors, to be updated on the final year end accounts. Something didn’t sit right with me. I felt as a supplier we gave the best we could to our clients, and offered a value for money service. Why wasn’t I getting the same in return from my suppliers?

Then someone introduced me to Elaine Clark the founder of Cheap Accounting. My interest was piqued by the business name, accountants, cheap? Surely that was a contradiction in itself, was it a con?

Once I met Elaine, it all fell into place and I was more than pleasantly surprised. As well as being at the top of her game in terms of the accounting industry, Elaine was business savvy I had longed for an accountant who would offer good advice – but had always been met with ‘Well that’s up to you’ when asking for guidance. Let’s face it, when most of us set up a business, we don’t know everything about running a business, and guidance, advice and finger pointing in the right direction, all form support many of us need and want.

I became a of Elaine’s in the early years of her business venture, and her team have looked after the financial aspects of all three of my Companies, and done it to a high level, and at an exceptionally reasonable cost for the last 15 years. I have watched the business grow, and I have watched Elaine secure the best people to work alongside her, all of whom have been equally keen and willing to offer that longed for help and support.

Elaine herself, has been involved in correcting at least two major errors from previous accountants, which led to losses for one of my Company’s, and had to be addressed for tax purposes.

Andrea, always at the end of the phone, is swift to respond and answer any questions on the day-to-day accounts, Karen and Lindsay simply removed the pain of payroll (and this last year, furlough payments), away from us, and completely handled the financial side of employing people.

Cheap Accounting’s tax advisors have always given excellent guidance and advice, and Elaine herself is always available when I need to meet to clear my business head, and consider options. Cheap Accounting even provided the solution for registered offices for us.

As I now enter retirement, I want to publicly thank all of you at Cheap Accounting for making my life, and those of my team easy and painless in respect of all things financial.

Cheap Accounting is by far the most reasonably priced and best accountancy firm that I have used. I first joined with John May - who was professional, kind and went above and beyond. When he retired, I moved my accounts to a high-street accountancy firm close to my home. This was a disaster, and they charged me £100s for things that Cheap Accounting do for free!
