Ceiling Fan - Diagnosis
I had a recent service visit for a ceiling fan that stopped working. The technician inspected my circuit breaker panel and removed the plate on the wall switch. After that inspection he refused to continue diagnosing the problem unless I paid either for an annual membership (over $300) or a one‑time diagnostic fee (over $200). I declined, the technician called his manager, and the manager instructed him not to proceed. No fees were charged. The technician apologized that this policy was not disclosed when I scheduled the appointment.
This was unprofessional and felt like a bait‑and‑switch. A diagnostic visit should not turn into a hard sell on the doorstep without clear disclosure up front. I will not use Chesapeake Electric again and I would not recommend them. They were a huge waste of time.
