Loving family

Heyy :)
I used to be an Au Pair in 2022/23 and really enjoyed my experience with Christian Au Pairs. They are really carefull with placements and give you guidelines for the whole interview and adjustment process. I was able to ask questions all the time and answers came quickly. I‘m still in contact with mark and my local agent :) during my time in America I got an amazing support and help in difficult situations (travel issues at the end, not their fault!). I was placed in a lovely truly christian family and was able to enjoy my stay and work, travelled to stunning places all over the us and made new friends from a lot of different cultures. Highly recommend doing a Year as an Au Pair. Especially with Christian Au Pairs, since its so important to be on the same page of values and expectations when it comes to childcare. I was able to connect to current aupairs when I was in the process of becoming one myself. So if there is still any doubt, just ask mark for some au pairs to talk to about your plans and questions :) I‘m sure he’s happy to help you.

Thank you, Amelie. You have been a real blessing to your host families and to other au pairs as you have helped them. You were highly motivated and a great Christian witness.

Amazing

Hi, I’m Kira from Germany, 19 years old and I really love being an au pair! In fact I extended to stay for another year. Although I miss my family and friends in Germany, I thought homesickness would be a bigger issue than it really is. I grow so much here and I especially grew closer to God, more than I’ve ever been before.
When you start a year abroad, a new life, you learn even better that God is always with you, because you leave everything else behind. But with his help, lots of support in prayer and through the local church, I gained so much.
Being an au pair for a Christian family is such a blessing! Thanks to Christian Aupairs I live now with a really nice Christ centered family. My host parents support me in my decisions and we are a really good team in taking care of the kids. I love my 4 host kids, and although being an Aupair can be super exhausting, I would not trade it for anything! My host family and I do lots of cool things, like rock climbing, bike tours, and bonfires with s’mores in the backyard. I have not travelled a lot yet, but I recently went to Florida and met my family there. It was really good to see them again! When I’m not working, I spend lots of time with a small group from church or other Christian au pairs whom I met through the monthly au pair meetings. If you are thinking about becoming an au pair, don’t stop there! Contact Christian Aupair! They support and help you the best they can! Although you are not in contact with Christian Aupairs on a regular basis after you arrived in the US, they (especially Mark) is only one email away and open for every question. There are lots of au pair agencies out there, but as a Christian this one is perfect. Being connected with a Christian family does not just help you to grow in your faith, but it also connects you to a church where it is easier to find good friends. If you are waiting for a sign to do it, here is it!

Matched with a genuine christian family

First of all, I want to say a huge thank you to the Christian Au pairs agency, especially Mark Jeffery. I am blown away of how God led me through Christianaupairs to Philadelphia as an Au pair and blessed me abundantly there. Mark matched me with a genuine christian family. He asked me very good questions during the interview and knew exactly what I am looking for. I really liked that my host family and I had to provide the agency a letter of recommendation from our churches. Through the whole matching phase I felt very at peace and felt safe going to a new country.

I took care of one boy as he was 16 months to 3,5 years old (from June 2021 - June 2023). Thanks to the national interest exemption in the travel ban time, I was able to still come to the US in the midst of the covid lock down. My host family and I got really well along with each other and based on our faith and convictions through the Bible, we had truly no issues during the two years. It was important for both of us to teach the child about God, different bible stories, verses and christian songs. I decided to stay for another year with the same family, because we both enjoyed the blessing of having each other. I grew closer to God at this time and really enjoyed working as an au pair. My local agent met with me each month and checked on how I am doing.

I definitely recommend everyone to choose the Christianaupairs agency and have this exciting adventure in life!

Please be careful with this company

Please be careful with this company. They place an au pair with no follow up. Uk families or the au pairs are not checked (police records etc) and are often worked for many many hours with much less than minimum wage. When my niece decided the role wasn't for her (nothing to do with the family as they were great) the owner of the company, Mark, verbally attacked her with a barrage of abuse stating that she must have ‘mental issues’ and is a failure. She is only 19 and had travelled from NZ on her own which took a lot of courage. Zero support at all from the company (who seems to be a one man band). They state they are the number 1 company for au pairs which is a lie. They profess to be a Christian agency which lead us to believe they would be honourable in their practice. However this was not to be. I wonder if throwing the Christianity title about gives people the impression they are reputable. If this review helps just one person it will be worthwhile as there appears to be no governing body. Anybody could be placed with anyone with no follow up or security which is a scary thought in this day and age.

Reply from Christian au Pairs

It is very unfortunate that this review is written by hearsay by an aunt who does now know us or our organisation. She has never spoken or written to ourselves. But I will do my best to respond fairly to it for the sake of our thousands of satisfied au pairs and host families and our own reputation. To take it in order:

1. We always follow-up au pairs, as I did in the case of this young lady with phone calls an emails.
2. All of our girls sent to the USA have police checks. Uk girls have a reference from a pastor. We have never had any Christian girls with any record of wrong doing ever. Nor have any au pairs ever behaved inappropriately with our host children. They are girls of the highest integrity, which has even been acknowledged to us by our American partners.
3. "They are often worked for many hours'. The girl in question was due to work for 36.25 hours per week, which is the top end of our family
ies' requirements, but not excessive. All our au pairs in the UK and Australia work between 25 and 35 hours per week and are paid according to standard recommendation from the Association of au Pairs. In America all au pairs can work up to 45 hours. Christian au pairs recommends 40 hours.
4. We have a high reputation for the support that we and our partners give to our au pairs and host families. Many people choose us for this very reason. We give a unique and personalised service. Our work is often very pastoral.
5. This young lady expressed to her host family after arriving from New Zealand for two days that she did not think she wanted to be an au pair any more. She left within a week and went to stay with her aunt that she had in England.
6. The word 'failure' is not in my vocabulary.
6. Clearly the lady here does not know our company. In addition to our UK team we have a European team and partners in South Africa and America. We have placed over 4000 Christian au pairs into Christian host families, but we work very personally valuing every individual and relating closely to them.
7. I cannot deny we are the number 1 Christian Agency, which we have been for 33 years.
8. Our integrity is best testified through our church, our friends and family, as is the case for all Christians, as well as the many testimonials through our work.
9. The last emotive sentence whilst totally untrue does not really require a reply.
