Still good, but disappointing model alternatives.

I have long been an admirer of CICAR. I've been renting from them exclusively since 2013. I have probably rented 20 cars in that time across Tenerife, Fuerteventura and G.C.

It used to be the shining light in car rental. And still is in some ways. No hidden fees, no red tape, no b.s.

However, recently, it seems CICAR has gone a little bit downhill. For instance, I have been given a Peugeot 2008 the last two times when both times I reserved a much larger Seat Leon ST estate. This meant a real struggle to fit our baggage in the car and an unhappy wife with bags on her lap in the back and a suitcase on the front seat.

Poor state of cars on Fuerteventura and Lanzarote

We rented two cars : first on Fuerteventura then on Lanzarote. On Fuerteventura they gave us a Peugeot but could not tell us the basic workings of the car. While there were numerous personnel around chit chatting amongst themselves, they said they had too many different types of cars to know them all. Definitely a ‘no es mi trabajo’ attitude. En top of it all, this Peugeot had 83k kms, the left windshield wiper needed replacing and the suspension rattled. A disgrace! On Lanzarote, the car was in a bit better shape but the reservoir for the windshield wipers was empty. Just what one needs in a windy, dusty climate. Poorly run company to be avoided.

Don't recommend Cicar

Unfortunately, my experience did not live up to my expectations.
There was a noticeable delay when recovering the car.
I noticed that the vehicle was not well prepared: there was a lack of product for the windscreen washer, and the windows were dirty, making it dangerous to drive with the sun in the face.
Finally, the unwelcoming attitude of the agent who gave me the keys did not help to improve the situation. I hope that the service can be improved in the future

Great car hire poor customer service

I have been a customer of Cicar for many years and have recommended them to anyone who has told me they are going to the canaries. Unfortunately they have caused me nothing but grief from my last trip to fuertevntura where I accidentally broke my watch strap and the watch was found in the car after I returned it. I have been trying to arrange for it to be picked up as the company policy is they will not post lost property back to customer which I understand but try to arrange a pickup when that have not replied to any emails since Feb 23rd is unacceptable customer service and very very frustrating. Finally a friend of a friend who lives on the island went to pick it up and has been messed about for ages all because they have refused to respond to emails WHY!!

I just returned from Lanzarote and would highly recommend CICAR , as a frequent traveller to the island I can say with certainty they are by far the best hire company .
No Deposit or expensive waivers, fast friendly service at the airport desk .

One of the best rental company. Highly recommended

Hi, checked on website a car from cicar. Small car and cheap, together with fully insurance was 107€ which was unbelievable for me. I didn’t want to be cheated so I didn’t book online but when we arrive to Tenerife we went to the desk and ask if the price is correct online and if it has included insurance. I was surprised to hear that we only have to pay 107€ for 4 days with full insurance and protection. They only charge 9€ deposit for petrol which they refunded after car return. When we return the car they did not even checked for any damaged, they ask about petrol and trust us. Everything went smoothly and staff was extremely kind and nice. In my opinion this is one of the best company I ever rented. Highly recommend to everyone. Very trustable. Thank you Cicar.

Tenerife south car booked.

Tenerife south car booked.
Usually busy but no .
Start to finish there operations are smooth.
Got the i wanted and booked and have used them many times now .
Only anomaly is tenerife charge a deposit for fuel but it is reimbursed.
Very happy with this rental firm as credit card not required and cash is fine.
All hire companies could learn from cicars operations.
Hired for next 3 hols .
Cant wait

A must for car hire.

Been to Tenerife 8 times and always hire from here, as we did for our holiday last week. An excellent, no-nonsense local company. No hard sell, competitive price, and excellent cars and service. Absolutely the best car hire company I have ever used.

When visiting Lanzarote I always use Cicar. No hidden charges. Helpful staff
Never any problems with the cars on pick up or drop off. So I would 💯 recommend Cicar

Booked Cicar vehicle for four weeks in La Gomera, Canary Islands. Easy booking on line and good price. You pay nothing in advance and insurance is included so no faffing about taking pictures etc. Made a small change online which was promptly acknowledged. Car collected within a minute at the ferry port. Used key drop on return. Petrol deposit refunded within 24 hours. Def use again.

I am very satisfied with CICAR's…

I am very satisfied with CICAR's services. I traveled to the Canary Islands in July 2023, spending 4-5 days each on Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and el Hierro. For each I rented a car from CICAR. I had booked in advance but we only pay when the vehicle is picked up. The staff is friendly, professional, efficient and friendly. It is really a company to recommend for renting a vehicle on the Canary Islands.

They rip you off by charging you twice…

They rip you off by charging you twice for the fuel. They tell you car half full, bring it back the same. Which should mean you get the $20 euros back, BUT, they keep it. Robbers in a sly underhand way. I will try another company next time, CICAR are you plain robbers.

The easiest and best car hire ever!

The easiest and best car hire experience we have ever had! The price we paid online was all in - no hard sell for extra insurance or putting £1000 on credit card etc. We collected the keys literally opposite the bag belt and were on our merry way within 5 minutes. Also had a brand new mini-SUV for £20 a day. Drop off was a case of dropping car keys off at the desk. Voila!

I will always hire a car from this…

I will always hire a car from this great company.
Last year was the first time and I was very happy. This March I visited grancan and again they offered good service and an excellent car with no problems on my return, so I booked my car hire in May×2 and in October.2022
My first booking in May I was very pleased I was upgraded and it was a very nice car. I like to say thank you to cicar and it's staff that offers great value for money without any issues.
My advice to anybody is video the car before inside and out. Point out any dents or damage on the video and video the mileage and petrol gauge. Keep your receipt to prove you refilled the car and most importantly video again and make sure you get an member of staff to sign off on your return.
Try to pay this in cash it may be cheaper and harder to claim on silly problems, never pay securtiy deposit on petrol (but cicar have never asked me for this) and don't rush, take your time this will save you loads of problems later and you will have the proof for the future, so I hope everybody have a great holiday.
