They are the worst bank ever. Worst customer service. All they do is transfer you to another representative and keep you on hold.. Unethical and unprofessional and they do not follow regulations.

Do not use Citibank

Do not use Citibank. They are horrible when it comes to resolving disputes and absolutely do not have your back.
You swipe one of their cards, and the merchant decides to screw you over, you cannot trust Citibank to get your money back.

Their mistake, my headache

Made a payment, we already pay off the card in full every month. They decided that they would not process the payment for 10 days, started declining charges, so I called as we were in vacation. Now on the app it said my payment was processed, my bank had it as processed and the funds were gone from my bank account like it has been processed 10 days ago. The first customer service rep could not tell me what the problem was. Kept me on hold for around twenty minutes before I asked for a second supervisory customer service rep to help me. She kept me on hold another 15-20 min and told me I had to go through a long process that finally ended up with me calling my bank to verify that indeed the payment was processed BY CITIBANK 10 days earlier. The two would not tell me why the charges were being declined, they would not admit that it was their internal error, they didn't even apologize for their mistake. All they would say that they were sorry "I was frustrated" in a most condescending tone. Their customer service is not customer centric and in no way could qualify as a service, so i'm not sure why i would even refer to it that way. Needless to say, I'm closing this account and won't do business with them again. Since it's a Costco Visa will also complain to them, wish one could rate a zero.

Horrible customer service and unlawful practices to include “Redlining” based on my ethic background. They closed my credit card account for no reason. My advice is to not walk away from this credit card company, RUN! I plan to pay off the balance and never refer them to anyone in the future.

By far the worst bank for customers

By far the worst bank for customers. They're so clueless. I called about a concern that I haven't received my card as yet and I was told that it is still on the way even though it has been more than 14 days. They could not issue a new card. For a card that was never activated, there was charges being made on it. Unbelievable their customer service is horrible. Avoid this bank for your own protection.

Just awful credit card "fraud"…

Just awful credit card "fraud" protection customer service. Tried to legitimately make a largeish purchase online. Triggered a fraud alert. OK, no big deal. I call them to verify it's me. First rep seems reasonable enough. Ended speaking to two reps because first was one was "having computer issues" but finally get it settled and confirmed to them that it was a false alarm. OK, everything is unlocked. A few hours later, I retry similar transaction and apparently their systems isn't smart enough to learn that one false alarm usually means next one is legit, so same thing happens. I call again but apparently all the answers I give them now magically aren't enough. They start asking uncomfortably specific "verification" questions and I reluctantly answer anyway. These are literally questions that scream phishing questions. After 20+ minutes, still not good enough and now I'm supposed to wait 7-10 days for a physical letter? What is this 1980? What's a letter going to do that couldn't be done with the million other modern ways of verification? How is a piece of unsecured paper through the postal service more secure than pretty much anything else? What a joke.

This massive bank cares nothing for the little people that use their cards

1. Their "service" representatives are almost impossible to understand. 2. They are extremely unhelpful in having any ability to actually assist. They just keep transferring you to another unhelpful person.
3. They make it difficult to pay on your account. They deleted ALL of my payment information from an account I had been using for 15 years and then made me spend 6 days trying to verify and account that they had already been debiting my payment from for 15 years. Then they have the nerve to change me late fees.

Do not trust them - they lie and give you the run around

I opened a CD with Citibank and they took double the money I was using saying it was a computer glitch. It took me over two months and going to the BBB to report them and then finally my own bank to get the one payment back that I did not authorize. They lied and kept giving me the run around about refunding me money that they were not supposed to take. Never again will I deal with this bank

I need someone from Coporate HQ to…

I need someone from Coporate HQ to resolve a situation that has been going on for months. Verizon owed me $65.94 for failure to set up an account and port my phone number. I originally filed a dispute with Citi. Citi wasn't resolving the investigation because Verizon's bank was not responding because I was told they are just a processing center and therefore would not respond. Verizon reps suggested that I wirhdraw the dispute with Citi so they could refund me. So, I did that. But, then Verizon later stated they could not refund me because Citi put their chargeback money into a holding account which they cannot access. Then I tried to reopen the dispute with Citi and was told they cannot reopen it. So, as of now, Citi has my $65.94 owed to me by Verizon and Verizon's $65.94 in chargeback money. The disputes department is refusing to refund me and Verizon. I need and want my money back. I am tired of this situation. I have filed complaints with the BBB, AZ Office of Inspector General and been in touch with Verizon and sending emails to Citi disputes department with no resolution to date. I need Citi to give me my money or Citi to give Verizon their chargeback money currently in a holding account the Citi rep said so Verizon can refund me. I'm beginning to hate Citi too like I do Verizon. It's making me want to payoff my bill and close my accounts with Citi with Best Buy and Citi Double Cash Card. I'm over both Verizon and Citi. I've bern trying to get my money back for months.

I was locked out of my account when i…

I was locked out of my account when i switch phone providers, but kept the same number. When i attempted to login Citi placed an additional one-time verification process that connected me to a call center person. I answered all sorts of questions (from my credit history etc.), but failed when they asked me for my phone number. At no time did Citi alert me why my account was locked, so i assumed it was hacked. When i contacted the cs line on my credit card they informed that this was added security and that it would be unlocked on a certain date. This did not happen on the dates so i called several times (each time a new date was provided when it would be unlocked). 4 days later the account is still locked. All my other banking and financial institutions did not suffer this lock out.

Two experiences

Two experiences. My wife called Citi to let them know about a phshing attempt. She had not given away any information. The Citibank rep did not understand what Zelle waqs and then in her confusion reported to a senior that my wife had exposed her bank account number to a scammer. This was completely incorrect, Then the citi fraud department decided to block her access to her bank accounts. Now we are having to go to our local branch to get this handled. Second thing, today I called in to get a routine question answered. I was asked for the name on our account. I gave the rep the name but she adamantly refused to go further with the call. Maybe because it took a while for me to find my checkbook. All the same completely unnecessdary. Over 20 years a Citi customer it would be nice if the reps understood what accounts are and bhow to handle long term customers.

Do Not Do Business With Citi (R) Cards.

Do Not Do Business With Citi (R) Cards.
i.e. Citi Double Cash (Master Card).
BEWARE Citi (R) Cards is committing fraud with me multiple times and is now trying to commit fraud with the IRS through me.
Citi (R) Cards charged me twice for the sum of $379.73 from LOWES in New Braunfels TX.
I never bought anything from LOWES in New Braunfels TX for $379.73.
I never been to the LOWES store in New Braunfels TX.
I ordered some items from this store on the internet and had the items delivered.
Citi (R) Bank in INDIA’s dispute and resolution department.
Determined I did buy items twice for the separate sum of $379.73 each time.
India’s dispute and resolution department have no evidence of any purchase for the sum of $379.73.
I closed the card in Aug of 2025 after several years (3 or more) of being a perfect customer.
I was never late I paid my statement on time every month in full.
I offered to pay all charges but the fraud charges, interest, and penalties.
I offered to pay $4000.00 but Citi (R) Card refused to accept my offer.
Citi (R) Cards counter offer was $2000.00 this is $2000.00 less than I offered.
Why would Citi (R) Cards do this.
Citi (R) Cards wants to write off $2000.00 in their IRS taxes and put it on the USA tax payers.
Citi (R) Cards wants me to pay the income on the other $2000.00 Citi (R) Cards is writing off.
This is IRS Tax fraud, I have every thing in writing from Citi (R) Cards and all prior e-mails from me.
Showing my offer prior to Citi (r) Cards counter offer.
Now Citi (R) Cards has committed fraud multiple times with me and the IRS.
I’m taking Citi (R) Cards to court.
When filling out the Plaintiff’s Original Petition I require Citi (R) Cards state agent’s contact info.
In-order to have the lawsuit served.
Citi (R) Cards refuses to give me the Texas state agent’s contact info.
Of course I know how to get this info, Secretary of Texas State has this info.
I collected the info to complete the Petition the lawsuit will be filed next week.

Ohio

We have citbank only because Costco uses them . We ha charge to dispute, , over a month trying to fix it . The charge was from an Ohio restaurant. I finally asked a friend of mine who lived in Ohio to go there and talk to the manager, she got it corrected. About a week later , get a notice from Citibank that THEY resolved it . Can’t make this stuff up!

Victimizing the Victim

After allowing tends of thousands of dollars of fraudulent charges to accrue on my credit card (including thousands of dollars of gelato someone purchased in Brazil!) Citibank finally flagged me and of course we closed the account. Citibank then refused to expedite a replacement card for the new account, and further refused even to give me the new account number so I could use it for online purchases. Of course, this was after extensive security confirmation of who I really am. Still a "no" from them. One account rep kept overtalking me and the supervisor was incapable of overriding her system, contacting another department or further escalating my request, saying "at least a new card is on the way". An arrogant, incompetent group, treating the victim as if he is the bad guy undeserving of any consideration. So no credit card until USPS eventually gets it to me by regular mail.

Predatory banking and I'm the big dummy…

Predatory banking and I'm the big dummy that fell for it. Offered 0 percent financing at my local tractor supply and I needed a mower. So I did it. I have a great credit score and dont have one missed payment ever since I was old enough to get loans. Sure, I've been a literal day or two behind on payments, but 99.9 percent of banks offer a grace period of some sort. Citi bank hits ya with a fat $41 "late fee" the second its passed midnight on your due date, which is kind of crazy to me. Its predatory banking at its finest, I'll be paying that mower off early and taking it as a lesson learned.

CITIBANK DOES NOT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH…

CITIBANK DOES NOT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THEIR PROMISES OF FRAUD PROTECTION OR 0% LIABILITY FOR UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES!!!!!!! SCAMMERS AND LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been using citibank for over a decade as my main payment source.
I agreed to pay $500 to a company called SiteOne. That charge went through, 3 weeks later that charge disappeared and I was re-charged $675 by SiteOne. SiteOne even sent them a document with my forged signature on it.
I've sent information to Citibank, called 6 times to explain this, have been patient and polite... trying to figure out what they need.
After hours on the phone, documents sent etc- "there's nothing we can do, the timeframe expired".

I've been reaching out since October and It's mid-January- I've called more than 1x/month to resolve this and suddenly the time is up?

THEY WILL NOT COVER FRAUDULENT CHARGES AS THEY CLAIM ALL OVER THEIR WEBSITE AND COMMERCIALS.

Never again
