Craig and his team completely renovated and transformed our home and we are so happy with the results. It was a large complex project. Craig expertly project managed all aspects and provided constant support and advice throughout the project. We can not compliment him and his team highly enough. Many of our friends have commented on the high quality of the workmanship and have gone on to use Cjsmiths for their own building project which is testament to the company. Happy for people to visit our house and see for themselves!

Had my garden renovation nicely done. Staff are attentive, sincere , efficient and knowledgable . Able to answer all my doubts and able to give constructive advice when facing contingent issues. They also cleaned up the place by the end of the project, no follow up cleaning needed.

One good builder with integrity, knowledge, expertise and efficiency. My next project will certainly call them up.

Assigning Craig to manage our life long dream of creating a big kitchen/living room (90sqm) was one of the best decisions we ever made. We got in touch with Craig 1 year in advance of works commencing and from the get go Craig scheduled an initial meeting to discuss our plans. Leaving the meeting Craig gave us new ideas and put no pressure on signing and was happy to work around us. Having visited several existing projects and received great customer feedback, we knew Craig was the builder for us as the quality of work was just exemplary. Craig saved us 5K by urging us to allow him to project manage the build and true to his word, he was on onsite multiple times per day, making sure everything was perfect. Along the way, we did encounter some problems, due to the existing condition of the garden but Craig always had a plan to work around them and not change designs with little or no change in cost. Craigs team are highly skilled, clean and respectful. They always tidied and locked up at the end of each day which left us worry free. One great trait about Craig; he treats his jobs like his own home and if he’s not happy with it, the project does not move to the next stage. It is no wonder he is respected in St Albans as a 5star builder. We will 100% be onboarding Craig again to do our 2nd story and driveway in the future. A big thankyou to Craig and his excellent team.

I've used C J Smith on several occasions when I've needed Doors. I have to say everytime I find the staff extremely helpful and they give me advice on what's the best products to buy from them. They always deliver the goods punctually at the agreed time and date. I've never had an issue with the quality of the doors I've purchased and I would always recommend C J Smith to anyone who needs Doors because Mike, Richard and the whole team always exceed expectations! I always find a local independent company like C J Smith, always over deliver.

We used CJ Smiths to modernise our lower floor and open our plan the kitchen, dining room and lounge. This required us to put in steel structure to support the house, new heating, moving walls and levelling flooring to install new floors.

1. Being new to the UK and area we were very nervous undertaking this work. We weren’t sure of local building requirements and needs. Craig was great and very patient. He explained what was needed and guided us obtain the relevant permits. He extended his supplier network to us to find supplies at reasonable prices.

2. On the job his team were professional, punctual and friendly. They completed the job on time and to a high standard. Craig was often around to check on the progress.

3. CJ Smiths was reasonably priced and provided great service to match.

Overall we are extremely pleased with the final result of our work and would highly recommend CJ Smiths to anyone else looking to undertake renovation.

We had double story extension built on our semi-detached house. We met with tree building companies and CJ Smith stood out immediately. Craig was very professional and competitive, and the project came in both on time and in budget.

The project was huge and overwhelming and using Craig was the best decision we ever made, Craig was available throughout the entire project, even weekends to provide update and discuss any areas nothing was ever too much trouble.

Craig was patient and provide excellent ideas on how to use the space to benefit the whole family and provide real guidance and was able to translate our ideas and list of wants (some contradictory!) and turned it into a space into our dream home.

We moved out for 5 months and Criag management the entire project management from dealing with our architect, building control and all the various suppliers, we never had to worry the work was not progressing, we were kept up to date regularly, the whole team was superb.

The build itself was pain free, the builders respectful, on time every day, friendly as well as being highly skilled. They worked well with other trades and the attention to detail was superb.

Every step Craig listened and, provided alternatives and accommodated our budget whist ensuring the bigger picture was adhered to.

Craig and his team were fantastic work with they were fun and professional and made this whole journey an absolute pleasure as were great value for money. It was a best decision we ever made, and they will bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and insight to the project and made our ideas come to life. I cannot thank them enough we love our home and am so proud of what achieved together. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending CJ Smith to make your dream home a reality.

We recently used CJ Smiths for an extension and full house renovation. From the first meeting, to completing the project, we found Craig and his team absolutely faultless. The project was on time but for unavoidable weather delays. There were also no surprises from a budget perspective. Anything that required an “extra” or a design change was met with a pragmatic response and always a mutually agreeable way of resolving - refreshing in a world where most things are viewed as a problem. Nothing was too much hassle for the CJ Smiths team, who always went above and beyond to ensure we were kept informed of every small change or decision that needed to be made. We even mildly miss the busy house when everyone was on site. A huge thank you to the entire CJ Smiths team - we are delighted with the end result and would highly recommend them to anyone embarking on a renovation.

We used Craig & his team for our ground floor extension that doubled the size of our downstairs space as well as completing a new patio and front garden wall. We couldn’t be happier with the work and the experience of having this fantastic team working in our home whilst we lived and worked from it!

We found Craig to be incredibly trustworthy and respectful to our needs/budget and was always available if needed.

Craig and his guys completed a garden renovation for us and we love it! The work was done to the highest standards, the guys working were always on time and polite, they made sure they cleaned up after themselves and I genuinely feel like they went above and beyond to make sure we had the garden we dreamt of. I have gone back to craig for a quote on another job we would like to get done because I trust him and his work. I would highly, highly recommend CJ Smiths!

Craig and his team were brilliant throughout our extension, always on hand to discuss options, deliberate issues and help us make good decisions. The team were hard working and very considerate; we didn’t have to move out, fortunately, and Craig always kept us informed of when we were were going to be inconvenienced. Costs have always been on our mind and Craig was very conscious of providing us value for money.

The team did everything; the roof was replaced, back garden landscaped, drainage altered, front garden changed to a driveway, garage built as well as our extension.

Thanks to the whole team, really made the job as low-stressed as possible.

Craig is a great guy with a good team and did a great job overhauling our entire garden, as well as putting in a significant new fence.

I have found him to be a great source of information and advise surrounding new ideas, including potential projects like loft conversions or even entire new builds.

I would have no hesitation in using his firm for any future work.

We had used Craig and his team for small project a few years ago and went back to him when taking on a ground floor rear and side extension in October 2021. He was very competitive on price, so easy to work with and always had time for us and our questions.

His whole team were a pleasure to have on site throughout the build whilst we lived on site. They went above and beyond to ensure we were still comfortable living through the work and kept the place so tidy. There was never a day we didn't have someone working on the project and Craig was onsite every day and if he wasn't able to be, he was always reachable on the phone, but his team were more than capable to assist us in any queries we had. His whole teams standard of work is impeccable.

As the project progressed it ended up being a full house renovation which they were able to accommodate and sorted all the additional trades needed for this.

Craig's invoicing was always clear and concise and updated when any additional work was added (quote remained the same as originally agreed, apart from additional work we asked for) and payments were easy to make.

Craig's close working relationship with building control ensured the project didn't encounter any delays in being signed off at each stage and we are so happy with the final result.

We will be using CJSmiths in the future when undertaking our loft conversion hopefully in the next couple of years!

We chose Craig after meeting 8 other firms. His combination of communication and patience was crucial for us. This was a long and challenging project, made harder by Covid and lockdown and without Craig keeping us calm throughout, and effectively managing the project we would never have got through it. We used Craig for the conversion of our double garage into a home office. It was a pleasure to deal with Craig throughout. His quote was competitive, he guided me through the process of planning and building regulations and remained available for advice throughout the project.

His on-site team were lovely to have around. They explained what was happening each day, kept everywhere tidy and secure and were very thorough in their work.

He managed all tradespeople required for the project from the builders to electricians, bifold door manufacturer, decorators and flooring contractors etc - my involvement was minimal and completely stress free.

The project was delivered on budget and looks absolutely amazing!

We have used Craig and his team for 3 home-renovation projects now, the last of which being July 2022 - we are looking forward to the team completing a 2-storey side extension for us next year.

This is number one for us. They do what they say when they say they will do it and at the price agreed. Additional costs were extras added on / changed by us during the project.

Craig and his team have all been friendly and a pleasure to have in the property. They are polite and respectful and we are comfortable with them (especially as we have young children around).

Work completed by Craig, his team & contractors has been to a high standard and where there has been a snag list, minor issues have been addressed promptly.

Craig is available to us throughout each project by WhatsApp or phone. It helps having a central person to coordinate with all parties.

We’ve used Craig and his team for 4 different projects over a number of years. Basically, we won’t use anyone else and will wait for Craig’s guys to be available.

We’re not the most technically knowledgeable people and tend to approach Craig with a rather vague plan / idea. Craig is able to take that vague plan and flesh it out to something excellent and then deliver that.

All the team are excellent - and a good laugh to boot.
