Hopeless

Sent a genarator to be repaired as no start. Returned stating new carburattor fitted and load tested, running perfectly. Would'nt even produce enough power to run a light bulb. Sent it back, tried to charge me a shipping fee but relented when I pointed out they hadn't fixed it properly. Returned generator saying nothing wrong with it but suspected contaminated fuel and any further work chargable. Generator started, ran for a few seconds and cut out. Changed the plug no better, still cutting out/misfiring when running. Gave uo and scrapped it. Don't belive they did anything to it. Certainly didn't test it like they said they had before returning it. Never buying from them again.

5 star Customer Support

Absolutely brilliant customer support. The Technical Advisor, Ken Burroughs, couldn't have done more when dealing with my problem. Friendly, informative and really proactive. I am most impressed and find it so refreshing. Well done

These clowns offer next day delivery

These clowns offer next day delivery, which you obviously have to pay for, then they take 5 working days to post a small item they have in stock. Do not order online from this company unless you are prepared to wait whatever postal service you pay for.

BPT1200SS Great price great service

BPT1200SS I was just amazed at how cheap this pump was. A 3 bar negative head pump with a stainless steel pressurised tank and filter that will suck water in from as low as 8m below it £290! As opposed to £250 for a Salamander positive head plastic pump, no tank or filter.

It was not one I bought but just one I was asked to look at because it apparently had a problem. Turned out to be OK with the problem being one of a water supply crossover. That is the reason why the pump was not coming on was because it was registering a pressure in the system of over 2 bar when its threshold to kick-in was 1.5 bar....which is adjustable by the way.

I discovered this with the able help of Clarkes Technical Support (Ken) which were quick to pick up. I was also able to quickly get a copy of the relevant manual on their website.

OK I might concede that many of their products might be budget but at least there is reasonable support and available documentation which is more than I can say for many other 'unbranded or retail branded' products. The prices also seem very good to me.

Set square not square, customer service poor

I bought a wooden set square which is not square due to a manufacturing error. I had to buy a second set square (different brand) to verify.

When I contacted Clarke International about the fault they simply auto-forwarded my email to the retailer (Machine Mart) with no acknowledgment of the fault.

I cannot recommend this product at all, or their customer service approach

I wish I'd seen the reviews here

I wish I'd seen the reviews here before placing an order at MachineMart.

Clarke CHT565 - 170pc Titanium Coated HSS Drill Bit Set, utterly useless for metal.
Sizes are as described and labeled and the case is nice. Bits come oiled.
There's a reason why there are so many bits in this set though - they do not do a good job of drilling through metal and their coating falls of very easily (I used them on 3mm rivets and am comparing them to the same size of no-name HSS titanium-coated bits I have - same size, same drill, same type and placing of rivet).
Some of the larger bits are off-centre and, at least with my drill, would be dangerous to use.

Clarke CDV-100QR Quick Release Drill Press Vice, The G-clamp is a useless appendage to a model that should be bolted; its table-locking mechanism is a bad design and a vice which isn't stable is a dangerous piece of garbage.

Clarke CHT100 25-Pce AF/Metric HEX key set, had a key chip as I was trying to turn it (right size and very little pressure)

Clarke CM100 150mm/6" Vernier Caliper - the only tool that seems ok, but my lack of experience with using calipers may or may not be the reason. Only just started using it and it's been an enjoyable experience. Good readability and it is anything but flimsy. I don't have the right equipment to properly test accuracy unfortunately. Based on the efficacy of other Clarke tools I wouldn't count on it without double-checking it against a known good one.

Purchase of Clarke Rubbish Tools

CMD300 Milling Drilling Machine CTS14 10”
Tuned on potentiometer nothing happened twisted and returned to zero several times and eventually achieved a stuttering rotation of the spindle. Cheap and nasty potentiometer installed had never been inspected and did not work.
CBS225 228mm (9") Band Saw
At that time, the support bearings would not locate as per the dimensions on the instructions however I overlooked the problem and tried a straight cut using both crosscut and rip cut supports. The result after several trials was the cut produced an angle of about 20 degrees on all cuts. I purchased new Clarke blades; on arrival it was obvious that the blade I had been sent with the saw was the wrong blade another quality problem.
CTS14 10” (250mm) Table Saw
This saw is absolute rubish by design and manufacture. I am not going into detail concerning this tool, I have tried many different adjustments and clamping to achieve a constant parallel and square cut however, to date this has not been achieved. The set up must be constantly checked and made square using a precision test square. I believe the problem is now due to the blade, POOR QUALITY MANUFACTURE,
There is no excuse for bad manufacture except executives who do not understand manufacture but have a usless degree in accountancy trying to save money. This review was first posted in January 2022 it is now April 2022. Have not yet recieved my refund. The company I purchased the tools with have been chasing the company and to apease the situation they are told it will be a week then it will be 2 weeks then they cannot get an answer.

Utter useless staff

Utter useless staff, hung up one once then called back and another person said they couldn't help with missing parts. All of their instructions clearly give their phone number as where to call for missing parts.

Clarke CML3 Motorcycle lift

Ordered a Clarke CML3 Motorcycle lift. Not cheap! One of the grease nipples for the lower bar had been snapped off when the lift was put together by Clarke leaving the lower part still in the bar. Contacted their support by phone first. They said to contact by email, which I did. The technician informed me there was no grease nipples on the install?! I sent him pictures of them. After several emails he sent two replacement grease nipples. Neither of them fit, they were the wrong thread size. When I let him know he advised me to grind the nipple down to a taper so it would fit in the thread?! Gave up in the end and sorted it all myself. Waste of time. From this experience I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't have a further problem with the lift. Judge for yourself whether you would want to purchase from them.

Faulty Log Burner Glass Door

I recently bought (less than 6 months ago) a Regal III Stove via a distributor of Clarke's, Power Tools Direct. Whilst in normal operation, burning dried wood, the glass door popped and cracked with a shard of glass coming into my sitting room. When I complained, I was informed (by Clarke's customer services, via Power Tools Direct) that the glass was obviously hit and I had caused the damage myself and was therefore not a warranty issue. The photo I sent clearly shows the glass coming out, not going in. Neither Clarke International or Power Tools Direct are prepared to take responsibility for the faulty product supplied to me, or the clear risk of injury of this product failure could have caused. I am sick and tired of being fobbed off by these organisations, who are not prepared to replace the glass door at their cost.

This is a clear breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and I am now in the process of raising the issue with my local Trading Standards Office

Appalling Customer Services!!

I bought a Clarke garage as I was rebuilding a classic car and needed more space. It appeared to be good quality but after about 6 months use the zip on the door broke. I thought I'd contact them and they will replace it. Wrong, I had had the garage for a few months before I put it up and they only guarantee the product for 12 months even against faulty products. I will never use Clarke's products again as I certainly would expect a product of this cost to last longer than 12 months and I found their customer services to be appalling. The first time I tried to contact them I left a message and 2 weeks later hadn’t heard anything so tried again – same thing, eventually on the 3rd attempt someone emailed as said they would look into it and get back to me. Again, that didn’t happen and I had to chase them on several occasions and finally just got "it is out of warranty". Appalling Customer Services.

Clarke CTS14 tablesaw - very poor quality.

Bought a Clarke CTS14 tablesaw from Machinemart.
Very poor quality build - also arrived damaged and was returned for a refund. The refund was contingent upon me providing photos of the damage (not all customers have the means or inclination to do this). Machinemart provided a refund without any fuss. Upon their request I reviewed them as a company here on trust pilot and gave 5 stars. The CTS14 saw was bought on the strength of the 34 positive reviews posted on their website all with 5 and 4 stars spanning a 5 year period. Only 34 in 5 years? and none negative? I also - on machinemarts request - reviewed the product and gave it a 1 star. As yet the review has not been posted. This suggests negative reviews may be filtered out - if so this misleads the consumer into thinking they are buying a quality product.

If my review does not appear on Machinemarts website in a couple of weeks I shall assume it has been deliberately omitted and will reconsider my 5 star review given to them 4 days ago.

Bought a metal saw August 2020

Bought a metal saw August 2020, they sent a petrol generator... I messaged them and they finally sent me the saw.

Yesterday (1st November) 3 months!!! The clamp broke! I Contacted Clarke International after a couple emails I got a reply asking if it was under warranty, which I said it was. They then ignored 3 emails and the last one of which I mentioned I was calling trading standards, they replied straight away. Asking to return the item and they will review it? I do not have time for this and I just want a refund... appalling customer service no good for a company...

Junk tools

Junk tools; polisher grinder just stopped working after all of about 14 hours run time.
My Clarke angle grinder trigger literally fell off whilst in use. That I can live with, but at the same time the grinder stayed engaged and running! Had to manoeuvre the unit out of an awkward space whilst it was still spinning, then hold it in one hand and yank out the plug... blinking dangerous!
