Please consider carefully purchasing a car

Please consider carefully purchasing a Car from this Rogue set up !!
They are top end and overly expensive in every part of sales and service.
We bought a Jaguar XK from them last year and it was pricey, but I was led to believe it had been fully sorted ! They prepared the car with a 50 point check and service ready for delivery.
The XK was ordered with the intention of 2 specific long trips to Goodwood Revival, plus Monaco Historique, so we needed the car to be reliable.
After returning from Goodwood, just 2-3 weeks after purchasing the car from C & S we asked James the owner of the business to collect it because the intense fuel smell was giving my wife and me serious headaches, plus it was averaging 15mpg mostly on motorways,
We were also having problems starting and keeping the battery charged (three weeks after purchase).
C & S collected the car and said they could not find any problems, adding that it's common for ar old car to smell of fuel ! they replaced the battery and charged £500 including 2 hours fitting.
We set off on our trip to Monaco and upon returning home successfully, we immediately noticed that the inside half of both front tyres was completely shredded down to the bare thread!
I asked James to collect the car to investigate the reason for such rapid wear, and to replace the tyres. We still had serious fuel smells and 15mpg, C & S charged £500 for collection and delivery, £500 for two new tyres plus fitting, and 15 hours of labour looking for fuel smell causes! £800, and again, they couldn't find any fuel issues! They insisted I settle the Invoice before releasing the Car ! we asked for the car to be delivered to a Jaguar specialist Ken Jenkins to check the car over as I wasn't satisfied with the lack of reports. Ken was brilliant and immediately found that the Fuel pipes were actually completely wrong, and were dripping fuel onto the manifold ! The rear suspension components were different sizes and completely shot. The geometry of the front wheels was completely out! The front wheel bearings had been nipped up so tight the wheels wouldn't spin freely! These issues all led to scrubbed tyres within 2000 miles, plus 15mpg, a horrendous fuel smell and headaches!
The car now runs perfectly, no smell, 26mpg and doesn't bounce all over the place!
Our XK wasn't properly sorted when we bought it from C & S and their mechanics should have sorted all these issues prior to the sale!

NEVER AGAIN

I have dealt many times (10+) with this company but my experience over the last 2 years means i will never deal with them again.A myriad of 'niggles'(as they described the numerous problems) but selling one of my cars in Oct 25 and not paying out until the end of Feb '26 was the last straw. The new owner wanted various works done so I had to wait. The car was perfectly road worthy and not in need of anything when I delivered it to them.
Numerous times I asked who did the PDI before delivery, when cars arrived with a variety of faults. 'There are always problems with old cars' I was told - agreed but not when one has paid top price from a so-called specialist.I expect everything to be working.Caveat emptor!

Poor service and quality of workmanship.

I am writing this review in view of my experience with this company (Malton Coachworks), and having had time to scrutinise the work carried out. My views have not changed, in fact I have since found damage to certain parts which I do not believe was there in the first place, and also a paint flaw.
" I had two cars restored here at huge cost and had nothing but problems with both service and workmanship. The first car was returned to me in a disgusting state, and had to be returned for rectification and further paintwork after already having had a bare metal respray. The engine, which had been rebuilt, sounded like “a bag of nails”. Again with the second car, which was already committed for restoration, had had a respray, and came back after more than two years with the nearside front door a different shade of colour. After returning it for rectification, the paint was also found to have blistered and had to have its second respray, this time after bare metalling and carrying out bodywork repairs. The list of problems encountered goes on and on. These are just a few, abysmal communications with emails not responded to, and phone calls not returned, invoiced for work not carried out, repairs leading to the problem becoming worse, damage caused to car during an MOT, work having to be repeated by another garage due to poor workmanship, parts “lost’, serious problems with electrics after rebuild, etc, etc, and I do mean etc. I really do wish I had not become involved with this company, and can only say “avoid at all costs” "
