Had work on my t2 camper done by John and couldn’t fault it. Met by pure chance and booked in straight away with them. My camper had a roof rack which they said they’d keep to one side whilst they did the work. When I collected the camper, they explained I could keep the roof rack there until I was passing another day to collect it properly.
I messaged ongoing loads of times but my messages were ignored. My friend also messaged as he offered to pick it up on some occasions. Each time, calls and messages were ignored by Kate. No one was there when my friend went over to collect the roof rack.
Finally got a reply saying they were busy with their VW show so come get it after this. I tried to arrange this and again was ignored. Recently I messaged again and got a reply. They said my friend must have took it as they left the roof rack outside ages ago and had moved elsewhere. Yet when I messaged around the time of their show and my friend going to the unit, this was not mentioned. My friend confirmed he went over but there was no roof rack left outside. Why you’d even leave someone’s belongings outside in the first place is beyond me. They are now still ignoring all my messages. They’re not interested in my roof rack but will happily take my camper/money to do more work to it.

After a long search I finally found what I was looking for, someone who knows vintage VW T2 buses inside and out.

I highly recommend Classic Volks workshop. The owners, Kate and John really are experts in their field, their knowledge, advice and service is impeccable.
Although the workshop is a new venture, both Kate and John have been heavily involved with classic air-cooled VW’s for many years. Kate also organises the 'Field of dreams’ air-cooled show' in Escrick [Escrick, just outside of York is also where their workshop is based] and John has been passionately working on air-cooled VW’s since he was a teenager.

Although I love my T2 1600cc bus I’ve always been a disappointed and to be frank, a bit stressed where hills are concerned. I didn’t want to replace the engine as it was only three years old. After a chat with John and Kate the plan was to replace the existing gearbox with a 'Freeway Flyer’ box, add a new progressive carburettor, fit an upgraded exhaust and replace all worn gearbox linkages and bushings. The result, a much more robust van which feels much more able to cope with hills and at the same time cruses at greater speeds with lower revs. It has altered the whole driving experience for the better.
