Giving it a 1 because 0 is not…

Giving it a 1 because 0 is not possible!! 3 Months saying my lump sum pension should be in my account. Giving no solution and passing the ball from one side to another!!! Customer service is appalling, suffering mental health issues and financial difficulties due to their unprofessional service. After 3 months and still no payout I have no choice but to go for legal action!

Still hanging on the phone

Still hanging on the phone, as I type, trying to get though to finishing claiming my pension. No matter what day or what time of day I call.

When they faced criticism for appalling customer service in March 2022 they said:
“We’re very sorry for any delays that customers have experienced. We’re working hard to improve by recruiting and training more customer service staff, investing in our systems and simplifying our processes and procedures.”

Not working hard enough, it seems!

Hopeless company to get help from.

I can only agree with the rating of 1 star for Clerical Medical every time I call them for anything other than a basic valuation they cannot answer simple questions. It takes weeks for a reply which come by letter. I called today to ask about a fund that is closing I found this out by chance, no word from CM when I asked to speak to a pension expert i was told they are not in the building? I am looking to see how I can move to another company.
CM if you bother to read this and all the other reviews contact me.

Shambolic

Shambolic. Other financial providers can make good investment decisions, but these clowns decrease their bond value every year. It is not an industry or market issue but simply the fact that CM are part of Lloyds Banking Group, which also includes the useless and incompetent Scottish Widows who screw clients on their pension pots

Bucked the Trend

After quite a few phone calls I eventually got a standard
claims form rather than an encrypted one 3times,
which could not be opened.
I submitted Claims form in late March 2023. This was rejected on 3rd April as not signed in non existent signature block - received 10 days later.
Resubmitted on 18th April and actually paid out by 25th April.
Guess I am one of the Lucky Ones.

Why does Clerical Medical not answer their phones?

I have been on the phone 56 minutes and still waiting for a reply - trying to find out where my request to cash in my pension has disappeared to. Filled in all the online forms requested a month ago and have heard nothing! How can a company get away with such awful customer service?!

The only way forward is to involve the Financial Ombudsman Services as clerical medical will be charged £750 to have this investigated

I have never in my life dealt with a company as awful as Clerical Medical. I tried to surrender a bond several months ago and have repeatedly been told I need to send other documents. Can I find out from them what documents are needed ?? Not a chance!.
Weekly phone calls and a complaint registered with their complaints department has led to a letter being received saying they are investigating it but that is all I have received in Several months .
The only way to proceed is to registered a complaint with FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service ) as maybe they will take complaints seriously then.

Just for information when a customer involves FOS, Clerical Medical will be charged a case fee of £750.
So therefore I suggest everyone who is unhappy and getting no where with Clerical Medical, register their complaint with FOS.
Maybe then we will receive the service we deserve.

Truly dreadful customer service

Truly dreadful customer service. Taken over 6 weeks to receive a claim form which has arrived with the wrong name on it! Two telephone calls later I’ve got absolutely nowhere. What a shambles.

Dreadful …

Absolutely appalling service when trying to get the money from my late mother's bond paid out. Took almost two months before I received a claim form by post, despite repeatedly requesting one. Was then told I could fill it in and sent it back without my sister (who lives 300 miles away) having to sign it as co-executor, only for them to insist she had to, so then further delaying the payout. The company agreed to pay me £100 compensation for the delay, but have never received the promised cheque, three months on. Awful experience at a time when I was supposed to be grieving.

Further to my review in January

Further to my review in January, I reported my problem - trying to claim my deceased daughter's pension, I placed it with their complaints department, this was duly dealt with, but another 5 weeks has passed a still no payout. It will be 1 year next month since I put a claim in.

Shame on you Clerical Medical

After over 18yrs with Clerical Medical, making multiple mid-term calls for current values of my pension during this time, their capacity to answer calls has decreased considerably.
Today, I waited over 38.5 mins for a call to be answered!
I've complained to them many times over the years, and met with their stock response every time. But, the call answer time continues to degrade.
It's not the fault of the person answering the line, it's simply a decision by the business to always employ too few staff.
Clerical Medical are not under-resourced, they are extremely well financed (with our money!) Shareholders are not deserting them and the markets don't see them as a risk.
The problem? Despite every sugary assurance we receive about how important small individual investors are to their business, they simply couldn't care less. Big investors have designated fund managers, but individual investors, who form the largest cohort, are expected to put up with a third-rate service.
Shame on you Clerical Medical.

No pension payout following Death of husband in 2021

My husband died in December 2021 and I am still waiting for a response to receive Spouses Guaranteed Minimum Pension, i have made over 20 phone calls and am now getting a standard letter to say we are dealing with your complaint, you will hear from us in 4 weeks. The emotional distress is exhausting me.
Shame on you Clerical Medical, Scottish Widdows and Lloyds Banking group

Appalling customer service

I rang Clerical Medical to get a cash equivalent transfer valuation for divorce purposes. They sent me completely the wrong information. I have rung numerous times since, and despite the telephone agents putting note after note on my file requesting the valuation, nothing is happening. They say that they can't put me through to the back office, or even transfer me to a manager. Due to the delay which has been entirely caused by Clerical Medical, it's now urgent for me to get this valuation, and I just don't know what else to do.

Don’t use this company. Anyone thinking of using this company

Anyone thinking of using this company, DONT. Anyone who may have money in this company start the process of moving your money OUT. My son died in January 2022 and I have only just been paid his pension. This follows a year of phone calls, emails, letters on at least a weekly basis. The lies and deceit this company allows beggars belief. At a time of enormous emotions, I have had 12 months of going over and over things trying to receive what my son paid into this company. They are experts at “passing the buck”, one never ever receives a clear answer to any question or update. One does not receive replies to letters, emails etc and it is soul destroying. I urge people dealing with this company to make a complaint as soon as you can, wait the obligatory 8 weeks and then straight to ombudsman, I wish all of you dealing with this company the patience and tenacity you will require in receiving any monies that are rightfully yours.

Pension transfer

I needed to transfer my pension from the old Clerical medical system which had no access possibilities to the new Scottish widows system. This took many hours of phone calls to chase and several hours on hold. When finally the transfer was complete no documents were provided letting me know where the money had gone. Still pursuing this.
