Failure to pay an endowment policy in the terms of the contract. I now have had two replies saying they are looking into my complaint. But no urgency in making any payments.
What has happened with this company? They fail to answer letters or the phone. My endowment matured on 26th November 2020 after paying the premiums for 34 years.
They promised to pay in mid October. It is intended to pay off a mortgage.
Sadly it is this complete lack of service that gives financial services such a bad name.
I feel frustrated at not getting a response, and angry that they have failed to fulfil their contract.
Finally, nearly three months late, the endowment policy paid up, albeit 40% short of the original target.
This is just not good enough for what used to be a first class life insurer and now part of the Lloyds Banking Group. They need to put this right.

This company is an utter a disgrace
This company is an utter a disgrace. My father passed away at the end of April, he had been paying into a life assurance policy for over 50 years, which should have paid out immediately after his death. To cut a very long story short, it took seven months, two official complaints and hours on the phone from my solicitor before they finally paid out. During this time no one from Clerical Medical made contact with us nor could we ever speak to the people whose names we had been given previously. We were given no information and simply pushed from pillar to post. I strongly advise anyone who has a policy with Clerical Medical to get out of it while they can.
